  1. I'm against offering Gagne arbitration for this reason: I thought that if a team offers arbitration to the player, the player is guarenteed to get a raise from his previous year's salary? If this is true, Gagne is not worth more that $10M for next year. I'd be fine with the Brewers offering a 1 year deal for 4-5M. Does anyone know if this is indeed true?
  2. Believe it or not......Scott Bartell was there. So was DJ "Jazzy" Jeff and the "Fresh" Prince. http://photos-b.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v353/167/86/73402560/n73402560_34358369_4957.jpg
  3. Do we have a thread where fans are posting pics from the September 28th day of awesomeness? http://d.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/ap/20080928/capt.61525ed5ae7c478bae25359bac0c3587.cubs_brewers_baseball_wimg120.jpg
  4. Thinking back to 1982, the Brewer fans adopted the song "celebration" by kool and the gang to be the 82 Brewers theme song. In 1987, "team streak" adopted the song "i'm a believer" by the monkees. What song have/should the brewer fans adopt for the 2008 playoff team? I'm not sure if any of the player intro songs are appropriate, but I think it would be best if it is a song for this era of music. Any suggestions?
  5. I want to personally thank Ned Yost for helping to keep Wes Helms in the Majors this long. GO BREWERS!
  6. This is not an official thread, so I guess it can't really be official. I suspect Tom Hardicourt will have the news out shortly. He's probably busy working on his "exclusive" or being a jerk to nerds on his blog. It will be "official" soon.
  7. It's official: CC Sabathia on Wednesday Yovani Gallardo on Thursday GO BREWERS!
  8. ....click on this link. http://www.youtube.com/wa...xx52M&feature=related http://img2.timeinc.net/ew/dynamic/imgs/041012/16553__sheen_l.jpg GO BREWERS!
  9. I literally had nightmares last night about Thursday afternoon's game. I'm afraid this is the type of game that will haunt the Brewers forever. So, in a word, yes.
  10. If the Brewers start CC on 3 days rest the last 2 weeks, it will give him an additional start during the regular season. Sept. 16 at Cubs Sept. 20 at Reds Sept. 24 vs. Pirates Sept. 28 vs. Cubs Come on Dale....let's ride this horse! Playoffs or bust. Thoughts?
  11. The Brew Crew Review recently interviewed top brewers prospect Matt LaPorta. The episode containing the interview is currently available to be downloaded on Time Warner Cable Channel 1111 under Sports & Fitness/Brewers. http://brewcrewreview.com/ or You can also check out the Brew Crew Review's Top 30 future Brewers rankings: Thoughts?
  12. I'll take the Houston Astros.
  13. Anthony Hewitt and Cutter Dykstra were at Miller Park workout. I believe Brett Lawrie was also there. Also unconfirmed: Tim Melville may have also been at Miller Park last weekend.
  14. Here is a youtube link to a Brew Crew Review interview with Tim Dillard at Nashville last spring. Link He seems like a pretty cool guy.
  15. Check out the next episode of The Brew Crew Review on Wisconsin On Demand Channel 1111 under Sports/Brewers. (available in a few days) For now, here is a link of a Early First Round Mock Draft up until the Brewers pick at #16 with Brewerfan.net's own draft expert, Patrick Ebert. Check it out.
  16. Interesting factoid: Brewer batters are not patient. Through 9 innings, the Brewers pitchers have thrown 197 pitches; the Cardinals pitchers 151. This is going to be a problem all season unless the Brewers are more selective at the plate.
  17. Here's an interesting question. Last offseason, we inked free agent Jeff Suppan to a 4 year- $42 million contract. Did the Brewers make a mistake by signing a mediocre pitcher for that long? Will his contact prevent us from re-signing Sheets or locking up one of our youngsters? Career numbers: Age: Suppan- 33 Vargas- 28 ERA Suppan 4.61 Vargas 4.95 WHIP Suppan 1.43 Vargas 1.46 2008 Rotation with Soup Sheets Suppan Gallardo Bush Villanueva 2008 Rotation without Soup Sheets Gallardo Bush Villanueva Parra (Vargas as a 6th starter) Thoughts?
  18. Somehow the Mets didn't have to part with their top prospect (F. Martinez) or someone with MLB experience, and still landed the best pitcher in baseball. The package the A's got for Haren is far better than this. For a Brewers fan's perspective, the package the Twins got would be comparable to this: Tony Gwynn Jr. (Gomez) Jeremy Jeffress (Guerra) Mark Rogers (Humber) Zach Jackson (Mulvey) If I were the Brew Crew, I'd do this in a heartbeat. Of couse, that's a pipe dream b/c the Brewers could never offer Santana a contract he's looking for. It's scary to think that Santana will be on an NL contender for at least the next six years. Not good news for Brewer fans, IMO.
  19. Fans keep mentioning that Prince is "tight" with Rickie Weeks and Tony Gwynn Jr. While they are friends, I think this was mostly exaggerated by the media based on obvious stereotypes. I've spoken with Prince's wife at a game in Toronto, and I know for a fact that Corey Hart is Prince's closest friend/teammate.
  20. Saying Milwaukee is not deserving of a Major League team is a bunch of hogwash, balderdash, and poppycock! Last year, fans rewarded the franchises first winning team in 13 years with a franchise record attendance, which ranked 12th out of 30 major league teams I might add. Baseball IS America, and to suggest eliminating teams in most of the "heartland" of America is just non-sense. The building of Miller Park did not "rip off tax payers", instead, it helps fuel the local economy while keeping younger people and future business owners from leaving the city for greener pastures. If MLB baseball would have left Milwaukee, I would have left this "crap hole" of a city that otherwise offers long-cold winters, out-of-shape and unattractive women, and expensive festival beer a long, long time ago. Go BREWERS and GO BUD!
