  1. Never mind cycling etiquette, what staggers me is the almost complete lack of visibility most cyclists I come across have when it's dark. Yeah -- This is my #1 concern as well. In our small poorly lit town, it's hard to see kids until they are riding on your windshield. I am always amazed as well, on how many young kids do not wear helmets -- I bet 75% here are not protecting their melon.
  2. Enjoy our selection of 100+ buffet items, featuring Chinese dishes, Mongolian BBQ, sushi, and standard American cuisine. A Mongolian BBq/Grill often refers to a grill where you bring up your food raw and the chef cooks it on a big round grill -- not the type of food.
  3. The decision to move Hall from 2nd was Hall's decision and not Ned's. Billy said as much in the Trenni post game interview. Right -- The pitcher didn't even look at Hall. It was 100% on Hall good or bad.
  4. what other options does he have right now? That really depends on the extent that Gagne and Riske are hurt
  5. assuming Sheets is a Type A FA, he already is worth at least 2 top draft picks, Remember that this could be a #1 and a sammy, or a sammy and a #2 -- depending on how good/bad the team signing Sheets is this last year (bad teams have their #1 protected) I would rather the Brewers be sellers with Sheets, and punt on 2008, than do something crazy with our prospects and go buy a rental in a desperation attempt to get back in the race.
  6. WHy does everyone seem to dislike Prince so much recently? Fielder's stock is high -- it's a good time to look at trading him.
  7. What is the difference between learning in the minor league vs learning in the major league? The difference is, is in the Majors you get benched mid-game for Craig Counsell, when you are "learning to play 3b" -- that wouldn't happen in Nashville.
  8. To be honest, I kind of agree. This team seems like it could use some kind of attitude shake up right now. Maybe someone like this with a little fire on the field will get the Brewers out of their funk. If this team could use a shakeup, I doubt it is going to come from a washed out RP, much less a clown like Tavarez. If DM really wanted to shake up the Brewers, he'd fire Yost, not sign Tavarez.
  9. Branyan has been with 7 different teams since 2004 (9 if you count the Brewers 2x and the Indians 2x). Branyan has not been a long term solution for anyone recently.
  10. If the fans had their way, the Brewers would have had about 50 different managers since 2000. In all fairness, all of our managers since 2000 have sucked. Also, I think that the fanbase has been incredibly patient with Yost, really the heat has been on Yost for the last year or so. I think it is reasonable for the fanbase to be a bit agitated w/o a playoff berth in 25 years.
  11. Am I the only one who thinks the IF needs an overhaul? No. It's a good topic to discuss. Weeks' defense has been notably better this year, IMO. Maybe. I think Weeks's D is still poor, though. I think the problem is Weeks+Fielder. We could probably live with one or the other, but I don't think the combination of the 2 is likely to get us to the playoffs
  12. Wasn't the reasoning/rumor on why Vargas was let go precisely that he wouldn't accept a bullpen role or demotion? Maybe I'm making that up. I don't think so, I think DM held on to Vargas longer than he should have because he thought he could trade Vargas. Releasing Vargas when he did cost the Brewers some money -- that is the only real questionable thing DM did with regard to Vargas. I would have rather kept Vargas as insurance and started Parra/Villy in AAA, but I didn't feel that strong about it.
  13. I am going to spend the summer Yosting a bunch of the local youth. Currently they are playing in T-shirts that have been recycled for 6+ seasons -- does anyone know of a good place to get new T-shirts/hats/jerseys? -- I'd like to get something better than T-shirts if at all possible. Thanks in advance.
  14. I hate Julian Tavarez. He is like watching a Kevin Costner movie with a Nickelback soundtrack at my inlaws for Thanksgiving.
  15. Yes, Estrada netted us Mota, who has been serviceable. We didn't need Estrada to get Mota -- Once we picked up Mota's salary the Mets were excited to dump him. I am not a big fan of Davis.
  16. I love that he was open to & has been committed to batting Kendall 9th. Yost reminds me of a fat guy at the salad bar in this instance. The fat guy decides he needs to lose weight, (which is a good idea), however the fat guy subsequently falls into the trap of thinking every thing on the salad bar is calorie free and tops off his 9 lb salad with pickled herring and 2 lbs of shredded cheese. I think it was nice to see Yost thinking out of the box, by moving the Kendall to the 9th spot -- I agree, -- however, batting the CF 2nd just because they were playing in Cameron's spot negates any wisdom in batting the pitcher 8th. I honestly don't believe a change in the Crew's management mid-season will make any difference, but, come October, if the Brewers aren't involved in the postseason, IMO Yost is toast. As vocal as I am about the Nedster, I really do not want to see him fired mid-season unless the Brewers are hopelessly in the toilet.
  17. Bush's performance has really been sliding the last 1+ years. Not sure what's going on there but I don't know if the Brewers even have a better option right now. Not good. This is about how I feel -- Especially after taking CV out of the rotation, I don't know who the Brewers (or us) should expect to take the ball. Maybe the NL has figured him out after a season.
  18. you sound like Pauly Shore looks
  19. In 2001 Davis had a 4.45 ERA in Texas, in 2002 it was a 4.98. Now thats not great but given the park it isn't bad. That Toronto cut him after a few starts was just stupid. Davis pitched in TOR in 2003. Davis made 11 starts had a 5.00 ERA and had a 1.77 WHIP. Toronto won 86 games in 2003, and was in a playoff race for most of the year, so I can understand their reluctance to keep giving the ball to a scrap heap pitcher. At the time Davis was pitching, I think he was a stop-gap for injured starters Walker and Escobar. When Escobar came back, Davis got the boot. Perhaps Toronto didn't feel the need to bury a pitcher like Davis at AAA.
  20. At the time, it was probably a fair trade for both sides, and now in retrospect, the D-Backs gave up a very large sum for 90 AB's. Fair enough -- I am sure that things didn't work out like the D-backs planned. So does anyone give Melvin credit for bringing us from a 60 win team to an 83 win team in 5 years? Sure -- However 83 wins is not the ceiling of the "5 year plan" I would hope.
  21. I do have to say that the Gorman Thomas trade is #1 on the worst list. It sucked the life out of Milwaukee, and they've never been to the playoffs since. It is the curse of Gorman Thomas. Agreed 100%. That trade made a lot of little kids cry.
  22. yeah -- Waits and Easterly were swapped as well.
  23. Since that time, it's shown that Arizona lost the deal by default, and the Brewers have little left to show for it 6 years later, but for the first 1-4 years of the deal, it was a total steal for the Crew. I have never understood the concept of "winning a trade". It seemed obvious to me at the time, the Brewers were looking for some plug-n-play placeholders for Hardy/Prince/Weeks. They got Spivey/Counsell/O. Mission accomplished -- I don't think though DM committed highway robbery. I think people are wrong to think DM screwed the D-backs, rather Sexson's injury did. Sexson had a 140+ OPS+ immediately before and after 2004, I think if Sexson would have been healthy and put up a +140 OPS+ they would do that trade again in a heartbeat. The deal made sense to me at the time, and it still does today. The D-backs dead weight became our place-holders. I just don't think it was a genius move by any means.
