Let's say the Brewers do continue to skid around. They don't go on a big losing streak, but they continue to lose series, go into the AS break at .500 in second place behind a "hot" (by NL Central standards) Cubs/Cards squad and generally look like they are slowly bleeding to death. What good would it do to fire Yost in midseason? As pointed out above, I think he's liked and respected by the players. This is a young team and I don't know that axing Yost is going to help if managment believes, despite the downturn, that the division is still there for the taking in the second half. In a worst case scenario, if Youst is going to be fired suring the season, I'd wait to fire him after it becomes eminently clear that the Brewers won't make the postseason and the the season is, in effect, a failure. At that point, say in mid-September, I'd fire Yost to make a point to the young kids that failure is unacceptable. But in doing so I'd also have a successor pretty much lined up and a plan for going forward from there in place.
