  1. I have been one of the backers of Bush as a serviceable pitcher over the years so I am disappointed a bit not because Bush is anything special, but because Macha retains his job.
  2. It is unfortunate thing that happens in America far too much. However, muggings seem to happen in Milwaukee more. We were mugged near UWM 10 years ago and our platonic girlfriends after that about a year later. My friend owns the old Velvet Room and had to deal with a murder recently at a decent establishment. Not a good thing. I got the hell out of there after graduation. Glad I did. I moved to a better place in a bigger city that has plenty of problems too but not of the incidence of MTown in the right neighborhoods. Glad I left. Take some shots if you want but it is just my opinion. Just don't blame Yo on this one...not his fault.
  3. Well, if that's the case, then my apologies. No offense taken here. I just think we tend to overreact to some of these kids that are overachievers. I mean no disrespect but for these kids you have to reflect 2-3 years later to see the "true" results of deal. And, yes, I was right on this one but have been wrong before many times. (I demanded Corey Hart be let go for a bag of balls earlier this season.)
  4. Why? Wasn't Linebrink a Type A? I know we blew the picks but not a bad deal. Linebrink also had a decent season with Sox the next year. I just don't understand why people are still bitter about this for a LOOGY and two overrated soft tossers. I am on the Kenny Williams line of thought. Keep your blue chip prospects but sell high on overperforming middling guys to make you better when you are in the race. Most prospects are "suspects" after all. For every Sandberg for DeJesus, there are 10 Bones for Sheff deals.
  5. This is an old favorite. Melvin not as big of an idiot as everyone thought at the time on this deal (except me.) I can still remember the uproar...
  6. No, not all of them but most of them dead on before most were willing to admit. Check my history. These are ones I have been most vocal about. 1. I was biggest Hall hater of them all from Day 1. Too many holes in swing and crap-ass attitude. The pink bat garbage everyone got sappy on made me reach for another pink beverage-Pepto. 2. JJ- Wanted to trade high on him because he was playing above his means. Minor league numbers showed he was a fluke in waiting. 3. Rickie- People wanted his head forever and I saw the offensive skill he always had. Injuries would be his cryptonite until this year. Hustles EVERY play and is most focused player on this team. Is still subpar defensively, but has worked to drastically improve. 4. Braun- Purchased authentic jersey in spring training 2007 knowing he was real deal two months before he saw MLB pitch. (I did the same thing with Weeks. Pricey investments.) 5. Turnbow- Didn't buy into him ever. Realized that unless he could consistently throw offspeed for strikes that his straight as a string fastball would catch up with him. Brewers fans just loved his hair. 6. Wolf-Said we would soon seriously regret signing. I have made a couple bad calls too. 1. I loved Suppan signing at the time but quickly realized in his 2nd year that his favorite plate to serve was meatballs. 2. Hart- I totally discounted him and would have traded him for bag of balls this offseason. However, he has stepped up big time this year. I still would trade him ASAP because he has huge holes in swing too. Get some value Doug. Don't know how much history you can look up...but it is all documented.
  7. I have begged Rickie to be resigned for a long time. Of course the organization blows it and misses out on our future #4 hitter. It makes me sick. Now if we don't trade Hart for value in next 4 days...we will seriously regret it. Figures...
  8. Bill Hall needed to go. I don't care if he hits .400 next year. He not only was a bad baseball player, but also a questionable character.
  9. Agreed, Stevo. Weeks is improving still and is a prime example of a late bloomer. He can bat 3rd-4th-5th in the future and be a good run producer. He has been miscast in the leadoff role long enough already.
  10. Ah, so that's how I got the idea in my head that the Jerry Garcia commercials were done at Bill's house. To be fair, I'd probably swear at Chef Jerry Garcia too, if I ever saw him. Jerry just got canned from Hotel Metro too. Kinda ironic. Maybe Bill will follow suit. One could hope.
  11. Brian will not be here long. Is going to do bigger things and he makes Bill more tolerable. How bout Bill and D Sutton? It was painful. If Brian leaves and we have to deal with Coshun, you will again see how bad Bill is.
  12. It is an opinion of mine that he is one that is very lazy and does not do much homework to get any better. If you are satisfied with mediocrity...you should enjoy Bill. He brings nothing substantial to the broadcasts and nothing fresh. He does not want to do any better and is happy with status quo. In my business, we have many people like that. And although they may be great people, they are the most expendable when cuts are necessary because they are nothing more than adequate and show no initiative. Maybe I am overreacting, but it really irks me.
