  1. Let's get a couple more here, guys, and keep things interesting for the 9th. Gamel's still hitting the ball hard, which is good to see. I wouldn't be opposed to seeing him get some starts against the White Sox, even though they're throwing a couple lefties at the Brewers in the series.
  2. Just a stinkbomb of a series against a team that's obscenely hot right now. It would definitely stink to get swept in this series if they don't make a rally in the last two innings, but hopefully they can respond against Chicago in much the same way St. Louis has responded to also getting swept by this team.
  3. Well here we go, Brauny. For whatever reason this year I haven't been confident in him in big situations like this...please prove me wrong.
  4. Nice AB for Corey...now let's keep it going, Craig and Cat, so we can get Braun and Fielder up with guys on for a change.
  5. Alright, Corey, please just hit the ball in the air. It'd be nice to get a run across, but it'd be nicer to avoid a double play.
  6. Stetter's on some kind of hot streak right now. The offense has been frustrating, but at least they've been finding ways to get guys on base. At this rate you'd have to figure they'll find a way to get someone across in this game, but three's looking a little tricky.
  7. Mat's gotten rung up a couple times on pitches that looked a little high. On a related note, I hate this ump's one-legged strikeout dance.
  8. Man, this team can't catch any breaks...Braun would've scored easily if that hop hadn't cleared the fence. Drive 'em both in, Mat.
  9. Not sure I like Hall against Cook, but Macha's going to hang onto those batter vs. pitcher splits until the day he dies. Hopefully the new toe tap helps him deliver some more magic.
  10. Counsell (pre-Weeks injury), McGehee, and Gamel have all played very well for bench players. Rivera's hitting about as well as you can expect a back-up catcher to hit. Every team has a few guys on their bench that are fringe players...that's usually why they're on the bench. It's also unfair to say Catalanatto hasn't done anything, in my opinion, since he's done more in his limited time than the other three you mentioned. Nice job working out of trouble by Yo, but I'm afraid he still doesn't look very sharp out there...he could be hitting a bit of a mid-season wall considering how few innings he pitched last year.
  11. Chris Smith pitched pretty well, too, considering he hadn't gotten any game action since getting called up. It's frustrating that they can't scrape together many runs, but at least they're not getting blown out...I'd feel a lot worse about these losses if the Brewers were getting spanked by Colorado like the Cardinals did over the weekend.
  12. If this winning streak for Colorado gets much longer they're going to wonder why they didn't fire Clint Hurdle sooner. Hopefully Yo's sharper tomorrow than he's been since Memorial Day. With the way Colorado's hitting with guys on he can't afford to be missing his spots.
  13. Very nice job working out of a jam by McClung. If the bullpen can keep putting up zeros I still like the Brewers' chances as long as they keep getting baserunners.
  14. Ryan doesn't need to go on a reality TV show to find love. He already gets tons of it here at Brewerfan. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  15. 4 walks and 4 hits through 4.2 innings against JDLR so far...hopefully they can finally break a couple more runs across. At least they're getting runners.
  16. Still early, but you have to think Bush is done after 5...he's been uncharacteristically inefficient tonight. You have to wonder if the line drive off the elbow has him rusty. Plenty of time to get back on top, though.
  17. Looks like Demetrius McKelvie might be a tough sign: East Columbus Star Seeking $800,000 in Baseball Draft Looks like opinions are definitely divided on him...should be interesting to see how this plays out.
  18. Former Western Mass. baseball standouts Pete Fatse and Nick Ahmed find success at UConn
  19. Last year the Cubs' offense in general was just scary, but I probably feared Jim Edmonds the most. Words cannot describe how happy I am to see him out of the division (and out of baseball at the moment). This year, Soriano is still the guy I hate seeing up to bat. He's golfed too many low-and-inside changeups for go-ahead home runs in the late innings over the past couple years...you can't even pitch around the guy because he swings at everything and somehow manages to hit it out if he makes contact. It used to be Ramirez, but with his injury this year my fears have subsided for a little while. I still have that walkoff HR off of Cordero two years ago ingrained into my memory. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  20. Just a clunker of a game, and the Rockies are playing some really good baseball right now. Oh well...at least the Cards lost too, and hopefully they can bounce back with the bats again tomorrow.
  21. NSBB just imploded with the Jackson pick. Gotta love it.
  22. While ESPNEWS' coverage of the draft is pretty sporadic (they break in with an update every so often sandwiched in between coverage for the NBA and NHL finals), when Keith Law is on he at least has interesting things to say. When he's not evaluating talent, he's explaining in layman's terms why a team would intentionally take a lesser player (like Pittsburgh did with the catcher from BC). While most people here probably already knew those reasons firsthand, it's nice that they're at least trying to explain why a team would do it and aren't pretending like every pick was at the top of that team's draft boards like it sounds every pick is being portrayed on MLBN.
  23. Apparently Keith Law has both Aaron Crow and Tanner Scheppers falling out of the first round due to salary concerns. Would anyone here roll the dice on picking them and taking their chances with trying to sign them? You'd think those guys would hate to play another year of independent ball, so that could give a team like the Brewers leverage...would they be draft eligible again next year if they decide not to sign (again)?
  24. Well the good news is that he's appealing the suspension, and these things tend to get delayed for quite a bit. I think there's a decent chance it gets reduced to a one game suspension, but either way a couple off days won't hurt the Brewers too much. Just pick a stretch where the Brewers can face two right-handed starters in a row so you can get Gerut or Cat into the starting lineup for a couple days.
  25. Just so we get this straight -- Calipari is potentially getting a second Final Four appearance stripped from the record books, yet he's allowed to continue coaching...and Kelvin Sampson is essentially banned from college basketball for making too many phone calls to recruits?
