  1. Very solid outing by Mr. Burns...dare I say, eeeeeexcellent? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif http://heylarryhughespleasestoptakingsomanybadshots.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/02/mr-burns-excellent.jpg
  2. With the game entering "hurry up and get it over with" mode, I've been surfing Twitter...some good comments from TH: "Just talked to Mike Cameron. He has soreness in his right shoulder and left knee. He hopes to be able to play tomorrow." about 4 hours ago from web "We're 15 minutes from game time and I'd say there are 250 people in lovely Land Shark Stadium. Shorter to introduce the fans than players." about 3 hours ago from web And then there's Jon Heyman following up on a rumor that Carlos Beltran has swine flu...apparently the Mets are telling people not to worry because he doesn't have a fever. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  3. I would hope we're all capable of playing nice in this thread. I imagine this thread won't stay open long if that's not the case. On the topic of Parra, it really looks like he's lost confidence out there. Some were saying in the game thread that it looks like he doesn't care or that he takes a lackadaisical approach on the mound, but I don't necessarily agree with that. To me he looks more helpless than anything, because he can't seem to find the strike zone with anything but an arrow-straight fastball. I wouldn't be opposed to sending him to Nashville to iron everything out, but then the issue becomes who they can replace him with.
  4. Well it looks like they're going to try like hell to get through the 5th inning so they can just put the tarp on after that and call it if they have to. I suppose if we can't get this game thrown out by not playing 5 I wouldn't be opposed to a 5-inning loss...at least it would give the pen a day or rest.
  5. I don't think a lack of maturity is the problem. It's the fact that the only pitches he can place in the strike zone are fastballs down the middle.
  6. Well, looks like Manny's going to be forced to at least get through this inning considering the bullpen situation. Hopefully they throw the tarp on after this half inning and don't take it off the rest of the night.
  7. Volquez left his start in the first inning back tonight with "numbness" in his hand...I imagine that can't be good and could be a sign of a more serious injury. Didn't Tim Hudson have that kind of sensation before eventually finding out he needed TJ surgery? Did Dusty just kill another promising young pitcher? Rotoworld says that Cincy's medical staff will look him over on Tuesday, but this has to be scary news for the Reds.
  8. As Casey said, according to TH Macha explained that he was pretty much forced into using Julio that inning: Looks like a roster move will be made overnight. TH noted that DiFelice is battling some kind of inflamed elbow problem and it's so stiff he can't pitch. With Parra going tomorrow, they'll almost definitely need someone to suck up an inning or two. I imagine Julio would be the one to go, barring a DL stint for DiFelice.
  9. Probably would've been if it wasn't so humid in Miami. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Doesn't seem like the ball's traveling very well at all..hopefully they can string together a few gappers.
  10. Well they got out of it only down 3...still within striking distance, even with Braun out of the lineup. Hopefully they can start chipping away with a run this inning.
  11. Macha was probably just trying to get Julio some work, since he hadn't pitched since last Tuesday. Granted, a two run game in wet playing conditions likely isn't the best way to get a guy work, but I'm just trying to figure out what he was thinking at this point. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  12. Well, this is certainly an interesting development. Hopefully they can survive this inning with the score at least tied.
  13. Let's see if we can get more posts in this thread than the number of people actually watching this game in person...I think three pages or so should do it. Hopefully Suppan can take advantage of a pitcher's park and get us through 6 innings unscathed.
  14. 4 @ FLA (3-1) 3 @ATL (1-2) 3 vs COL (3-0) 3 vs CWS (2-1) 3 @ CLE (2-1) 3 @ DET (1-2) 3 vs MIN (1-2) 3 vs SF (2-1) 3 vs NYM (1-2) 15-12 18 HR
  15. I think it's hard to judge him on one isolated incident when in every other case he's seemed to be a great guy. At the same time, he's still only like 24 and emotions can get the best of anyone. If there's a lot of negative backlash based on this, I think it'll mostly be from people who didn't like James (or maybe more specifically, the hype surrounding James) in the first place. After all, Michael Jordan was never one to congratulate opponents if he lost, either, and nearly every sportswriter fawned over that.
  16. Looking at the replays, I thought Hart was pretty clearly out and Hanigan was safe (looked to me like he got his leg through Rivera's before the tag), but I'll definitely take both plays they went down. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Definitely nice to see the bats come out today, but maybe they should save some offense for tomorrow..
  17. Doesn't look like Cueto has his good stuff going tonight, and can't seem to find the strike zone. Nice to get on the board early, but it would've been even nicer to get something across in the second inning, too. I'm digging the patience so far, though...if they keep it up, they'll have no problem tacking on extra runs.
  18. I think Mat's obviously shown a ton of intensity in the small amount of time in the field he's had, and it's great to hear that they're already "fixing" his defense. I have to wonder how much of it has to do with him hearing the complaints about him being lazy/unprofessional/arrogant in spring training as far showing up on time and not telling the club about injuries. Even if he is just trying to redeem himself, it's good that he at least realizes that he made a poor first impression and is working to change it. On the field, I've liked what I've seen so far, but it's still an incredibly small sample. As others mentioned, the average is low but he's hit some absolute screamers right at defenders. That will even out eventually, and he seems to be pretty calm at the plate compared to some of the other young guys the team has brought up in the past few years...the only one who looked even more calm and looked like he knew he belonged was Braun, and that turned out very well. I don't expect him to hit like Braun, but it's nice to see another guy come in and be able to hit the ball hard almost every time he makes contact.
  19. Bummer. Rest up and hope the bats come around against Cincinnati. Looks like the Reds are coming into the series a little battered, too, so maybe the Crew will be able to capitalize. It's still May, and the Brewers still have a wildcard lead.
  20. Well there you go. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Hopefully Hardy has at least one more single in him.
  21. Looked like he got hit on either the wrist or elbow to me. Hopefully they're just being really careful here.
  22. Well I guess we were due to get spanked by the Cards sooner or later. Kind of surprising that Macha's pulling Suppan now, but I can't say I'm against it.
  23. Ugh...Fielder and Cameron with first pitch outs after Wainwright can't find the strike zone. At least they've gotten one run out of it so far, but they've been bailing Wainwright out so far this inning.
  24. Considering that the team is in playoff contention again and the homefield advantage stipulation is tied to the All-Star game, I'd much rather have the best players possible starting for the National League. I'll feel happy for any player that makes it, but in my mind there are only a few players I'd say deserve it at this point considering the stakes -- Braun, Hoffman, and Gallardo -- and we can only vote for one of them.
