  1. I think that there is some edginess becasue of the random nature of these crimes and where they took place (and who the victims were). That said murders do happen in and around Madison more frequently then some people think so some of this is overblown IMO. I can't criticize the police. This is allegedly a random act which must be hard to solve quickly without witnesses or other source of identification.
  2. Tejada Home Run off Z, Astros tie it up at 2 in Wrigley in the 7th
  3. While I agree that Prince is by no means svelte, I'm not sure Iagree that he will balloon in the next 5-6 years due to motivational issues. The whole reason why he slimmed down in HS was because people doubted him because of his weight. We have all seen how motivated Prince is to not end up like his father and to prove people who doubt him wrong. Further he has made the decision to improve his diet (whether or not weight is the intended result it may occur anyway) and is by no means "fatty" right now. That said injury and age will eventually catch up but I'm naive enough to think Prince will do everything to prevent that from happening from happening for awhile.
  4. Nix drives in another run (yay!) on a hit and run. That is at least the third hit and run i can remember resulting in one double play and a couple of hits. My question is is this team really going to run like this during the season? My concern is that while there is a lot of speed there arn't a whole lot of really good contact hitters.
  5. Col. Nathan R Gessup did not in fact order the code red, gets his star becomes a member of the Joint Chiefs where he is integral in planning the invasion of Cuba to get those who try to kill him during breakfast. Lt. Caffey is disbarred, loses his steak knives and boots the game winning pop up against Bethesda Medical, he is never seen again. Pvts. Downey and Dawson are imprisoned and eventually transferred to Abu Ghraib.
  6. I'd like to disagree with this if you look at the best mens players they are good servers but not reliant on the serve. Federer and Djokovic are all court players, Nadal is frequently criticized for not serving well enough. From there Davydenko, Ferrer, Hewitt, Nalbandian heck even Jams Blake would rather use other weapons. Roddick may be the only player at the top of the rankings who is dependant on his serve to win. On the womens side power and shorter points has been the trend with Sharapova and the Williams sisters, Henin has also changed her game to shorten points. Not that either is better than the other it's just different
  7. I watched the Ivanovic-Hantuchova match as well and agree that Ivanovic showed a lot of toughness, that said Hantuchova's MO is to struggle with Emotions/Pressure. The turning point seemed to be Ivanovic started running around her backhand and dictating with her forehand. I doubt Ivanovic has the same margain for error early on agianst Sharapova.
  8. Brantley with a walk off "jack-jack-jackedy-jack". I love "Bull".
  9. I'm as mad as everyone but we should all remeber Bill Hall is due up forth in thsi inninghttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  10. I was at the Sounds- Cubs game tonite and while i'm not a scout or anything. Ben Hendrickson was VERY impressive. His fastball seemed to be much better than i remeber (He also had the highest reading on the stadium gun which was hard to believe) he was using it to get ahead and then using the curve very effectively down in the zone. I didn't notice anything extraordinary on offense except the Sounds were always on base with very few runs. Best play of the night by far was Nelson Cruz' throw from deep right to third base. Partly because as he was catching the ball i said that if the runner went he would be out.... and he was by a mile. By far the best throw i have ever seen (Sorry Jenks), even my Cub fan friends were impressed. And more importantly i got a freee beer for calling it. On another note a perfec night for baseball in a pretty good environment in Des Moines.
  11. I was at the sounds game tonite and it was rpetty obvious that Thompson didn't have he was behind everyone and the grand slam by Pie was a result of a bad pitch sequence (acoording to the pitching coach, who was using it to explain what not to do to Demaria and Stetter). Chavez really kepot the Cubs off balance it seemed but the radar gun was so horribly off it was useless to find out how hard he was throwing. Mike Adams pitched well but only for an inning The sounds bats were mostly stifled by some good pitching, however some things I noticed -The wind was blowing out on Rottino's homer but that ball was still crushed -Nelson Cruz stung the ball early and did some good situational hitting later (sac fly unlike the Brewers today) - Brad Nelson looked lost to me That's all that strikles me now
