  1. There are videos on MLB.com showing Braun calling the girl with her voicemail being full. I was at the ballpark tonight, awesome atmosphere. The standing ovation Braun received before his first at bat was an amazing experience. Lots of good offensive nights across the board. The Astros played some horrendous defense, but taking advantage of those lapses is important.
  2. The thing about Gomez is with Morgan down and Kotsay and Almonte as our other alternatives, they really don't have a choice but to play Gomez right now. Kotsay would be like Edmonds on that bad Achilles in CF (and we all remember the complaints about that), and Almonte just isn't an option. An outfield of Braun, Kotsay, and Almonte would just be cringeworthy defensively. I think the thing generating most of the complaints is Gomez hitting second. If they could hide him in the bottom of the lineup and he could continue to play plus defense people wouldn't complain about him as much. That said, Kotsay and YuniB don't really make prototypical 2 hitters, either. There is the Lucroy/Kottaras argument, but then you're really looking at a 6-9 of Kotsay, YuniB, Gomez, Pitcher. Hart and Morgan will probably both be 100% at the same time. Hart will slide into the 2-hole and if Gomez is still struggling Morgan and Gomez will platoon at the bottom of the order, or Hart will hit 6 and Morgan will hit 2 on days he starts and Counsell or Hart will hit 2 on days he doesn't.
  3. Between Counsell being in left field, our scoring 9 runs, and McGehee letting a foul ball bounce 4 feet in front of him, I have the giggles. Hopefully this is just a random test of Counsell's versatility moreso than a serious injury.
  4. Hey, we finally scored more than 6 runs in a game! Hooray!
  5. LOL, Almonte. Granted, he just faced a really good pitcher righty on righty, but that was pretty comical to watch. If he weren't a right handed bat, he wouldn't be here.
  6. Hooray, sac fly! Even with failing velocity hopefully ZB can protect a two run lead. Or lets get this bad boy up to 4 and let Kintz close it out.
  7. It sounded like Bob slammed his hand down as Victorino caught that ball. He was almost done with the home run call, lol. We'll take the sac fly, though.
  8. Kintzler in, Narveson heading out to the bullpen just in case. Looks like TripleR is going to hold Braddock back in case of a lead.
  9. Wil Nieves hitting for Stetter. Going with the righty vs. lefty matchup I guess. Stetter could have done that.
  10. Considering the state of the bullpen, Hawkins' return will likely be a welcome sight. Provided he's truly healthy and ready to go, of course.
  11. Phillies handed Axford that inning. Boy oh boy was he overthrowing. I was about to say if it gets to Howard I'd rather see Braddock and his inexplicable drop in velocity than an overthrowing Axford.
  12. I'm not sure if Ax is overthrowing, or if his control is just that bad tonight, but oy.
  13. Poor defensive decision, Ryan. Axford's location is pretty poor today. Phillies gave away one out, maybe we can get two and to extras?
  14. But Kotsay came to Milwaukee to win a World Series instead of hanging them up ... at least according to ESPN. http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o254/gjenkins05/wall.gif
  15. It was a very poor throw by Betancourt on a routine ground ball that should be an out 99% of the time. He threw the ball three feet wide of first base. Fielder has saved Betancourt a few times already this year, and half the reason he didn't make the play is because he was trying to stay on the bag. When the throw is three feet off the bag, there isn't a whole lot you can do. Even had Fielder come off to catch it, Werth likely is still safe. In regards to the play at the plate, Werth beats even a perfect throw to the plate, he got a great jump.
  16. Do the Nationals have a left handed pitcher warming? Otherwise, no reason for Almonte there.
  17. There is still a very large zero in the hit column for the visiting team. Why not erase that, gentlemen?
  18. If Correia and Marcum keep pitching how they are, this game may be over by 8pm, lol.
  19. Is it just me, or is George Kottaras basically Gabe Gross reincarnated as a catcher? Left hander with a typically low batting average, patient hitter willing to take a walk, some power potential.
  20. I don't mind the three catchers for a week or two. It allows them to play it safe with Lucroy and build him up, with the added benefit of being able to pinch hit with Kottaras on days Lucroy starts and Lucroy on days Nieves starts. Once Hart is back Lucroy should be in tip top shape and Nieves (hopefully) can be DFA.
