  1. Hint #2 -- We are not spacemen
  2. Who were we? http://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/86f25199f275ef83e101f24d0dcb5ec90481810.jpg Hint #1 -- If BtA had heard of us, we would have been GWSU #1
  3. This can have a significant effect on their performance, good or bad. As dixieflatline's excellent analysis shows, McClung has definitely done an extreme makeover to himself. Whether it results in long term improvement is yet to be seen, though The flipside to this, is if indeed McClung has reinvented himself, at some point NL hitting coaches are going to make adjustments -- much like they did to Turnbow. Hopefully McClung turns out to be a better pitcher.
  4. What I wanna know is where W got those sweet Air Force One socks. I think in the gift shop.
  5. Turns out the Brewers don't even have a sign to acknowledge the squeeze. Yeah -- I remember reading the first time it happened, the Brewers were one of the few teams that didn't have the hitter acknowledge. Not having the batter acknowledge seems rather stupid to me. -- You don't want your batter swinging away with a vulnerable runner heading down the line.
  6. I would take a first round pick and a sandwich pick over Hughes. You may not get a 1st rd for Sheets -- It is probably more likely to get a Sammy and a 2.
  7. If it had not worked, people would have been all over Yost on here. Probably. So what?? Yost is going to be second-guessed. Once Bf.net got its 2nd member there were going to be disagreements here on what a Brewer manager should do. These straw man arguments really are pointless and do not further any sort of discussion civilly. There is no point to what you wrote, asides from the obvious observation that BF.net is going to have divergent ideas as to how Yost should handle things. Here is what a straw man argument is, and how they can be avoided.
  8. You can certainly blame DM for signing Gagne, and Yost pitching him 12 days in a row, -- but for any given day I agree.
  9. Yeah, I think implementing it mid-season is sort of strange. The one thing I wonder about, is how they are going to position all of the cameras in all the differently shaped fields to ensure good angles. It seems like it would take some time to figure out. I could see doing it in the off-season, but it seems rushed mid-season. In Hockey you have identical playing surfaces -- not so in baseball. God help us all, if they are relying on FSN's camerawork.
  10. Did he throw that hard? I thought he was more low 90s, but I obviously might be wrong here. Balfour did, that was why I was sad to see him go -- he has always had good K/9 numbers
  11. It just baffles me to see a bad RP turn into a decent SP. 1 walk in 18 IP -- this is either a classic red flag small sample, or McClung has figured something out. I tend to think this BB rate is unsustainable. The other thing to remember is, that it is not as if McClung was being groomed to be a starter..... rather he was thrown into the rotation because of the injury to Yo and sucktitude of Bush/Villy. I think Maddux has down something good, Yost/DM got lucky, and big Seth is making the most of his opportunity.
  12. Can we give credit to Yost/Melvin about Seth McClung? Sure, as long as we can rip Yost apart when a player fails --- you can't have it both ways TWR. If you insist that we blame the players, I think it is only fitting that we give McClung the credit. McClung has one BB in the last 18 IP, that is insane -- plus he is hitting. I am not sure what to think.
  13. I don't like the new Klements ad with the family around and the sugary sweet music. Seconded. I don't like that Boys & Girls awards commercial, in a large part because that one kid in the top right looks to be undead.
  14. It is also easy to blame every loss on Ned Yost, that's why people like you do it. Again, this is a strawman argument. I have never blamed every loss on Yost, or anything remotely close to that. No one here has done that. Ever. I sincerely believe you are not aware of what a strawman argument is. You should read this, it will help you understand what I am saying.
  15. Like it not, my point is valid, because i'm right. It is easy to win strawman arguments, that's why people like yourself make them.
  16. The point is that people would have blamed the loss on Yost no matter what he did. You have no point -- only a strawman argument. It's not about whether keeping Tavarez in was the right move. It wasn't. Like I said before, maybe you wouldn't have blamed it on Yost if he did bring Mota in and he blew it, but someone would have. Then go find "someone" and argue with them. If you want to defend Yost and his moves -- that's fine, just don't create imaginary positions that you can easily refute.
  17. Mota has been bad his last few outings. If he came in and blew it there would be plenty of people saying "Ned should know that Mota hasn't been sharp lately, this is on him." False -- this is another ridiculous strawman statement. I am not a big Mota fan, in fact I think he sucks. I know Tavarez sucks as well --- but the key is Tavarez threw 30 pitches in the 11th, and I would rather have a fresh sucky pitcher in the game than a sucky pitcher who threw 30 pitches. I really don't think you can blame this one on Yost. The defense was a bit shaky (again), and at some point you just run out of relievers to use. Yost didn't run out of relievers, he ran out of decent ones -- that's on Melvin. Both Melvin and Yost are bad at their jobs and should be canned.
  18. No. No. No. No. No.
  19. It's gotten to the point where someone can comment that a player who went 3-for-4 had a nice game, and it's like a race between posters to point out that it's a small sample. It really needs to stop. Amen. DM really dropped the ball not having this guy on our roster in Fenway.
  20. I remember thinking "the reason Welch had 27 wins was because of Eck" back in 1990. Eck was off the charts insane -- I would have voted for him -- but certainly Clemens was awesome as well.
  21. Does anyone see the silliness in critiquing Justice for not being in the Brewers clubhouse when those making the critique have no facts to back up their assertion? I don't. Since Dick Justice scrawled out this blog before the wins on June 12 and 13th, I would not hesitate to slap him around for this. I have no doubt he was in the Brewers clubhouse in Houston -- probably in early May when we got swept. I suspect that if you walk into any clubhouse after getting swept, (especially after that 12 inning game) you will see some dejected players. Furthermore, I suspect the Brewers, being a younger/inexperienced team, probably take their lows lower and their highs higher. It would have been one thing for Dick Justice to say something to the effect of "I was in the Brewers clubhouse on May 5th and they were really despondent" -- however I don't think it is very responsible to pretend to know the overall attitude of the Brewers' clubhouse day in and day out after wins and losses, based on a one-time visit.
  22. Yost brings us down Ha! Jeff Lynne would be proud.
  23. Here is what MLB says: "This copyrighted telecast is presented by authority of the Office of the Commissioner of Baseball. It may not be reproduced or retransmitted in any form, and the accounts and descriptions of this game may not be disseminated without express written consent." My guess is that ESPN radio e.g. has some sort of "express written consent" -- while your local AM radio channel does not.
