  1. At least Bush has settled down since the 40-pitch first inning. Still plenty of time to get even at 2.
  2. Carlos Lee out of the Astros lineup today. On the Brewers side, I'm a little surprised Kottaras is getting the start after the night game, but at the same time, I'm not surprised at all Macha doesn't want to start Lucroy. Please get a win, Brewers.
  3. Really? The Brewers are only down 3 and have only been up to hit twice so far. I'll agree that Narveson's been frustrating tonight, but this is far from over.
  4. Torn labrum on a check swing...talk about your bad luck. That's almost as unfortunate as Corey Koskie's concussion. I'm a little worried about Lucroy not getting enough playing time, though -- catcher is a position where you really can't learn without actually playing, and I'm just not confident that Macha will trust him enough to give him more than a start a week. Hopefully I'm wrong.
  5. First Brewers home win since April 26th. Here's to hoping for a few more. Untuckem!
  6. Nice outing for the Wolfman, assuming he's done. ERA is down to 4.52. I get the feeling this series is going to do wonders for the Brewers' team ERA.
  7. That one's for your mom, Pence! (see the sig) Nice first inning so far between Wolf's quick inning and the offense's start.
  8. Any chance the weather forecast shows a giant vortex of suck developing over Miller Park? Here's to hoping Wolf returns to late-April form against one of his old teams.
  9. The first round of All-Star voting results were announced today, and Ryan Braun is leading all NL outfielders in votes. (Link) Where other Brewers rank: Fielder - 3rd in 1B Weeks - (distant) 2nd in 2B Escobar - 3rd in SS McGehee - 3rd in 3B Edmonds - 12th in OF Gomez - 14th in OF A little disheartening that Casey is so far behind in the 3B voting despite the hot start, but I think he'll have a real hard time beating out the big-market players in Polanco and Wright. I'm a little surprised Escobar is so high in the SS voting, but it seems to be a pretty thin position for the NL.
  10. Bill: "What are those, geraniums?" Craig: "I just call them red flowers."
  11. Games like Opening Day and this Twins series is why I can still get so excited about Gomez (and so frustrated when he goes into a bad stretch). As long as you know what you're going to get from him and don't expect too much, I think he's been a fine addition to the team.
  12. 11-11 in each of the last two seasons, with ERA's of 4.05 and 4.03, ERA+'s of 103 and 109. Pretty much exactly average.
  13. Congrats on career hit #1 in career AB #1, Jon. Can we nickname him the Ragin' Cajun even though he's from Florida (went to Louisiana-Lafayette)?
  14. Moyer's been around long enough to have faced Paul Molitor 32 times. Jeez. I wonder how many Brewers were infants when Moyer broke into the big leagues.
  15. From what I heard, Yost wasn't in Kansas City yesterday when the team announced the news, but he's expected to be at the helm today. Maybe we'll hear some pre-game comments from him today.
  16. Just like last year, I'd be glad to answer any questions about the game if you don't have it already (while I'm not busy turning the Brewers into a dynasty). http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  17. I can't wait for the first "Zacky pitched great" sound bite or the first 360 F-Bomb when they're getting blown out by a team from the AL East. This is one of the most exciting things I've seen since the Royals signed Jason Kendall. This pairing is just so fitting on so many levels.
  18. True, but Howard also has more hardware than Prince at this point -- Rookie of the Year, MVP, World Series ring, and a pair of NL pennants. That kind of thing tends to factor into contract negotiations, but I agree $109M guaranteed for Prince seems low for what he's demanding. I'd think he would at least want $120M guaranteed over those 6 years -- still significantly lower than the Howard deal, but more in line for what he's been rumored to be looking for.
  19. I can't get myself too worked up about this right now. Hanson is one of the best young pitchers in the league -- it's not like this offense is getting shut down by the John Ely's of the world again. Top of the 6th was bad, but Davis was one out away from getting a quality start and keeping the Brewers in the game. Parra made a bad pitch and got burned.
  20. There's some pitching match-ups coming up that aren't very friendly to the Brewers... luckily, the Braves can't seem to score runs. Keep the May hot streak going, guys.
  21. Thank you, Jody, for replacing Bad Chad as the answer to the "Who's the last Brewer to hit for the cycle?" trivia question. Nice to see him get the standing O, too.
  22. Peralta's final line: 6.2 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 3 K. 13 Groundouts vs. 3 Flyouts. Nice to see Howell with a nice outing, too. For whatever reason, I've liked him from the start.
  23. Every time I see a ball hit to the left field corner at Dodger Stadium, I can't help but think about the Gabe Kapler catch.
  24. That's cool, but Zaun has a better chance of becoming the Queen of England than hitting a triple. I wonder if Tom Haudricourt is going to have to throw this game out, too, when trying to say how bad the offense stinks.
  25. Here's to hoping it doesn't take another rough first inning for the Narv Dog to settle down. I can live with another 5 IP, 3 ER performance given the off day, but it'll take a strong night from the bullpen.
