  1. Luke...it is a tough site. If you are right on this, you will get full credibility. If not, you will be dismissed as Bill Hall was today. I still don't think Brian the Commish has recovered yet because I hardly see him on this site anymore after his prediction in June. I sometimes know some things too but they have not always been dead right either. I hope for your sake and for the Brewers sake that we made a nice trade.
  2. Hall is gone. It is a great day for me not too see that guy in a Brewer uniform. He was a stubborn, undisiplined, underperforming crybaby who should have been gone awhile ago. I never liked the guy even when he had his big season. I have been the biggest Hall basher on this site for a reason. God, my dream is the Cubs pick him up now. That would be great since we picked up their Bill hall in Corey Patterson. I feel I should go listen to "Celebrate" by Kool in the Gang or the White Sox song...nah nah nah nah nah nah hey hey hey goodbye!
  3. God, Is Heether the next Vinny Rottino on here now? Give bourgeois a shot and if he stinks...then Heether can have his chance. I'm sure he will be called up Sept. 1st anyway. It is no big deal.
  4. Witrado probably makes peanuts~35k or so. Our other buddy (TH) with seniority probably only doubles that. This is not facts, but a hypothesis from people I know who do that. Glad I picked BA in Communications (Marketing-Minor) instead of Journalism even though my parents thought I was nuts back in 92. Journalism has negative growth-not good.
  5. It is really funny that this came out tonight after an awful game by kendall. I didn't want to pile on, but I can't resist. Having Kendall out there right now is totally counterproductive. It does not matter how he "calls" a game at this point now. Time to look to the future and I believe Kendall officially is done in Milwaukee after this year. I can guarentee in September that he will not start more than ten games if that. Until then, he will still be put out there to suck 5 games a week.
  6. Why would anyone bother? ERA+ is already ballpark adjusted, so I don't really get what you're driving at here. Granted, he's managed to post solid ERAs the bulk of his career, and the last few years as well, but always as a consequence of a fair amount of BABIP luck or LOB% luck. Maybe I'm being SABR dogmatic here, but w/o decent K/9 or BB/9 rates, count me as a sceptic on the question of whether Weathers is still a decent pitcher. You know I am not a old school cromudgon or anything, but when is looking at SABR info too much. The old eye test should still mean something. Weathers throws junk and can be rocked on any given night to really blow his stats up, but i think you can count on him 4 out of every 5 appearances. I'll take that over what we have been getting.
  7. Thanks SoCal and Rev. I am a first timer to Dodger Stadium. I never could line up a trip there while on business so I decided to see my favorite team and to take two days off. Heard weather forecast is perfect in both SD and LA. Can't wait.
  8. What are you talking about? Hall hasn't even been mentioned in any serious rumors or any rumors for that matter. The Brewers were in on Peavy but were out when he got injured. Trading for an injured player is not a smart idea.Ok, let's get this straight. That was a rumor (Hall) my source told me. Like I said...agents don't know who their player is being traded for all the time. I heard a few different combinations, but all of them had Parra in them. I really doubt they could have dumped Hall myself, but the Brewers might have had that as a prerequisite. Who knows? That is just what I was told. I was also told Hall, Parra, Escobar, and Gamel. I knew that was garbage (I hoped) so I didn't even mention it. That would have definitely raised everyone's ire.
  9. My buddy has the tickets so all I know is that we are 100 Level. Petco should be fun. I also can't wait for the Chavez Ravine traffic. I am going with a cab there (from Hollywood). Is this wise? My concierge said cab was the way to go. Said it was about $40 each way.
  10. Will they allow a Michigan Grad to join in for a drink? I'm staying at the Renaissance Hollywood. I think that is relatively close to me. Oh, shoot. I'm only there on Monday. Oops.
  11. My info is a little scattered in terms of players involved. I did not hear a thing this time around because personally I didn't want to bother this guy because the Brewers and Peavy had been the only things we ever talked about in June. He probably was getting annoyed so I pulled back figuring Peavy would not be dealt although I touched base with him about two or three weeks ago and he said things were slow. I need to buy him some beers here in Chicago to make up for my badgering. Anyway, to make a long story short, I heard about Parra the first time around as well as the usual different combination of prospects. I heard Parra and Bill Hall (to offset money) were in possible deal, but I have no confirmation of this because he really had no idea. Again, agents are not always in the know about this stuff. (And, no, I do not talk to Barry Axelrod, only David-haha) The reason we know the Brewers were involved was that Peavy had to be contacted and Brewers didn't want to be embarrassed like the White Sox and went for his approval in advance of potential trade. He approved it and was to be traded to if they could agree to deal. His ankle injury made the deal moot. Hope this makes sense.
  12. Just confirmed with source that this was "big" deal Doug was talking about. The Brewers were in this thing twice. He prob would have been a Brewer if not for the ankle injury. The White Sox package was pitching heavy and was more attractive than what the Brewers offered. Bidding went down to last second. I do not know what Brewers offered. I'm upset about this now but two years down the line this is probably a good thing.
