  1. A friend and I are going to be starting a fantasy sports website in the coming months. We're trying to gather as much information from as many people as possible. If you are a fantasy player and are open to share your opinions, I'd greatly appreciate your input on the following questions. What website are you currently using for your fantasy league? How much time do you devote to fantasy sports? In regards to the site specifically, what sort of things do you really enjoy about your current league setup? These could be things that have evolved over time or are staples of the site. What sort of things do you dislike about your current league? What improvements would you like to see made? What sort of things do you consider unnnecessary? What other sources (other than the host site) do you use for fantasy information? Have you tried multiple sites for fantasy sports, and if so, why did you switch? If another site were able to meet your needs as a fantasy participant, would you consider moving your league? Any and all information is valuable to us. Thanks.
  2. Looks like Lucroy went 3 for 3 in throwing runners out today. Just need his bat to get hot.
  3. It's not like these guys are making spreadsheets and phone calls. They are multi-million dollar professional athletes playing in an environment which requires a lot more attention to detail than your everyday "workplace". I'm not exactly sure where the idea that these guys can't be yelled at is coming from. It doesn't matter if it's a burger after the game or the way the hitter's right foot inches towards the plate right after a low and away curve is called. If you think a player has never refocused after being reamed out, then there isn't a conversation here.
  4. I'm not exactly sure what you're saying but, yes, players do often forget what has made them successful. Yelling won't directly improve their accuracy, but it may improve their focus.
  5. I think this a common misconception. You're not a professional athlete with the ability to chose between nibbling and pounding the zone. Little league or major league, managers are responsible for regaining their teams' focus. Whether yelling helps or not, we don't know, but you can't discount it as if these players are completely impervious to negative reinforcement.
  6. I don't know about the Diamondbacks being that high on the list. Arizona fans are extremely fair-weather.
  7. She wants $15 million for testing negative? Wow. I like how the article noted her "lavish" home and Cadillac Escalade.
  8. Probably the best pitcher I will ever have the pleasure of watching. Simply a magician with the ball.
  9. Dustin Pedroia slugged .490 this year and there's no way he's over 5'7".
  10. Kapler's catch against the Dodgers is an all-time great for me. Bush's words at 0:16 were exactly what I said (have to do some lip reading).
  11. In regards to the PTBNL with Cleveland, we get to keep Brantley AND Taylor Green (assuming the front office chooses Cain as the odd man out).
  12. 4th place here we come!
  13. Other than lingering effects from the ACL, he should have no trouble pitching in the middle of a game.
  14. I've never seen a show quite like The Wire and doubt I ever will. The character development and concluding arcs are eerily enchanting. Not to downgrade a show as entertaining as The Shield, but it doesn't come close to The Wire.
  15. And the new most annoying Aflac trivia question becomes...who was the first player to throw a no-hitter at Miller Park? Great.
  16. Society for American baseball research.
  17. Josh Hamilton is far and away the AL comeback player of the year. In the NL Wood will probably get it, but Kapler and Gerut are also deserving.
  18. I'd give Gamel a shot in Sheets' next start. Given Benny's propensity for fly ball outs and quickness on the mound, Gamel shouldn't have as many opportunities as in a Suppan pitched ballgame.
  19. I read it. Twice now. Mediocre and 6th aren't popping up.
  20. Has anyone in this thread called Prince a mediocre batter who should bat 6th or lower? That seems pretty simple.
  21. The starting pitching is vastly improved from last year. I'd say that this squad is slightly better, but hasn't been exposed as much.
  22. I don't think it's that bold at all. Randy Johnson absolutely owns the Cubs. I think I read that his success versus the Cubs is the second best record against a single opponent in MLB history. The only problem is the Dbacks bullpen. Their top three starters would need to go 7+ for them to have any chance. I'd take the odds on AZ in a short series.
  23. Best commissioner ever? Every commissioner has had major flaws, so being the best of the worst is not something to write home about. The steriod era, although not his doing, was propelled by his blind eye. His aloofness surrounding performance enhancing drugs is as bad as anything good he's done. Grade - C+
  24. I really like Braun's comments about breaking the monotony. If Prince wanted to, he could have swung at Manny. Shoving is frustration, not an act of animosity (i.e. Barret v. Zambrano). Maybe this will put Prince's head in the right place. I can picture Simba raising his cap just enough to see what all the commotion is about, and after a small chuckle, goes back to flipping his ball in the air.
