  1. Was this supposed to be in blue? If the Bucks are just a decent team when healthy why wouldn't they play a talent like Griffin? Would they say, "Yeah we are a decent team, we don't need to get any better, so lets just keep running the same guys out there and hope we can slide into the 7th or 8th spot in the East". Every team in the league would give that guy 20+ minutes a night, Lakers included.
  2. Once conference play starts Memphis goes into the blackout zone, Calipari wants to be relevant and that means face time on CBS and ESPN.
  3. They also do not have any strengths...
  4. If watching at work, check out the cbssportsline "Boss Button", just plain awesome.
  5. "Were the boxes close to eachother?" "Irrelevant."
  6. I got to see it bucks because I was watching on espn360 at work all on the company's dime...
  7. Wow cannot believe Marquette lost. Some poor officiating both ways however Marquette's rotations were off all day. They gave up so many open looks, including the game-winner.
  8. Marquette game has been entertaining. All tied up with 2 minutes left.
  9. The point I want to make is this: It may be that many of the guys on TRWI7's are better than Redd. However on any given night Redd can be just as good, if not better than many of them. Besides for the 10 or so elite players the 11-50 range is in no way set in stone. It just is not like baseball where we can take the top 50 OPS and rank players.
  10. Tubthumping. Chumbawamba. You could play something by Chris Brown and hope that the pet gets beat into submission....
  11. On any given night I believe there are 3-10 "best" players in the league; Kobe, Bron, Wade (especially this year) CP3, Howard, Duncan, D-Will and a few others. These guys are elite, game changing players and their styles differ greatly. CP3 and Howard may play totally different but the impact for their team is probably the same. However, Lebron may be distancing himself from the pack only because he is a freak of nature, as Bill Simmons puts it he is Magic Johnson with Karl Malone's body. Essentially Lebron can beat you any way. There is no stopping him. I may have been a little harsh on Redd. The more I think about it the more I realize that when healthy the guy can have a big impact on games with his ability to shoot a high percentage. Not a game changer like the guys above, but for sure someone you have to focus your defense on. Yeah he gets paid too much but I have to admit that there was really no other choice. You could not have let the guy walk especially knowing that you could outbid everyone else.
  12. I only ask because I work at a library and get "Can I have some scrap paper" only to have the patron use it to quickly write something down.
  13. 82games.com Roland ratings have Redd as the 17th best player. http://www.82games.com/0809/ROLRTG8.HTM
  14. You cannot base your assumption off of that stat. It excludes players who are no longer active and it is a cumulative stat, not a stat for who is more efficient right now. Your assumption could be that in the last 7 years Redd is a top 20 player, but you cannot say that currently he is a top 20 player based on that stat.
  15. Redd may be a top 50 player but in no way is he a top 20. He is the "star" of the team when he is not hurt. But with Redd down CV is the best player on the team, so has CV cracked the top 20? Does someone scoring 21 points a game put that person into the league's elite? I really don't think it does. I would argue that points alone are not a very good measure of how "good" a player is, because sometimes a pass or a rebound are a better basketball play. The Redd debate is interesting because basketball statistics do not lend themselves to evaluating a players true worth. The same discussion applies to CV. Does his total lack of effort on the defensive end get offset by his offensive prowess? This is exactly what was talked about in the Michael Lewis article on Battier a few weeks ago. My question to everyone is this: Can you build a championship team around Michael Redd right now?
  16. I may have been a little harsh. I look at Redd as being able to do one thing really well (shoot) and being average at all other aspects of his game. He is an average defender and he doesn't create alot of oppurtunities for his teamates (mostly because he does not have to be doubled). He is in the mold of Reggie Miller. A spot up shooter who is a good player but probably not going to be the driving force of a championship team. I really do not think the Fielder analogy is correct because he can hit for power and average. Redd is more like Ryan Howard in that they do one thing very well. This is Redd's 9th year in the league and he has finished in the top 10 in points 2 times. 2003-04: He was 5th in points. 2005-06: He was 9th in points. Maybe at that time in his career he was an "elite" scorer. I would argue those days are behind him.
  17. IIRC Dampier will be in the last year of his contract next year and with 2010 being the summer of the FA, I imagine he will be an extremely hot commodity. Dallas will get alot more than a specialist (Redd) and some expensive spare parts.
  18. Parts of this were shot in my hometown of Columbus, including a chase scence through the downtown area. I am pumped for this movie. Hopefully Christian Bale doesn't whisper his way through the whole movie...
  19. I will add this to the list...
  20. I couldn't agree with you more. When I got my XM radio I was told that you have to get the Sirius package for Stern. At first I never listened to him, now I catch almost the full show every day between my car, work and house. While at times it is raunchy other times it is intellectual and he gets top tier guests.
  21. I heard this yesterday on the Stern show. Artie was great, his new book "Too Fat to Fish" is actually pretty good. Are there any other Howard listeners on the board?
  22. Pitch, where did you get the demo for the PC?
  23. "How much more black could this be? The answer is none, none more black." For sure I will be at this concert.