  13. Yep, was on the phone for 45 seconds with my acquaintance. This was a last second deal for sure. Wasn't even talked about again till late last night. Very discouraging for our team though. I would have liked to us choose one or the other-seller or buyer.
  14. I'll be at the game in San Diego tomorrow night and then at the Dodger game on Monday. Anyone else going to be around?
  15. I really don't get much info from the Brewers at all. It is more from the agent side. Even agents sometimes don't know who their client is being traded for. Ask Brian who we were about to acquire.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  16. Honestly, that would be news to me. However, I know Hardy will probably not be a Brewer in 2010. Hardly a reach because everyone knows that. The problem is now is that you may sell Hardy a bit low. If Hardy goes on one of his two month streaks, he will be far more attractive in off-season even though he has only one year left. Think small time stop gap for tonight or tomorrow.
  17. Guys, Hall took the deal to go to AAA for a couple reasons. He obviously is doing nothing here and will not get a chance due to the fact that he has gotten a ton of chances throughout the year. He has zero trade value so Brewers can't trade him obviously. If he gets DFA'd, nobody wants to give him a MLB deal. They may just reassign him to AAA as well. So after his agent scoured teams to see if they wanted him and nobody did, he reluctantly took this assignment. If he shows something in AAA, either the Brewers call him up or he leaves to another MLB situation. The guy is not a MLB player now so it is worth the risk for him and his agent. By not playing here at all, that hurts his value a ton more than it helps. A simple reason why he is doing this. To reaffirm that I know what I'm talking about, check the Bill Hall adjustments link where I say they would wait till the trade deadline to make this decision...fyi.
  18. A deal is on the horizon, but you guys probably will be underwhelmed. Trust me, Mr. Melvin has worked harder at this trade deadline than he EVER has before. Sellers are in the drivers seat and he has held back for all the right reasons. The Brewers want to win now, but sellers are being ridiculous for the most part. Brian was right, the Brewers had a deal in early June, but injury held it back. He (Melvin) knew this staff needed help before they totally blew up. He was not naive. (And yes, he could have done something in offseason, but what?) That is why I cannot believe many on here are asking for Mr. Melvin's head. The only thing I can remember that would have changed was last year at the break he had an opportunity to sell high with Corey Hart to add a Greinke or Cain. He didn't do it because he already made a great move with Sabathia and he was too "loyal" to Hart. However, the Phils did a hell of a job getting Lee, imo. If the Crew had any semblance of advanced young pitching talent, Lee would have been ours. I know Jack Z is worshiped on here (so was Billy Hall and Ben Grieve), but he really did a bad job with judging pitching talent. Gallardo and...umm. Rumor has it anyway that the cross checker (begged) convinced Jack to pick Gallardo and he was not even a "Jack" guy. Sorry about the soapbox talk. It may (not) be Correia, btw, and I did not want to start new thread. Seemed senseless.
  19. I love your avatar. Just substitute Yo for JJ and then you have it perfect.
  20. Those "bandwagon" fans and ticket increases are necessary to pay players and expand payroll. If you want to have cheaper prices and less bandwagon fans, catch a game in Appleton and watch the Timber Rattlers with Peralta and Lawrie. I really disagree with this because I want the best team on the field and it is more likely to happen with increased payroll. I'm trying to be as nice as possible as I bite through my lip with your comment ClubLevel.
  21. Exactly. You don't trade your future shortstop for two months of Washburn and an erratic reliever with arm problems. But yes for a guy like Halladay. Ugh, I'm starting to have flashbacks of the Inman for Linebrink fiasco. Is this the same Inman who can't crack into the mighty San Diego rotation and got demoted to AA earlier this year? Still young...I know. He is a #4 type guy at best in the future.
  22. This is why he might be able to be gotten on the cheap. At the same time, the Padres just might want him to come out and shine the last month of the year to drive up his value in off-season. I don't expect anything myself...but I wouldn't count it out. My guy tells me that he has heard nothing about trades really since injury. It might ramp up now because of "clean bill of health." He told me Jake "may" be ready in 3-4 weeks. So really nothing we didn't already know.
  23. I think this is a great option to think about. It could feasibly happen because I believe it almost happened already. I think the Padres would have to drop their demands a bit and that is the rub. Are the Padres that desperate? They just might be. I have not heard any rumblings at all about this and this is my best contact by far. I'll check into this and see what the real possibilities are. I would "guess" that Peavy's earliest return date would be about August 20th. I'll ck on that too.
  24. From what's been said about him, it sounds like Halladay is a pretty stand up guy. I doubt he would approve a trade to Milwaukee, only to turn around and demand a trade only three or four months later. Of course, you never know for sure I guess. Lets say the Brewers picked him up and then they imploded the rest of the season. Maybe he would dislike Macha, maybe he would think Castro is clueless,or maybe he doesn't like Milwaukee. U never really know...
