  1. It looks like Inman took the loss. Edited -- thanks, I changed my wording. (Mass Haas)
  2. Already there, thanks to the cross pollenation of hip hop styled sampling. Cross-pollination? You think sampling music caused the current state of pop music? Big corporations did that on their own. A real drummer will, like a snowflake, be different. Real drummer's don't play the same beats ever? Please. Just because you get a live drummer, doesn't mean you get an original sound every time.
  3. I'm not sure if your statement is tongue-in-cheek, because I am in complete disagreement. It is ultimately artistically lazy, and leads to overindulgent, unlistenable crud. On a worldwide scale. Even the video's author seemed to agree on that point. Listen to the Squarepusher cut again and tell me it's artistically lazy. The author's point was to explain how over-protection leads to a sterile environment. Don't agree that derivative outlawism leads to boring, derivative artistic culture? Ever seen a graffiti artist that blew your mind with originality? I've seen many graffiti writings and showcases. And if that is your cup of tea, then yes, it would blow your mind with originality. Why recording producers can't just hire a drummer is beyond me. Even if you hire a drummer to play the Amen break, it still violates copyright rules. Imagine if the Beatles had recorded Sgt. Peppers in a day. I'm sure if they had the technology we have today, it would have been much quicker to record. And I don't think all the LSD helped production efficiency either. Thank god for copyright laws, lawyers and big corporations. That derivative hip-hop explosion won't happen again. Whew. Again, I don't know if this supposed to be in blue, but wow. Welcome to pop music nothingness.
  4. Thanks for the post, Brian. I'm not sure where this thread is going, but the "golden age" of hip-hop was almost solely based on breaks. Hell, the first expressions of hip-hop music were DJ's looping breaks every 20 to 30 seconds.
  5. I think someone mentioned this before but, man, Chris Errecart is quietly having a monster season.
  6. I'm not saying that Escobar will hit better than Hardy, I'm simply saying that it's possible. Also, my statement is for future considerations, and certainly not for this year.
  7. Escobar doesn't play in triple-A. There isn't really anything to suggest that Escobar will not outhit Hardy. It's not like it would take that much to do so anyways. Also, Hardy plays fine defense. There wouldn't be that great of an improvement, if any at all, other than range. (pared back long quote --1992)
  8. I disagree. The correlation is obvious; there is a distinct trend between low walk rates and Outside Swing Percentage. The correlation is obvious, but not noteworthy. The more a player swings outside of the zone, the less they walk. No need for a graph to prove that.
  9. I remember hearing that Jason did extensive work with his dad.
  10. Unreal. The Brewers are absolutely horrible in sacrifice opportunities.
  11. Pujols playing 2nd, this should be interesting.
  12. Mitch Stetter has not been overworked.
  13. Counsell's batting stance looks much less...strangling?
  14. He still didn't look completely comfortable. The St. Louis broadcasters noted that he was getting audibly frustrated during his warm up tosses as well. As long as he keeps missing down, he should be alright.
  15. Again, a low and away breaking pitch gets pulled to the shortstop.
  16. Nice approach by JJ. Outside pitch- pull a slow roller to the left side. Excellent.
  17. It was a free, 4-song set, not a concert. If the real Petty fans wanted to be there, they could have been, and probably were. The reason why you only see young kids is because of the all out sprint to the stage. Count me in as a non-blonde, non-fratchoade.
  18. I was probably 10 feet away from Tom Petty, so I thought the show was amazing. There was a gigantic pyro show planned, but it was slightly raining and the stadium crew decided to shut the roof. I guess there were going to be arrows shot from the roof to the field, illuminating the band in fireworks. As for the performance, and general choice of artist, I don't think they could of picked anyone better. This was the most responsive crowd in the past six years (per a friend who runs game ops for the Superbowl). If a pop/hip hop artist plays, you cut out 80% of the general demographic at the game. Overall it was a pretty surreal experience. The Alicia Keys pregame concert was also amazing, partly because there were only 400 people for it and partly because she winked at me...or at one of my friends, depending on who you ask.
  19. Not to hijack the thread or anything, but Arizona just traded away one of their top prospects for a future bullpen arm who's currently in AAA. Link
