  1. Part of me hopes the Brewers bust out some kind of new post-game celebration if they win tonight, but it'd also be pretty cool to see the Brewers rough up the Cards without celebrating, just to see how St. Louis sportswriters react. Watching the pregame show, I forgot it was a retro Friday.
  2. Obviously, the nickname is the difference. Pre-Diego, he was killing rallies and struggling to catch up to pitches. Now he's starting rallies. That's some pretty conclusive evidence, if you ask me.
  3. Just a friendly reminder that the IGT isn't really the place for one-word reaction posts to what happens in the game ("Yes!", "Boooo!", etc.) -- the chat room is a better place for that kind of thing. Back to the game, hopefully the bullpen can hang on here. They might as well empty out the pen -- the relievers are well-rested after the first couple games, and there's an off-day tomorrow.
  4. The scouting report on him always said he was subpar defensively, and while today is a small sample I think we're seeing why. He's looked alright with the bat, though, so I wouldn't mind seeing him get more starts than Mike Rivera ever did.
  5. To quote Bob Uecker in Major League 2... Harry Doyle: You know I used to hate Parkman when he was with the A's. It's amazing how a new uniform can change your attitude about a guy. [covers Mic[/i]] Harry Doyle: He's still a (blank).
  6. Kind of seems like the whole "rotation battle" was a sham to begin with if Suppan is declared the winner. Some of Macha's reasons for picking Suppan are pretty ridiculous, including the one about him not being matched up against the other team's #1 starter. Yeah, because that was his problem last year. Hopefully this is only a short-term thing, and they can skip the 5th spot as much as possible.
  7. At least with Cook we won't have to worry about Diego not being able to catch up to a mid-90's fastball. Cook has owned the Brewers, though, so my hopes are less than high. Hopefully they can jump on him early.
  8. No, seriously, it's time for Ian Stewart to leave town. I don't suppose the odds are good that he gets the day off tomorrow afternoon?
  9. http://baseballbrew.com/files/2009/07/trevor-time.jpg Listen to the crowd reaction to the first bell toll...wow.
  10. Yeah, he gave up the 4 earned runs on 9 hits, but he struck out 8 without walking anyone. He was sluggish towards the end, but once he settled down after the first couple innings it was pretty smooth sailing.
  11. Very nice debuts for Wolf and Hawkins tonight. Here's to hoping they can add a run or two before Trevor Time.
  12. That would make it 4-for-20 with runners in scoring position so far this season. It wouldn't be the Brewers without the RISP problems, would it? I guess you could say at least they're getting plenty of guys to advance that far.
  13. How long until we can induct Ian Stewart into the Hall of Brewer Killers? Wow. Hopefully Wolf can get through this inning with the lead in tact.
  14. Don't you know it.Career .313/.395/.576 line in 352 plate appearances, so BCI2004 isn't far off. Yeesh.
  15. Watching the feeds from other teams really gives you an appreciation for our guys, to say the least. I think I remember there being complaints about the Colorado announcers from those of us who have been watching on MLB.TV the past couple years.
  16. Tapped out to third, but got a reasonable cheer from the home crowd when he was introduced. I'm not convinced he would've gotten that cheer if he started yesterday, but it's a much smaller (and kinder) crowd tonight.ie less intoxicatedExactly what I was thinking, but I was trying to think of a nicer way to say it. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

  18. I agree, even though Prince managed to score there. Zaun won't be able to play at the pace Kendall did (heck, even Kendall couldn't play at that pace), so it'd be better to get him a lot of rest early on.
  19. I can't say I blame him. There's a lot of stuff to read there.
  20. Nice spot on the inside corner for that last K. It looks like Wolf might finally be settling down, which is nice. I was worried about his velocity and control in the first couple innings.
  21. Guys, let's limit the discussion on where we can watch the game to legal options.
  22. This will be the first game I'll actually be able to watch. Hopefully Wolf makes a good first impression with the home fans.
  23. Warning: the video is not for the squeamish.
  24. You're right; I had forgotten about Cervelli. Moeller was with the Yankees in 2008 in a similar capacity, so it makes sense that they'd be more comfortable with him in that role than Rivera once they saw Baltimore released him earlier this week.
  25. Well, with Jorge Posada being less than stellar defensively these days, I can understand the Yankees not wanting to keep him around. Moeller (still) can't hit a lick, but he still has the reputation of being a decent defensive veteran catcher, and that'll keep you on someone's roster for awhile.
