  1. STL plays Chicago. Brewers almost have to sweep Miami. Wouldn't mind a STL and MIL sweep so everybody is at 80 wins come Monday morning. If the Brewers win 2 and Chicago sweeps, that's 4 back with 13 to play. I don't like it.
  2. http://m.mlb.com/news/article/253993996/japans-shohei-ohtani-reportedly-to-be-posted/?topicId=27118122 Not sure I fully expect the Brewers to be truly involved in Asian talent, but here's hoping. Guy can apparently pitch and pinch hit on his days off? Probably best suited for the AL and DH if somebody would even let him play both ways. Dodgers, Braves, Cubs, White Sox, Reds, Astros, Royals, Athletics, Cardinals, Padres, Giants and Nationals don't have enough money I guess to get him. So that leaves the Yankees, Mets, and Angels?
  3. And I thought George Webb was being generous! http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/20623379/local-window-company-give-17-million-customer-rebates-cleveland-indians-win-streak-reaches-15
  4. 3 Wash (1-2) 3 @ Cinci (2-1) 3 @ Cubs (1-2) 3 Pitt (2-1) 3 @ Miami (2-1) 3 @Pitt (1-2) 4 Cubs (1-3) 3 Cinci (2-1) 3 @ StL (1-2) 13-15 (Finish above .500! 83-79). Very good season for a .465 talent club. Rockies go 16-13 and Cubs play .700 ball. Rockies have just too many games against SD, SF, and a LAD team with nothing to play for from Mid-Sept on.
  5. Off topic I suppose. I'm not enamored with Hundley at all. I've never observed a worse method of QB sneaking on 4th and Inches in my life....twice.
  6. Late to the game and not sure if it was posted, but Adrian Beltre got ejected for moving the location of the on-deck circle. LMAO. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbSKXQdQPaY
  7. There is still time. But I've seen nothing from our offensive approach that suggests they haven't already decided what movie to watch on the plane ride home.
  8. I can't fathom how this .470ish talent team has fooled everybody for 4 months.
  9. Who was the person saying everyone on this board is an idiot and Counsell knows better? Not me. I don't have confidence in Counsell as a game manager in any way, shape, or form.
  10. Garza looks like he doesn't have the stuff to get another guy out. Hope I'm wrong.
  11. Yup, the Brewers have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory so many times this year. I don't recall the last snatch of victory at this point. Maybe Thames walkoff after trailing the Padres in June?
  12. Bunting: Scoring Runs Since The Beginning of Time
  13. Watching meatballs go by down the middle and swinging at balls out of the strike zone....so frustrating.
  14. Apparently he wants to make us believe the first time was intentional...
  15. Torres must be too familiar with having base runners.
  16. Instead of a take sign to allow steal attempt, he is swinging away into DP. I've watched this nightmare so many times yet can't look away.
  17. Steal, then bunt him over and fly ball. This should be strategy 101 in the 8th. My experiences tell me he'll be stranded there at first base.
  18. Just another example of why you bunt runners up late in games. Tons of ways to get in from 3rd base.
  19. I've been a "member" of BF.net since 2001 or 2002. I was largely absent from posting and viewing from 2012 through to a couple of months ago. It is just my impression that the tone utilized between users today is much more snarky and argumentative than it was in the past. Rather than discussions, it seems as if everything is a constant argument and there are many more instances of "personal attacks" that are veiled to not cross the forum rules. Is this just my perception. Is this just sports discussions today that everything must have a "one up the other" mentality. It just feels more like "Around the Horn" or "Pardon the Interruption" like rather than a group of fans discussing a common interest. I'm not sure there is anything that can be done about it. I just wondered if it was me getting older and not understanding the passionate generation of fans behind me? Or maybe my perceptions are just off? It just doesn't feel like the BF.net I grew up with.
  20. Here is the article I was thinking of http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=13109 Here is a new article I guess as there was a shift away from Pitch/FX to Statcast this year. https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/baseballs-new-pitch-tracking-system-is-just-a-bit-outside/ The end result for me is I don't even look at it. The only value to Gameday for me is "In play, Runs" or Not.
  21. No. It was Pitch/FX. I will see if I can find the data study.
  22. There was an article not too long ago about Pitch/FX and the reliability of it's data. The end result to me was that the Std Dev was too great in terms of inches both vertically and horizontally for me to even care about it anymore. FWIW...just about nil, IMHO. A standard deviation of inches seems shocking to me; not questioning it. To my average eyesight, it looks as though the computer takes note of pitch location in relation closer to where it's caught rather than where it crosses home plate. Maybe my timing is off but the location shown is always off a little bit to my eye when they show that in slow-motion. I'd have to find the article. IIRC, Miller Park's cameras were the worst of the 30 parks studied. I want to say it was nearly 2 inches towards first base.
