  1. For many casual fans, if a pitcher scatters 4 runs over 7 innings, that's not as bad as giving up a 4 spot in one inning and pitching 6 scoreless. The more runs given up at once, the worse the pitcher is viewed by many.
  2. Just seeing the name Shane Youman makes me fear. I played him 5 or 6 times in MLB 07 The Show and this guy owned me pretty hard when I played him, lol. I'd beat him, but they would be 2-1, 3-1, 4-0 games. Here's hoping that we continue crushing lefties as we have been. Youman, prepare to get Menched! Also, lets hope for Cappy to have a good first start back.
  3. Offense: B (peaks and valleys boys, peaks and valleys. When Billy gets all the way back on track and Rickie is healthy and this could be an A or A-) Defense: C (we're getting better, this could probably be a solid B by the end of the year. The Bill Hall CF experiment, Kevin Mench, and some of the mental mistakes on the infield bring this to a C so far) Starters: B+ (other than a rough few weeks, we've had great starting pitching) Bullpen: B (Turnbow, Cordero, and Villanueva have been very good. Wise is Wise. Spurling has been nothing if not unspectactularly effective. Capellan, Shouse and Aquino have been meh) Management: B (Ned has gotten better at pulling the strings when he needs to) Overall: A- (when you put all of the pieces together, we've played much better than I would have expected coming into the year) Announcer Grades: BA: B+ (He's growing into his role nicely) Rock: B+ (BA compliments him well) Craig: C (He is what he is) Davey: C (Once his on-camera persona catches up to his knowledge, he will be really fun to watch) Carroll: D (She has gotten better from the beginning of the season)
  4. Those are some freaky parallels. I guess Soup will just have to pitch 8 innings tonight and hand the ball to Spurling in a blowout to make sure 'bow doesn't pitch. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Bill Hall owns the Reds http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif ... I don't necessarily fear Houston, although I do fear Carlos Lee hitting HR's against us, lol.
  5. The July 3rd Summerfest fireworks are scheduled to start at 9:30pm, weather permitting of course. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  6. According to JSOnline, Sheets has been named pitcher of the month, and Ryan Braun was rookie of the month: www.jsonline.com/watch/?w...7&id=25880
  7. That's an awesome recap. Congrats on the positive exposure and hopefully the site is voted best. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif
  8. I was never a big Capellan fan so I'm not sad to see him go, but I am not going to wish anything bad on him. That is unless we face Detroit in the WS, at which point I hope Capellan implodes and costs the Tigers a couple of games. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  9. Your starter at first base is Prince Fielder!
  10. Rules were: fans vote 8 starters. Players vote 8 position players, 5 starters and 3 relievers. Manager fills in the holes and makes sure one player is picked from each team.
  11. Apparently the AL roster is being announced first, so this might take a while. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
  12. My thoughts exactly Peavey. Now watch them go to commercial before doing the NL.
  13. Marquis is only at 77 pitches through 7. He may go CG on us if we're not careful.
  14. That Hart catch will make BBTN later. They love those type of catches, lol.
  15. We are pretty much where we can be as far as big moves, other than in the bullpen. Maybe acquiring another middle-late innings reliever (preferably LH) would be the best upgrade we could make. Could we upgrade LF? Probably. Would it be beneficial to us to mortgage the future for another 50 points of OPS this year? Probably not. We could always get a better PH than Gabe Gross, but it would have to be a veteran guy who wouldn't care he never gets PT.
  16. I think we're fine with long relief if Bush completely implodes, Claudio Vargas probably could pitch a couple innings today, then we can piece the rest together with Spurls, Wise, Villanueva, etc.
  17. Well, the bad Dave Bush was about due for an appearance. lol
  18. I enjoyed watching the game, although it was kind of weird listening to Vasgersian after playing so much MLB 07 The Show. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif Lets hope for the good Dave Bush tomorrow and a series W.
  19. Show 'em why you deserve to be going to San Francisco in a few weeks, Benny. Lineup against LHP, I demand production.
  20. We deserved to lose that game after our pathetic offensive showing for the last 8 innings.
  21. Estrada with a good AB and Mench homering? What is this, the twilight zone? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
  22. Our splits against Hill are pretty ugly, but I hope we can go in there take this game behind Yo!
  23. Wise's change seems to have a pretty nice drop to it, so between that and the fact he can spot it pretty much anywhere he wants, hitters are caught off guard by it.
  24. Miller was a replacement player during the 1994 strike, thus he is disallowed from becoming a member of the players union.
