  1. I hear that Philly would be his top choice though. He wants to be on not only a playoff contender, but a World Series contender for the next two years. I'm not sure he sees the Brewers as one. I think he would be 50/50 on Milwaukee. It would be a tough sell and the Brewers would have to have it written that he would not lobby for a trade in the off season as well. That may make it even tougher.
  2. People keep neglecting this.
  3. I see noone is attacking Hall for being the worst Brewer maybe ever. Another anemic at bat. I guess nobody is watching.
  4. I still think the Brewers will score 7 runs. However, I also think they will allow 11.
  5. These balls aren't seeing eye dogs. They are rockets. Burns is throwing meatballs like I have not seen in a long time.
  6. Hopefully the Halladay era will be starting soon enough in Milwaukee. Hey, I can hope, right? I'll take the Scott Karl era before the Mike Burns era again.
  7. First of all...this game is far from over. Second, I gotta feeling the Mike Burns era is over after tonight.
  8. Agreed. AVG and RBI are old school. I think they are still pertinent stats too albeit I like OPS the most. wOBA is interesting stat that is fun but by no means is it a specific reason to hate on a player. I'm sure Doug analyzed wOBA with a fine tooth comb though, Invader. All jokes aside, I think this is a solid move. You get a leadoff guy that is pretty darn solid that bats from each side of the plate pretty equally. It also gets Mat sent down, which I believe is the right call. Hall will get his DFA soon enough. But I am thinking he may survive this season as every day passes.
  9. Why do you say that? There aren't other minor league options? Or a trade or free agent signing wouldn't be possible to fill either 3B or SS? I am not crazy about trading either one, but if you can trade one (not both) and get back a pitcher like Roy Halladay that you can make a run with this season and next, I think you have to do it. I agree with you Invader. One would definitely be a part of the deal and I believe Lawrie would be as well. The only way the Brewers may get out of giving up two of the three prospects is if they add a big salary (Rolen, Rios) and work that out. A little birdie has confirmed to me that the Brewers are legit in this deal. However, as KR mentioned, Halladay may not want to be Brewer. If he dropped his no-trade clause and became a Brewer, it would be right at the deadline because Halladay wants to see all his options out there. I believe the Brewers would fall behind the Phillies, Dodgers, etc in Halladay's mind and he wouldn't want to commit too early.
  10. This is the big leagues though. You have to perform or pay the price if you are a fringe player. I can't remember Gerut ever hitting a ball hard. Lots of early swings and weakly hit grounders.
  11. Was this supposed to be in blue? David Bell?
  12. I know 5th outfielders generally are not key factors with most teams, but I cannot believe how horrendous ours have been. Brad Nelson- 0 for 21 Jody Gerut- 4 for 40 with zero extra base hits. 4 for 61. Didn't Looper get 3 hits last night? Does anyone have any solutions to this? Edit: that's not how we spell "woes" 'round here - MSC.
  13. I'll get ripped for this, but I don't feel the magic this year. I think if we had made a move a month ago when it was rumored things may have been a lot different if we picked up Lopez and a starter like Peavey or Bedard before they got hurt.. Too little too late now. Can trade Hoffman, Cameron, Hardy, or Hart. Remember that it is a sellers market. I won't be mad. At least you add a player or two that will help and you don't give away anyone that hurts your future. All hands on deck next year though. 2010 and 2011 is our window.
  14. Rickie's wrist injuries are scary, but I saw a different player this year both offensively and defensively. Hopefully he makes a full recovery and stay away from these pesky injuries before he becomes the next Eric Davis.
  15. I respect your opinion. However, I disagree. When he falls below .900 OPS and under .300 w/RISP then we can talk.
  16. Am I overreacting? Villy has over a 6 ERA. Hall bats under .200 with a .250 OBP and has been horrendous for two years. Gerut is 4 for 38 with 4 singles in his role since he arrived.
  17. Let's not put stats out but just say what we see with our eyes. Bill Hall Carlos Villanueva Jody Gerut Do I really need to say anything?
  18. I'm kinda sick right now. The season is on a dangerous ledge here.
  19. I know this but one could hope. He is simply not a major leaguer anymore.
  20. Parra coming back up. Heether or J B added to 40 man and brought up. Gamel down. Hall DFA'd. No sources...just hypothesis.
  21. Only one game of Cub Series IGT goes longer than this stupid stuff. Now I know why reality TV is such a big hit. You are feeding Tom Haudricourt far too many smiles.
  22. Haudricourt is probably in his glory for getting this going too. This is his dream. He probably thinks he will win a Pulitzer.
