Frustrating loss. I was at the game and wasn't really going to say anything about it, but the response RRR gave to why Stetter pitched to Votto instead of walking him annoyed me. Why was it too early, Ron? Because the manager's book says so? I realize this argument falls on deaf ears when it comes to baseball people, but if the game is on the line use your best reliever. Worry about the next inning when it gets there. Basically what he's saying is he doesn't have confidence in Sean Green to throw quality strikes. If that's the case, why is Green pitching in the highest leverage situation of the ballgame? Because the manager's book says so. Dusty brought in his best reliever in the highest leverage situation his team faced and we saw how that worked out. Dusty also yanked his starter for a LOOGY in a tight spot, costing his guy a chance to win but keeping the game where it was. Granted, this is Dusty and he does some crazy things, but it worked out for him this time. On the flip side, if Sean Green has to pitch to 7-9 in the 8th inning in a tie game starting with the bases clear because you used Kameron Loe in the 6th inning to keep the game tied, so be it. By that time you're free to consider using Axford if Green eventually works his way into trouble. Keep in mind I'm not blaming Green for the loss, but just pointing out the flawed logic. In happier thoughts, it's great to see Corey Hart again. Jon Luc continues to get it done, I'm excited to see him continue to develop. Provided no setbacks we'll be seeing ZG in about a week. Tony Plush will be back soon, as will Saito. Even in a tough loss, things are looking up.
