  1. Welcome back, June Brewers. Ugh. Please get out of this inning with the lead.
  2. The Mets basically threw their entire bullpen in last night's marathon game -- this is basically Johan's game to lose. He'll pitch at least 7 innings if they're trailing, and he might just finish the game if they're winning.
  3. I never understood trying to steal third with two outs, either...you're running on contact either way, so you should be able to score from second unless you're Johnny Estrada.
  4. How many Houston fans want to chokeslam Ed Wade right now like Shawn Chacon did? The best part is going to be when Wade gives Randy Wolf a 3-year extension after this season. Corey got lucky after he overran second there...good thing Houston somehow ends up with 4 fielders on the left side of the infield.
  5. Ryan Braun is all that is man. Wow.
  6. HOLY CRAP THAT WAS LUCKY. 5-3 double play after he bobbled the ball, barely beat the runner to third, and threw to first while falling into foul territory. Luckily Tejada doesn't really run out grounders.
  7. Nice gapper, but what the heck was Rivera thinking going to third??
  8. Hey, remember when Lee was with the Brewers and guys like Daron Sutton were impressed with the fact that Carlos Lee never made any errors and assumed he was a good left fielder because of that? Yeah, that was awesome. It's a lot more fun watching Lee loaf around out there and never take any chances to hurt his fielding percentage when he's on the other team.
  9. 1st Inning Miller Park Lance Berkman Great scouting report on Suppan, guys!
  10. I think a little confidence goes a long way -- Gagne's confidence was pretty much shot from Opening Day when he gave up the game-tying HR to Fukudome, and it was downhill from there until he landed on the DL and got to clear his head. He's been hitting his spots since he's gotten back and he's not afraid to throw his curveball. I thought his biggest test would be seeing how he responded after the first rough outing off the DL, and it looks like he hasn't been scared away from doing what makes him successful. A healthy Gagne with his head screwed on right might be just as good as trading for another reliever.
  11. Weeks and Hardy get pulled, but Hall stays in against the righty? Huh?
  12. Thanks to the Marlins, the Brewers have another chance tonight. I really hope the stupid pitcher platoon hasn't screwed with Dave's mojo. He hasn't pitched in about 15 days.
  13. While they were playing a bit over their heads earlier this year, I don't think they're this bad, either. They're in a serious offensive funk. Cubs lose back-to-back home games for the first time since the first two games of the season. I wonder who did that...? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  14. CANTU! Double down the line lets Hermida score easily. Hopefully Kevin Gregg can hold this lead now.
  15. Andino would've scored on that Hermida double...ugh. This Marlins team is a lot like the Brewers -- tons of young sluggers, tons of K's, crappy baserunning, etc.
  16. Marlins get out of it...I was terrified of Eckstein 2.0 punching one down the line to win it. Luckily Hermida was able to track it well and came up with it. I doubt Lou will get suspended, even if he did end up bumping the ump. Baseball doesn't need Cubs fans complaining about Piniella coming up with a suspension just before the series against "Bud's Brewers" starts. Edit: Brenley's bit of widsom: "Do what you have to do to win today and worry about tomorrow tomorrow." I love that line of thinking with the Brewers series coming up. I have no problem with this game going 15+ innings.
  17. Jeremy Hermida hits his second HR of the game (and third in his past 4 AB's) to tie the game at 2 in the 8th. Harden gets another no decision.
  18. Harden struck out 10 through 5 innings again today, but Volstad's pitching very well for the Marlins. I can't say I'm excited to see Harden go nuts against the Brewers to close out the series next week -- how many combined K's between Weeks, Braun, Fielder, Hart, Branyan, and Cameron? 10? 12?
  19. Cubs/Marlins is currently on WGN for those interested. It's Rich Harden throwing against Marlins rookie Chris Volstad, who's been great in his first few Major League starts -- looks like the Fish have another nice young pitcher. Harden walked the leadoff man to start the game, then struck out the side. The Marlins are one of the NL leaders in strikeouts, if I remember correctly. Other meaningful games: Atlanta (Hampton) @ Philly (Hamels) - 2:55 St. Louis (Piniero) @ New York (Knight) - 6:10 Looks like most of us are stuck with the Red Sox/Yankees game on FOX this afternoon...ugh.
  20. Backe gives up a ton of home runs...hopefully that means some offensive fireworks tonight.
  21. Nady absolutely kills Ben Sheets...it'll be good to get him out of the division.
  22. I imagine he knows a little, since most players seem to at least pick up a few bits here and there while playing with Latin players. Gathering what we found out about Johnny last year from teammates, though, he doesn't know enough to carry on a conversation.
  23. I don't know, I'm kind of hoping the Mets start to pull away in the East so there's one less team to worry about in the wildcard hunt. If the Cards get swept in New York, too, their season is pretty much cooked.
  24. Looked like Weeks didn't tag Tejada on that play, but Kendall's throw beat him by a mile -- there's no chance Tejada gets called safe.
  25. I believe the ball was already on it's ricochet back into the field when I took the screen capture. Like I said, it's by no means perfect, but at least we can see the ball with a freeze-frame.
