  1. For those going, what time do people plan on getting to the event? Really the only thing to get there early for would be the rummage sale stuff, but there is no mention of that in the promotional material so I don't even know if they'll be doing it as part of On Deck this year.
  2. It is nice to see the Brewers going for it this year. It is disappointing to lose Cain, but other than that you have to give quality to get quality. Provided Gomez sees most of the starts in CF and whoever plugs in at SS is an above average to good defender, these moves will help the team. We'll need everyone else to tighten up their defense a bit as well, but pitching and defense can win, as the Giants proved this past year.
  3. Well, when Roenicke pinch hits with a pitcher instead of his backup catcher in extra innings, at least statistically speaking the move won't look as awful now, lol. Other than the fact Nieves is a veteran catcher, this is a head scratcher. Keith Osik has to be available. They have to see something in Nieves that isn't obvious.
  4. I'll miss Voodoo Joe and his at bat music. He wasn't anything special, but he was the best of a mediocre crop of pinch hitting options. Plus he wore high socks and Bill Hall's old number. How can you not like a guy like that? Based on his success this year he has probably assured himself of a few more years of pinch hitting duty around the league.
  5. I definitely wish Carlos the best. I've always had a soft spot for him, even though there were times where watching him pitch was frustrating. We'll always have the time he enraged Pujols with a fist pump and grew that ridiculous moustache.
  6. I was kind of privately hoping for Valentine as well, but I'm okay with Roenicke. I was most concerned we may go the conservative, meh route with Bob Melvin. If Roenicke is as good at communicating and seeing things other people miss as Hunter et al. have said he is, then he'll be an asset to a team that needs someone like that. We've got a lot of young players still feeling their way through, so to have a manager who is observant and can pick up on subtle things, that can only be helpful. Valentine and Cora may have been more vocal, exciting managers, but I'm sure compared to Macha Roenicke will probably be fine. Instead of going for the exact opposite in personality-type like they did from Yost to Macha, I'm guessing they tried to find someone who sits the fence in that nature, and Roenicke seems to fit the bill nicely for that.
  7. Pittsburgh Pirates - No thanks. Washington Nationals - Riiiiight. Kansas City Royals - Just having to commute to/from KCI would make me not want to be traded to Kansas City. Cleveland Indians - Meh. Florida Marlins - Insert comment about humidity here.
  8. Some of those stats were really interesting, thanks for posting! It was interesting to see that Wolf led the team in quality starts, and the pitching staff had virtually equal ERA's with both Lucroy and Kottaras catching.
  9. Haudricourt is flipping his lid on twitter about Lance Allen not crediting the Journal Sentinel when reporting the news the Brewers plan to interview Bob Melvin. It's pretty funny, but also kind of sad considering it was basically common knowledge.
  10. Brooks Conrad doing his best Junior Spivey impression with three errors in one game. This one is on a much bigger stage though. Yikes. Epic meltdown this inning by the Wagner-less Braves bullpen and defense.
  11. Remember former Cub Matt Murton? He broke Ichiro record for the most hits in a single season in Japanese Professional Baseball. He didn't do it in the same number of games though, as the season is now 144 games and when Ichiro did it the season was 130 games. Also, Prince looks thrilled to be in that picture on the Brewers facebook page.
  12. Thanks for playing, Ken. Well, if nothing else he exerted his will into the very last game. Haudricourt reported Macha yanked Braun because he didn't run out a popout today. I'd prefer the Brewers refrain from going to the well of baseball manager retreads, but we'll see what happens. This should be a very interesting offseason.
  13. I finished with two straight losses, but was 14-13 overall! I'll take it.
  14. I'm having doubts about this whole walking the winning run thing. Get this done, Ax!
  15. The rain is supposed to hold off until late this evening. LOL Reyes, that was epic. It is windy outside, but not that windy.
  16. Thanks for playing, Dave. Quick hook by Macha, but a positive outing for Dave to end the year.

  18. Good game. No one to blame, Mets just gritted one off of Ax. I enjoyed my Citi Field experience.
  19. If Braun is out there, that is a run. Get a double play, Ax!
  20. Citi is nearish to an airport. I wish Ken would put in Ax and be done with the bullpen merry-go-round.
  21. Lucas Duda uses All Along The Watchtower as his batting music, I instinctively began looking for Craig Counsell, lol.
  22. It would take a shot for a ball to get to me. I am in the second deck down the left field line. I have a Brewers hat on though http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Aww, no RBI for Joe.
  23. Epic fail, George. I am at the game. Citi Field is nice. They have three screens so you can't miss anything! They also post random factoids about each player. Did you know Kottaras' only three hit game came against the Mets?
  24. I echo hawing's comments. It was nice to meet up, chat, and talk some baseball. On the field it looks as though the plan was to swing early and often at Volstad's pitches. I was somewhat impressed Macha pinch hit for Escobar with Counsell, it is too bad Kottaras couldn't come through. Despite the loss it was a good time.
