  1. Cards leave another guy on third...Pujols lines out to second after Ryan steals second and advances to third on Kendall's bad throw. The Cards really stink with RISP tonight. Ludwick and Molina have each left 3 on, while Ryan and Pujols have left 2 on.
  2. Please don't suck tonight, Turnbow. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  3. Well at least Jenkins waited until the 8th pitch to strike out there.
  4. BURGER KING! Now for the sake of my sanity, please score some more runs in the bottom half, guys.
  5. My feelings towards Linebrink right now could be summed up with a quote from Ocean's Eleven... "You had ONE bloody job to do!" Get Dunn here, Burger King.
  6. Jeez...10 pitches..that was the at-bat that wouldn't end. Phillips is still scary, though. At least there's 2 outs so there's no chance of a sac fly. Edit: Hey, the Cards offense is alive after all. How nice of them to show up.
  7. Just so we clear things up early, if Shouse lets this run in, who should have Ned put in instead?
  8. Joel Piniero is scaring the crap out of me tonight...he's lucky it isn't like 6-0 right now. Nice job getting out of that inning, though, stranding Lee on 3rd. Edit: Being a veteran team doesn't mean much when your veterans stink. Relying on the likes of So Taguchi, Scott Spiezio, Miguel Cairo, Joel Piniero, etc. is worse than relying on a bunch of 23 year old kids to not fade down the stretch.
  9. Suppan has been very solid lately. Very nice to see.
  10. Why do the Cardinals start Miguel Cairo? They couldn't find anyone better?
  11. I do. I hope there's a 3 way in division trade that gives the Cubs Coffey, the Reds Stetter and the Brewers Marmol.http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/happy.gif I'd give the Reds Aquino. He'd be fun to watch in the Great American Bandbox.
  12. Todd Coffey is my favorite opposing reliever. I hope the Reds never get rid of him.
  13. Who replaced Makanin with LaRussa? All these pitching changes this early is crazy.
  14. Cards leave the bases loaded. Thanks Molina. At least Marshall threw 31 pitches in the first inning.
  15. It would really suck for the Brewers to win tonight and still lose a half game for the day because the Cubs would have won both games of the double header.
  16. Estrada's throws are usually in the general vicinity of 2nd base...the problem is that the basestealer is coming up from his slide by the time the ball gets there.
  17. It's hard for me to get too worked up on this, since he's likely just playing to the home crowd with this column, but Tulowitzki isn't the "clear" choice for ROY like this guy seems to think. First of all, the notion that Braun's "unusual" name will get him more votes is just asinine -- in what universe is "Braun" a more unusual name than "Tulowitzki"? Then he goes on to acknowledge that Braun would most likely be beating Tulo in most offensive categories had he been playing the entire year, but says that Tulo should win the award anyway since it's the "real" season and not the "fanciful projection of it." Punishing Braun because he wasn't called up until the end of May is stupid. Even more stupid is saying Tulo should win ROY because he turned an unassisted triple play this year.
  18. I think it should be noted that the Cubs haven't really performed well against their opponents to finish out the year so far this season: vs. STL: 7-4 vs. HOU: 6-6 vs. CIN: 5-7 vs. PIT: 5-7 vs. FLA: 0-3 Just for a comparison, here's how the Brewers have done against the teams they finish out September against: vs. PIT: 9-4 vs. CIN: 5-7 vs. HOU: 11-4 vs. ATL: 1-2 vs. STL: 5-7 vs. SD: 0-3
  19. Funnily enough, I was just thinking about this before I even saw this thread, and thought that a matchup with Arizona would probably be the most favorable. The Brewers have handled Arizona pretty well this season, and since both teams would be extremely young, neither would have much of an advantage as far as postseason experience goes. I'd definitely love to avoid facing the Mets, since they just seem like the type of team that's been doing just enough to get into the playoffs before really turning it on -- like we saw in that blowout game in Milwaukee, when the Mets want to be good, they can be very good. I think the Padres would be a pretty bad matchup for the Brewers, too -- lots of strikeout pitchers and a solid bullpen, and their offense has come around with Milton Bradley hitting well. I'd rather take my chances against a possible playoff rotation of Webb, Davis, Hernandez, Gonzalez, and Owings than Pedro, El Duque, Glavine, Maine and Perez.
  20. Hill vs. Gorzelanny Wainwright vs. Webb I actually read a post on NSBB in their IGT saying that tonight is a must-win for the Cubs, otherwise the Bucs will be going for a sweep on Sunday, since Zambrano pitches on Saturday. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif That's also a heckuva matchup in the desert. Wainwright has had something like 7 straight quality starts for the Cards, while Webb has been beaten around since the Brewers broke his scoreless streak.
  21. I'd expect to see the Jenkins-Hart-Gross OF again, since they seem to be platooning Hall and Gross lately. Can't say I can complain, given the results so far.
  22. If the Brewers win the World Series, they should give Ryan Dempster a ring. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  23. While seeing Zambrano getting plunked would be kind of funny, you wouldn't even have to hit him to get inside his head -- you could just throw something close to hitting him, and he'd probably come out the next inning and give up 5 runs. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Cabrera is definitely one of the more cocky players in the league, but doesn't get that much attention since he plays in Florida...if he played for the Mets, his antics would be getting a helluva lot more exposure. The fact that he's gotten to be so lazy despite having so much talent also kind of annoys me -- he's gotten so fat that he's probably taken a couple years off the end of his career.
  24. They got really, really old and everyone is falling back to Earth after a couple years of having career years -- Thome's regressing, Konerko, Pierzynski and Dye are on their way down, Podsednik's been hurt and has stunk when he's healthy, Darin Erstad just plain sucks, and Ozzie Guillen insists on giving up outs. Outside of Jenks and maybe Buehrle, their pitching has stunk, too. It doesn't help that they probably have the least amount of talent on their roster out of anyone in that division -- the Royals may stink, but the young guys they have may already be more talented than anyone on the White Sox roster. Like sbrylski said, it's been noted on blogs like FJM that the White Sox were predicted to lose 90 games at the beginning of the year -- something that columnists and "experts" tore apart before the season started and are now hoping everyone forgets while they write "How could this have possibly happened!?" columns. On another note, the White Sox mortgaged their future for a couple good years, and it's starting to come back to haunt them -- it doesn't help that Chris Young is hitting 30 HR in his rookie year after Chicago traded him to Arizona for Esteban Loaiza. Hell, they could probably use Frank Thomas these days, but Kenny Williams chased him out of town because of their personal dispute.
  25. That's definitely better than having only 3 starts left. http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/laugh.gif I'm not sure, either, since the number has seemed to go up with every injury in the rotation -- I seem to remember it going from 170 to 175 to 180 to "a little over 180". Things would be a lot easier if the Brewers still had a large division lead (that way they could just rest Yo until the last week or so to get him ready for the postseason), but at least Yo's pitching well while the Brewers are making do with the position they're in.
