  1. There certainly may be flaws in the team Melvin has assembled, but the talent was enough for Vegas to predict a ~.490 win percentage each of the last two seasons. We exceeded that last year due to an incredible start, and while it seems disingenuous to not give RRR credit for that, the recent trend over the last 100 games is in the neighborhood of .370 win percentage. Historic collapse in the final month last season, historically bad start this season, and a broader 4-month history of significantly sub-expectation results. Hard to fault upper management for wanting to make a change. I'm enthused. I don't think RRR values outs, gives them away -- sac bunts too much, runs too much, fosters reckless basepath aggressiveness too much. It doesn't seem like he rigorously espouses fundamentals nor holds players accountable. And I think he lacks the intensity and energy that would best inspire professional athletes to be champions. All speculation from a distance. Go Brewers!
  2. Sounds like we have enough for at least a small practice on Saturday, May 1 @ 1:00. We'll do LaFollette Park like we normally do (92nd st in Milwaukee / West Allis), one of the north diamonds if they're open. Confirmed in: valpo Schubert Tim Ryan Confirmed out: Houle Beeks Aaron Al Unknown: Kenny Kenny's brother Radman Brian
  3. Just posted the schedule, season starts in 5 weeks! Would be good to get a few practices in before then to shake off the rust. Is this upcoming weekend too early/ cold/ fields-not-ready? Maybe too short of notice anyways. Thoughts on when we should hold our first practice!?

Home = Third Base Bench Here's the official schedule from the rec department. Should be the same if I didn't make any errors copying to above. 5. Kenny, hopefully it goes without saying that your bro is in! Looking forward to having him on the team. Near 50 degree weather next week, first practice can't be too far way...
  6. Update: We are officially signed up for next season! Looks like might already have 11 guys, that's great. We're open to 1 or 2 more if you know anyone.
  7. To someone looking for a job, 3 months is an eternity. For a bustling business, it's a blink of an eye. Just a matter of perspective.
  8. Current roll call with replies and text responses: 01. valpo 02. houlie 03. beeks 04. Al 05. nullbyte 06. Schubert 07. Aaron I also recruited a guy over winter, so we're off to a pretty good start! I'll make sure we get renewed soon. 08. Ryan <-- New guy (although being a Cards fan might disqualify him)
  9. League renewal information is out for the 2015 season. Hopefully we'll be continuing the softball tradition under the Brewerfan.net banner for yet another year! Let's use this thread as a signup for previous team members and anyone new that is interested in hopping aboard. I'll also try to get a text message out to everyone from last year. We have until mid-February to sign up. Roll call... 01. valpo 02.
  10. "The Wall of Honor paved the way for the Selig Experience, which cleared the way for the Selig-Prieb Experience. The stage was now set for the Pan Am Project, which I believe was some sort of hovercraft."
  11. I feel like they might have played a couple songs from Hold Me Up and Superstar Car Wash at Summerfest a couple years ago. Goo Goo Dolls is one of my guilty pleasure bands from the 90s. If Brewers offer upgraded post-game seats / on-field access, I might be up for paying a little extra to see GGD up close.
  12. Apparently, when I got to step three, I didn't need to create a My Tickets account since the Brewers already created one on our behalf. I just had to sign in using our account number and then a password that was printed at the top of the invoice, which is accessed from within the initial brochure-mlb.com web site. I wish they would have made the My Tickets thing clearer. Now I've got an extra, bogus My Tickets account out there -- I hope there's a way to delete that instead of leaving it hanging out there. Sigh... Yeah, the same question crossed my mind. It looks like you pick your payment option and click "Renew" prior to selecting the games? That's concerning. It's also concerning that all the dollar amounts on my renewal page do NOT reflect our credit from postseason payments. (Unlike the invoice I can see from within the initial brochure-mlb.com web site, which did have the postseason credit.) At least I know my rep will be responsive when I inquire about these things. Still, this process leaves a lot to be desired. EDIT: Postseason credit was available when I went to the actual payment page, although I had to click a checkbox that eluded me until my account rep mentioned it. Fan's choice selection form has to be printed from the initial web site and then submitted separately, instructions say snail mail. Strange that everything else is online but this is still filled out by hand. Also annoying that this form that has all kinds of redundant contact & payment fields from the online renewal.
  13. Anyone else struggling with the online renewal process? The setup seems pretty disappointing. - Following the link from the renewal email, you get a pretty slick, intuitive interface -- good start. - Click the renewal button and you're bounced out to the less polished My Tickets launch page on brewers.com. - Follow the link for My Tickets, and since I didn't have an account, needed to set one up. (And grind through the confusing convergence between what a My Tickets account is and what an mlb.com account is.) - Finally get into "My Tickets", which is its own distinct portal -- marking the third different "environment" (and domain) I've been in since clicking the link in the email (flashy initial renewal environment (brochure-mlb.com), back to standard brewers.com environment (mlb.com), now My Tickets portal environment (tickets.com)). - Then, hopeful that I'm finally on the threshold of being able to renew now that I'm in My Tickets, I see nothing about season tickets. There's a Buy Tickets button at the top, which opens a new window back to brewers.com, to just the standard ticketing page. - (This didn’t seem right because now I was outside of My Tickets, still, I tried following the “Place Deposit” buttons for season tickets anyways and got “This event is currently not available for sale online. Reason Code( 2, 4 ).”) Good grief.
  14. Hope the Angels beat the snot out of ol' Nedley and these jokers. Sweep!
  15. I dislike Yost so much that I'm rooting against the Royals. Looks like they might pull this one out of their butt. Then he'll probably get undue credit for the win. He's terrible.
  16. Multiple comments mentioning Rickie being asked to play first base. When was that? The story from May was about left field. Did I miss a similar story about first? http://forum.brewerfan.net/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=31282
  17. I'd be ticked if I were a Pirates fan. They're playing for something meaningful, division title, and we're screwing it up for them.
  18. Isn't K-rod awful in non-save situations this year? No better options?
  19. Doesn't it seem like while McGehee was barking, someone(s) in the Marlins dugout must have been saying something? Looked like Fiers was reacting to comments from the dugout more than McGehee. Wonder if McGehee's comments were - perhaps irrationally / emotionally - getting bent out of shape about Johnson not being awarded the base, but meanwhile the dugout was making some crap accusations about hitting guys on purpose. The image of a distraught Fiers' spiking the ball in frustration while a melee takes shape in front of him is something I might never forget.
  20. I don't understand why fielders covering 2nd on steal attempts don't let the ball come to them. Over anxious? Catching the ball 5 feet in front of the bag and moving your glove that distance has to be slower than catching the ball at the bag and dropping the tag, right? Not to mention, the former seems to result in tagging high on the body instead of where the runner's foot meets the bag.
  21. BA got a little too excited for a not terribly impressive play made by our OPPONENT. Nothing new, I guess...