  13. Schroeder is not the most pleasurable person off air either unless he is running his fantasy camp. Do you remember the Promo "Bill's Grill?" He lost that Piggly Wiggly spot to Jerry Garcia and was not happy about it. He then proceeded to curse Jerry out the next time he saw him. IMO, Schroeder needs to go.
  14. The Brewers TV needs a breath of fresh air. Schroeder's phrases are well past tired. Jenkins sounded great tonight and would add a "fresh" perspective. I am sick of Schroeder's Juan Nieves and Bert Blyleven stories. What do you think?
  15. I still don't like him. Please trade him! Anyone who takes game for granted for a season and slacks off is not a player I want long term. I think many on here remember Bill Hall. This is a prime case of that.
  16. I like that you brought up the point about his platoon. It definitely has helped the numbers a bit. I think Corey is a player that when the pressure is on, he crumbles. However, when he is patient and relaxed he seems to be fine. He is you prototypical average #7 hitter who is nothing special but probably will last in this league about 12 years because he does enough things good enough.
  17. HOw bout Hart Cadillacking a single into a double early and then bobbling a ball in the corner and then missing cutoff man. Solid.
  18. Who on earth has said otherwise the last year or so? Rluz disagrees. Manny Parra, Corey Hart, and Jessica Simpson would be quite the Jeopardy match up.
  19. Like I have told you guys...Parra is a mental midget. Harsh, but so true.
  20. I know we all feel warm and fuzzy about winning 5 of 6 but I just can't understand a situation is today's game. Greg Zaun is up 3-0 in the count and decides to swing. Did anyone tell him the bases were loaded with one out and Kennedy was having control problems? It made no sense because Zaun is also a prime candidate to hit into a DP. It is not like Kennedy had amazing stuff that Zaun would not get same pitch at 3-1. Macha is only one that gives green light here. Very poor decision that could have cost Brewers the game.
  21. Rickie. Rickie slumps, team slumps. Rickie hits, team hits. Braun with 0 RBIs since Rickie slump.
  22. I think I was just trying to say that I just don't like these managers. Why are they so unlikeable? How can I still like and back Rich Rodriguez after the worst two season run in Michigan football history and absolutely cringe when I see Macha manage. I am by no means a "meathead" and I don't need to see a ton of fire out of a manager but I would like to see the guy care once in awhile for god's sake. Like I said, I have no idea what happens behind closed doors, but as a player I really couldn't respect what I see based on a "eye test." It makes you wonder why he was unemployed for a few years after he got canned in Oakland. I think Doug missed on this one. I do believe teams can change based on a managerial move like in 1982 with us and with the Rockies last year for example.
  23. Can you help me answer this question? Why can't I seem to like very many Brewer managers? I really can't stand Macha with his clueless expressions in the dugout and his questionable decision-making. I couldn't stand Yost, Royster, and Lopes, etc. I did like Garner though. I am an open-minded guy unless I see something very bad. I don't know what happens in the clubhouse at all on a daily basis so obviously I am missing a good amount of what is fact and what is fiction with Ken Macha. I don't need a rah-rah coach, but I don't need a guy who looks like Bernie (Weekend at Bernie's.) I really would like to see them give Randolph a chance if this season goes south. I really like McCarthy for the Pack and Skiles for the Bucks. I even like Rich Rod and Johnny Beilein for UM and they have been pretty bad. I just can't seem to wrap my arms around these Brewer managers. Why?
  24. I have liked Trevor Hoffman and it was a great acquisition last year and I believe he deserved another one year deal for maybe a million more. However, Brewers far overpaid and now we are left to pay the price. I really don't think he can recover from this. I know Macha will keep trotting him out there. I am willing to give him one more chance. If he blows any of the next 4 opps he gets or massively struggles, he needs to be replaced.
  25. God, I love this post. 3 years ago people wanted to run Rick out of town. Now he is becoming a cult hero. Good to see people now on the Rick bandwagon. I need to dig up some old posts on some of the regulars on here. Where is billhallfan these days? Definitely extend Rickie. 4 yrs/30 million. Goes up every week so Brewers need to get it done sooner than later.
