  1. What do we think of this? Parra has been lights out in the bullpen, but I've always wanted to give Narveson a shot.
  2. Narveson to start for Suppan, who is now in the bullpen, per CBS Sportsline
  3. The iphone app is great, but only works on the iphone. Mlb.tv is separate, but if you get it, then you can also watch games on your iphone. The problem is, if you're in the milwaukee area, there's no way to watch the games on TV except via your tv.
  4. Thanks for the discussion guys, glad to see i'm not the only one here. I am all about using who's effective, and Suppan has been anything but. Davis I'm willing to wait and see on, but let's get Narveson in there!
  5. Why can't we try this? He's been pretty great all spring and in a small sample size during the regular season too. He's gotta be better than Suppan, and (gasp), Davis if he continues like this.
  6. this could be a great fan thing. A bunch of "Dude" signs. I can't wait!
  7. or would "crazy heart" be more appropriate given the oscar win?
  8. Milton Bradley is still better than Corey hart.
  9. Why does everyone hate Milton Bradley? He had a bad year with the Cubs last year, but those "fans" never gave him a chance. The only people I don't want on the Brewers again are Bill Hall and Geoff Jenkins, cuz they both suck.
  10. yeah, i didn't hear anything either. you'd think they'd at least give you a "sorry, you didn't win" email or something.
  11. I loved the deals. I took my whole office to a game and we all had a blast. Please, please give us this deal again, Brewers! And more Friday games, please!
  12. I think you all are underestimating the effect of SBs on offense. First, you need to have a very high success rate to make it worthwhile. I get that. However, it's difficult to measure the mental toll on a pitcher to fear the runners on the basepaths, versus the confidence and concentration that a pitcher can develop if he doesn't have to worry about steals at all. Just look at how freaked-out our pitchers seemed last year with base stealers on.
  13. I dunno, did any of you see pedro in the WBC? He certainly didn't look washed-up.
  14. I say nay. It's too one-sided, it just seems arbitrary, and the players who benefit from the rule almost never have anything to do with the outcome. The All-Star game is supposed to be a show. It should be 12-10, not 4-3. And nobody should have home field because of it.
  15. This is interesting, but without more teams being able to use it, I don't think we'll get its true impact any time soon.
  16. I'm definitely excited to try this out on my phone. It is too bad about brewers' games though. How sweet would it be to be out at the lake watching the last few innings of the game? Oh well.
  17. You know, Jim Powell was always an unassuming radio personality, and when i was younger i thought he was Bob Uecker at times, but after listening to the Braves game for a bit on the MLB atBat app on my iphone today, I really miss him. Provus is good, but Powell is damn near special. he only seems average when compared with Uecker the magnificent.
  18. is it just me or does this new serial killer story remind you of the last season of The Wire, when there were budget constraints so McNulty framed homeless murders?
  19. I was running this evening, and stopped by the stadium to check out the splash zone. (all panels were open). It looked alright sitting there next to the slide. It's like the opposite of going over Niagara falls in a barrel. I can live with it. but that C-it-Go home run pump, that has to go!
  20. I like your reasoning here. Although, I think pitchers don't pitch far enough into games anymore, so I don't mind the six inning thing. But you're right, 4 runs in nine innings is better than 3 in 6. I guess you just can't take shortcuts when statistically evaluating pitchers. You have to analyze everything as a whole.

  23. Why all the hate for the "Quality Starts" stat? I mean, six innings and three runs is going to keep you in a ballgame. What other metric should we use to judge this? Is it because it doesn't take into account the defense behind him or the number of walks issued?
