Just curious, but if Ned is horrible, what was Davey Lopes? Or Royster? Lopes & Royster weren't any better than Ned -- As a side note I find it odd that Yost gets a lot of free-passes for having subpar talent, while Lopes and Royster don't.

I don't think his defense in 2007 was a fluke -- He may not have as high as a fielding pct. in 2008, but I think he will be in the very top echelon of SS's in MLB. As I mentioned in another post, with his next HR he will become the Rockies career leader in HRs by a SS. Shortstops that can hit 25 HRs and be one of the top fielding players in the game, do not grow on trees -- and probably end up in Cooperstown -- Like Russ says, it's way to early to give Tulo that sort of credit, but if he continually puts up numbers similar to 2007, he will accumulate a lot of MLB trophies. If he can play SS as well as he did in 2007, and get 25 jacks a year, I dont care if he gets 20 at home and 5 on the road -- that makes him incredibly valuable.

I wouldn't call any of these guys "reclamation projects" -- I think of guys like Balfour, or even Joe Dillon that are out of baseball for a period of time. That said, there is certainly a lot of question marks. I agree with the poster that mentioned that Yost needs to quit slotting every pitcher in a specific inning. The more flexible Yost is, the more I likely I think this BP could be a strength of the team.

I don't get why this is a shame or terrible news. He did it to himself, therefore I have absolutely no sympathy for him. Heath Ledger doesn't need your sympathy, as he is dead. However, there are family, friends and fans involved. This is a horrible and sad event.

I think Braun will "disappoint" because he will not mash like he did in 2007, however, I think that by moving him to LF he will be overall more valuable than he was in 2007 I vote for the BP in a group effort Mota/Gagne/Turnbow/Torres have me nervous.

I think if someone does make a thread that is specifically dedicated the mistakes that Ned Yost makes - that people should only be able to post these mistakes while the game is on when he made the mistake, before it goes wrong. The In-game threads are exactly that. There are literally thousands of real-time comments already at our disposal. A lot of the Nedophiles will say that we are all second-guessing Ned -- when in reality all of the good and bad is there for anyone who wants to peruse it in the ingame threads

It's a definite "all bets are off" point in time. I am pretty sure I will need to exercise the "in good times and in bad" clause in my marriage. However, I suspect Yost will be fired early in the season.

He probably shouldn't have access to stats either, for example "Craig Counsell is 2 for 3 lifetime against Randy Johnson, so he is getting the start at 3b today". I still Ned could be a very valuable asset to the team, especially if they employed the "Ask Ned, do the opposite" strategy. Something about couches as well.....

I hope nobody takes offense to my question because i mean nothing snide by asking this, but what is the big fascination many have with getting autographs from athletes? Is it mainly to make a card, bat, or ball more valuable or it the love for autographs something else? When I was a kid -- I wrote letters to current players, I would send them a card, and ask them for their autograph. Then I would go to card shows, and look for neat old cards and send them to retired players. What I didn't expect is that I would start to correspond with a lot of former players, they would send me neat letters telling me to listen to my parents, and study hard. I was able to develop friendships that last to this day with some of those players. I kept all my letters, and its really more a part of my history. My kids love going through them looking at all my old stuff. Nowadays, it's something the kids and I do while we are watching the Brewers/FB or it's raining outside. 2 of my kids really like poking through my old cards and sending them off to retired and current players. I figure there are much worse ways to spend my time. I have to admit though, getting an envelope in the mail, not knowing who it is from, is still a pretty big rush for me, in a simple things sort of way. As for multiple items, every year players get different cards, so I can certainly understand people wanting cards from different years/sets signed. After all, the Brewers expect me to go to multiple games throughout the year, so I think that is fair. Trying to get the same 8x10 signed 10 times though, I am not a big fan of.

Here are my values as a fan. Triple -- 10 Double -- 7 Home Run -- 6 Steal -- 5 Single -- 4 Walk -- 3 I think a Single/Walk + Steal >Double -- again as what I would rather watch.

Good Job! I think he was a HOF type pitcher from 1977-1981ish but overall I agree with a big no. Certainly to come back the way he did and as well as he did was a monumental achievement.

There's no reason to throw him in the outfield if it isn't necessary. It's necessary.

I can't understand why someone would move Braun so quickly after seeing Hall do some serious regressing last year. First -- Braun can't get through a whole game at 3b --Yost isn't going to trot Counsell out to play LF Second -- I think it is just as probable that Braun could struggle offensively if he continues to botch 1 out of 10 plays at 3b, and he starts getting booed.

Ryan's defense is absolutely beyond repair, especially considering his age. I mean, there is really no fix to those kinds of struggles and it has never been done before. This would be correct. We can only hope that Doug Melvin reads this thread and reacts exclusively to your advice of complete abandonment of one of our best prospects that we've had in years. If by "complete abandonment" you mean -- "move to left field" -- DM is obviously considering making this move.
