  1. I think we've got our DH for interleague games this summer.
  2. Interesting, Gross has 3 career plate appearances against Weathers and they're all walks.
  3. Man, Ueker's depressed "A ball hit to left" and the Cinnci fans going nuts just gave me a heart attack. Another nice inning by Mota. Hope about another extra inning HR for Fielder?
  4. I wouldnt' go so far as to say it was the right move, but I don't think it was a bad move. It is a judgement call situation and I liked the move because it was so slow with the hook a lot of times last year. Now if he had brought in say Mota that is just a bad move. Good point. I would still say he didn't make a bad move.
  5. That is how Yost managed last year though and everyone exploded at him over it. Pitcher would be cruising, give up a couple bloop hits and one hard hit ball, Yost goes to bullpen which lets in runs and everyone says he is an idiot. There is a huge difference between between "giving up a couple of bloop hits and one hard hit ball" and having two outs with no one on and giving up a week grounder that JJ probably should have at least stopped. I'm not saying that I entirely disagree with the reasoning given the situation, but I think a good manager has a real feel for the game and would be able to tell that Soup was cruisng. Has still strong and had his command. And Ned has never had a feel for the game. The problem is your assuming Suppan gets out of it. There was no guarentee of that. Yost brought in the guy that 99 percent of the time doesn't give up a HR in that situation (or at least shouldn't). He made the right move there. He put his team in the position to win the game! Shouse failed. Period.
  6. I think there is a group of fans who are willing to crucify Ned no matter what he does.. now I know there were people that were against the move when it happened but either way if Votto hits a HR vs. Shouse or Suppan, there will be 3 - 4 pages talking about what a dumb decision. Exactly. So what if you don't have Shouse for the ninth against Griffey and Dunn in the ninth. If Shouse does the job, they're Gange's to face.
  7. As Jim pointed out, you've got a lefty killer in the pen and Suppan is prone to giving up HR, one swing could tie it. If Shouse does the job here. Brewers just have one more inning to get though to get it to you closer. I wish Suppan could have gotten that last out, but smart move. Uhg, nevermind.

  9. Oh my god. I always thought Cecil was a bowling ball. Jesus, he looks skinny in that first card.
  10. I don't think so. Gross' career numbers against Arroyo are really good. I say he gets this game to stink it up one more time, and if he does, we get Kapler tomorrow.
  11. Just heard it on 540. Drew Olson said it's probably because of the Reds lefty dominated offense.
  12. Awesome! Let's build on this one fellas!
  13. Not everybody is down on Bill Hall: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?columnist=stark_jayson&page=rumblings From Jayson Stark's Rumblings and Grumblings about players starts that are for real those that are not. He starts with saying Kapler and Kendall will be coming back to earth soon, but adds: See, we told you this wasn't Pick on the Brewers Week. Hall might not be hitting much for average or taking a whole lot of pitches. But everybody who weighed in on him thinks he'll have a good year. One scout even perused our list of potential bounce-back candidates and awarded Hall the honor of "best bet on this list." "I'm big on Bill Hall," said another scout. "He's such a good athlete. And he's learning what he can and can't do. His plate coverage and pitch recognition are getting better all the time. And he's playing surprisingly well at third base." I hope the scout is right. It would be great to see Braun, Fielder and Hall all get it going at the same time.
  14. Oh man, what a difference an hour makes.
  15. Yes, Duncan says "I'm the lefty Bill Hall."
  16. Two outs. Shouse coming on to face the lefty Duncan.
  17. He won't it will be Mota for at least one more inning.
  18. Isn't this better than only criticizing the move if the outcome doesn't work out? If Hardy popped up the bunt, a lot more people probably would have complained. I criticized it because I think it's the wrong move always, not because of the outcome either way. Yeah, but the problem there is that it's Hardy that messes up not Yost. It's not like he had a terrible bunter laying down the sacrifice there. He was putting his guys in the right situation there.
  19. What it did was put the tieing runs in scoring position for your two best hitters. Smart move, that turned out to be the right move. who is to say JJ doesn't get a hit. It was a stupid move. Down 2 to give up an out. The way he's been hitting, who says he doesn't ground into a double play and completely kill the rally. Which was way more likely. Smart move.
  20. Or Hernan stays in and plays CF? He's been playing that in the minors right, or am I way off here?

  22. Come on prince. This is it. This is your time.
  23. Nice! So is Hurrican's long-term future as a 4th or 5th outfielder or is there more of a ceiling there?
