    I really don't think there is much correlation between Attanasio's business and the Brewers. It's not like he's running the team on his own dime. Maybe I'm confused... but I thought that's what you are doing when you own a business.

    Like endaround said, they would have likely received better value by keeping Cameron next year and taking draft picks for him in 2010. That or trading him mid-season. Since when are draft picks worth over 9 million dollars?

    Lets not jump off ship yet. If no signings are made before the season, then yes, lets get a little upset. I've got them at about 65 Million right now, taking arbitration eligible players into account. There is still plenty of room (and plenty of FAs) to make a move.

    So the Brewers aren't going to compete next year but the Mariners are? We don't care if they are or not. If we don't think we are going to compete, now is a good time to reload for next year. Its up to them why they would want fielder.

    It sounds like the Brewers are willing to give more than the 5 years 100 million. I don't understand why we would assume that is the stopping point, especially with an opt out clause.

    Yes. Its fairly easy to see that a opt out is lose-lose for the Brewers. If Sabathia is worth more than his remaining contract he opts out meaning the Brewers lose because they could have traded Sabathia and now can't. If he is worth less that the remaining contract he stays with the Brewers with the Brewers overpaying for him. You are ignoring the part where we win... we sign CC Sabathia.
