Wanted to chime in about the MLB At Bat app, which I've used the past 2 years to listen to radio broadcasts living out-of-state. This seemed like the best thread for it?
In previous years, the deal was a $29.99 for the entire year, and with that you got all radio broadcasts. An additional bonus was live TV streaming of minor league games (which I never used). There might have been some MLB Network tie-ins/perks, but I can't remember.
Based on an email I got a week ago, a few things seem to be changing...
- MLB At Bat is being rebranded to MLB+
- The subscription includes full access to MLB Network ... sounds like this is new
- The price is increasing to $59.99 for the year
The radio broadcasts continue, with no blackout restrictions. Sounds like the MiLB streaming component continues, too.
Not crazy about the $30 increase, that's double the previous cost and now $10 /mo for radio broadcasts during the 6 months of the season. Not horrible, but loses some appeal. The key might be if or how much I use the MLB Network piece. The email describes it as, "MLB Network programming 24/7 through the MLB apps - including select live out-of-market games as well as MLB Network shows like MLB Tonight..." I wonder if the "select" part of "select live out-of-market games" is just to say that MLB Network only airs select games, or MLB+ will have an even lesser selection of games that would otherwise be on MLB Network.
EDIT: Removed part about possible 20% discount available for this year. That's just for an MLB Shop purchase. The email was crafty in making me think it applied to this new renewal cost.
