  1. Morgan has so many issues, but for some reason I can't help but laugh.
  2. I think it is a combination of being in a slump and pressing to show up the D'backs fans I never had a problem with AZ at all, in fact I would often root for them over the other teams in the west, but this whole all-star home run derby thing just rubs me the wrong way.
  3. I'm tired enough I want to go to bed but I also would like some more runs.
  4. Wow, after Prince does his best to give the game away, AZ returning the favor. That Balk was huge.
  5. I'm not sure there is a right answer here, it depends what you believe in and what perspective you choose to take. Personally, I don't like the 100 pitch threshold for pitchers in their peak years and I hate defined bullpen roles and switching relievers for the sake of switching relievers. If you believe in defined bullpen roles, I have no problem with your opinion on it, most people like the whole "each reliever has his own inning" concept.
  6. Well this is looking much better all of sudden, apparently only the Brewers use the contact play every time a runner is on 3rd.
  7. you forgot to mention all of us posters on BF.net as well.... that's normally how those posts end. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  8. Depends on the severity... possibly. Could be back by late Sept best case.
  9. Well that was a bad pitch Saito... please don't them steal one.
  10. I'm all for the kids gloves thing with young pitchers, I think it's necessary. However once they've reached physical maturity, let em roll until you absolutely need to take them out of the game. The reason most pitchers in the bullpen are there in the first place is because they couldn't hack it starting, so they aren't as good to begin with. I agree Narvy is prone to the big inning, but so in Greinke and he wouldn't have been pulled there. Generally speaking I don't like it when the 7th inning guy gets through the inning in less than 10 pitches and the 8th inning guy is brought in just because he's the 8th inning guy. I'd rather run the 7th inning through the 8th if he's on. I really don't even like the 100 pitch thing... it's completely arbitrary, most established MLB starting pitchers could probably push up to 120 every start without a problem. Max pitch count will vary by pitcher, start, weather, etc.. I haven't seen a single study proving that 100 pitches was the correct average threshold for MLB starting pitchers.
  11. Ohh no. I didn't like pulling Narvy when he's cruising. I understand the whole 8th/9th inning thing, just don't agree. Too bad Chris, you pitched a gem. Hopefully K-Rod can end it here with a tie.
  12. running with that comment could get me into quite a bit of trouble around here.
  13. I haven't given up on Kentrail, though I can see where people might get that impression from my post. I was just musing on our drafts and people's top 10 lists, I think he's only on 1? All 3 of those guys from the 2009 first round should be no doubt, no brainer, top 10 players, especially given the state of the system. It's not good when the very raw D'Vo is outperforming a #1 pick at the plate in less than 2 seasons. Bold predictions typically aren't my thing but I do think D'Vo is going to eventually SLG .450+, if he can become more intelligent baseball wise, he could have a very nice career. Mostly it's stuff that should be easy to correct, just quit making bad outs on the bases and silly errors in the field.
  14. Too bad for Drew, the same thing happened to Hardy almost the same way.
  15. My father and I were watching the game and we both though Gomez broke his collar bone. It's either that or a discolated/sublexed shoulder, it just didn't look good.
  16. Khris Davis has an OPS over 250 points higher than Kentrail... If Heckathorn doesn't make it that might be the worst 1st round in Brewer history. In 2009 if you had told us Kentrail would have a .700ish OPS in A ball no one would have believed you, except maybe X, I think he was quite hard on that pick initially.
  17. Certainly to be a top prospect one has to be somewhat productive, however since I only have 3 players in my 10 that I put there based production (Davis, Green, and Gindl) I would think it's fair to say that most people on the MiLB forum take upside over production. The discussion about Austin Ross was a good example. Personally I think Jungmann tops out as a 3 unless he does some major work, I wouldn't put him in the top 10 simply because the system stinks and he was a #1 pick. On the other hand I really like Lopez' upside and he would have been in the top 10 had he signed bumping Manzanillo out. Upside is also why I have Scarpetta lower than most, I just didn't see much upside in him when I saw him pitch as his body was filled out and he was topping out at 91, also his walk rate is still a huge concern for me. Anyone younger than 18 who's raking regardless of level has huge upside and that's mostly why I put Arcia where I did.
  18. I'm still shocked that someone like Krestalude was let go and someone like Pascual is still pitching, dump the dude already.
  19. Again, no way am I trading any kind of prospect for an expensive bench player, especially with a divisional opponent.
  20. Not sure I would qualify only 5 IP and 3 BB as great. I'd hope he'd more efficient at some point and those walks would return more to his WI rate before a promotion.
  21. They wouldn't be asking him to bat in the middle order or be the closer, they would be asking him to put up >.600 OPS and play decent defense. Let's a keep a little perspective here, he'd be nothing more than a role player. No one expected Lucroy to come in and play like Posey either.
  22. Just so I understand, you want us to pay what's left of Fukudome's contract to be a bench player? Or you expect the Cubs to kick in some cash and help a division rival just to get an already expiring contract off their books? This isn't close to the same situation as K-Rod, and there's no way I'm helping anyone in the division even by sending them a marginal prospect so we can upgrade our bench. Look at the contract details below, especially the 2 lines I bolded. Kosuke Fukudome of 4 years/$48M (2008-11) 4 years/$48M (2008-11) [li]signed by Cubs as a free agent from Japan 12/12/07$4M signing bonus 08:$6M, 09:$11.5M, 10:$13M, 11:$13.5M no-trade protection club must sign Fukudome to an extension by 11/15/2011 or release him, allowing him to become a free agent award bonuses: $0.3M each for MVP, WS MVP, $0.2M for LCS MVP, $0.1M Silver Slugger, $75,000 each for Gold Glove, All Star perks: 8 first-class round-trip air tickets between Japan and Chicago for family each year, personal trainer, masseuse, interpreter, visa expenses, $25,000 annually in moving expenses, vehicle during spring training and regular season Fukudome to make annual donation to club charity [/li] agent: Joe Urbon ML service: 3.000
  23. I'm pretty sure that's what everyone did, at least that's what I did.
