  1. Wow, the Brewers took a guy I actually liked! That's a first, but that also essentially means there's no way McKenzie gets picked up by the Crew, I really don't have a good explanation why I like McKenzie so much, his video just grabbed me.
  2. There Cameron goes, must be nice to have Houston's bonus pool, though it cost them Aiken last year.
  3. Well I jinxed it, defense has cost the T-Rats the last 2 runs, and now Rizzo has come unglued...
  4. Thank god Funkhouser will not be a Brewer, that is all.
  5. An exceptional history of injury prevention? Nelson and tomorrow Jungmann are the only 2 pitchers to come through the system without having surgery at some point. Its easy to look at what might seem like they have a lot of injuries but that would be only if you compare them to nobody else "In the last 10 years, the Brewers have had just two big leaguers undergo Tommy John surgery, the lowest number in the majors. The entire organization, including the minors, has been just as successful at avoiding the pitcher's worst nightmare — only 12 total procedures since 2005, the second lowest rate of the 30 teams." They would be tied for the lowest if it wasnt for Johnny Hellweg and I think its fair to say the angels played a part in that. Yes but again most of their starters came from outside the organization or had surgery before getting to Milwaukee, it's not really a true assessment of the organization as a whole. I forgot that Thornburg narrowly avoided surgery with the injection, but he still missed basically an entire year. It's another argument that depends entirely on how it's framed, by limiting the query to MLB pitching and TJ it ignores all of TJ in the minors, any other significant injuries, and the larger truth that Brewers have been awful developing pitching. Of course guys like Wolf and Sheets who went under the knife after being let go didn't count either. I realize TJ is the hot injury topic, but the issues go back farther, all the way to middle school and specialization for most of these guys, TJ incidents aren't really about what teams are doing developing pitching when the overwhelming majority are doing the exact same things. The Brewers are not exceptional in any way, they just follow the same "proven" format as everyone else.
  6. X is the only one with an uncanny knack for calling Brewer picks, the rest of us are just scrubs.
  7. Colorado has done very well the last 2 years in the first round.
  8. I'm still interested in Triston McKenzie.
  9. An exceptional history of injury prevention? Nelson and tomorrow Jungmann are the only 2 pitchers to come through the system without having surgery at some point.
  10. If only we had a pitchers park we could win 3 WS in 5 years....
  11. The division has had an interesting day so far. San Fran continues to pick their kind of pitching, I wish the Brewers were as good as they have been with pitching. CF is becoming pretty deep, a legit player at every level from AA on down now. Speaking of which, Michael Gettys who some posters liked last year is currently playing against the T-Rats right now.
  12. The Rattlers are playing awesome defense behind Hirsch, lots of loud outs and tough plays but nothing on the board.
  13. The T-Rats have made 2 outs at home and 1 at 3rd in the first 3 innings and are still up 4-0, that's not something we've been able to say very often this season. Edit. I mean giving outs away on the bases and still being up big, not the specific situation.
  14. Because the original post was a blanket statement claiming/suggesting that all college pitchers are abused and never work out, thus HS pitchers are better. I was never stating that college pitchers, as a blanket statement, are better; I was stating that not all college pitchers are abused and thus flame out. Some college pitchers, like Sheets, do very well. It's about the context of the original post, not what you infer from my response. Ya that's it... I inferred that you cherry picked another argument, regardless I'm done with this conversation.
  15. Clark is interesting, probably BPA, but unorthodox. I like the pick way more than any of the 4yr pitchers the Brewers were linked to.
  16. Okay, but then why exclude Jungmann and Bradley then? At least present an even argument instead of cherry picking the absolute best case which fits your argument.
  17. I'm still all about Allard right now.
  18. Ben Sheets worked out a lot better than J.M. Gold, Mike Jones, Mark Rogers, and Jeremy Jeffress. Why do you continually ignore draft position? We aren't drafting in the top 10 where the best college pitchers typically go. Last year was a year to grab an impact college pitcher after the top 10 spots, this isn't one of those years. Regardless the Brewers haven't hit many HRs with college pitchers in the first round either.
  19. Best arm... Maybe, not best pitcher.
  20. This coverage is awful, might have to turn off the sound.
  21. The statistical average was 27-29 back when I cared enough to read more on Sabermetrics than I do now. Maybe that's changed over the last 5-10 years as offense has declined, I haven't kept up.
