  1. We don't know what RR is going to do in the playoffs until it happens. With homefield still on the line these games are as good as any for continuing evaluation of options under a bit of pressure. Just reading between the lines and observing some of the things he's done in the last few days leads me to believe that he will be more flexible than most here are willing to believe. Of course, given the roster, flexibility will have its limits. But it seems clear to me the RR understands that there is a significant difference between playoff baseball and the grind of 162. Homefield ceratinly makes a difference, and the Brewers are certainly trying to win these games, but I don't blame RR at all for not turning these games into something bigger than they are. They aren't elimination games, and there is no point turning them into virtual elimination games. Doing so sends the implicit message that the Brewers can't win in October if they don't win today and tomorrow. It's just simply not the case. I'd much rather have a team that is loose, confident and having multiple players ready to contribute in their roles than one that has been overmanaged and overburdened with pressure that need not be borne.
  2. Yo in Game 1 is a lock, and probably should be. Game 2 is still open. Marcum will be on full rest for Game 2. It could be that Greinke is being prepped for either 2 or 3 depending on opponent. Home field is certainly desirable, but it's not the end all, be-all. Yo and Greinke are both more important moving forward in Games 1 thru 3 of the NLDS (and then hopefully beyond) than they are being used up on Wednesday. Tired of the underlying notion that the Brewers are in a world of trouble unless everything lines up just so for them and that every decision must be optimized to a degree of precision that's not measurable. It's like complaining about a "spring training lineup" that scored 8 runs.
  3. Marcum gives up 7 runs in in 4 2/3 and everyone is complaining about everything else.
  4. LOL. Is it just me, or did they take the "strike zone" off the AZ/LA Gameday?
  5. The Pirates pitchers these last two innings are reminiscent of my Pee Wee debut circa 1976. Plunked 3 of first four hitters I faced with numerous pitches nowhere near the plate. I never pitched again.
  6. I was just gonna post, "DOn't do anything stupid, GoGo." Whew.
  7. He saw a pitch that was a strike. He swung. It's what he does.
  8. Gameday sure does make it seem like the Dodgers are getting squeezed pretty good this inning. AZ not even swinging the bats on anything close.
  9. They also should have been out of one inning but for a missed call at second base on a CS.
  10. According to Gameday Eovaldi just threw four strikes and every one of them was called a ball.
  11. The final error didn't matter that much in the Cards game. It still would have been man at 3rd with less than 2 outs. The Cards made their own bed with their offensive failings.
  12. Play-in game would be in STL per BA and Rock earlier in the broadcast.
  13. Odds that this game is settled in 9 and still gets done after the AZ/Dodgers game?
  14. AZ not backing down. Looks like this will go until Wednesday.
  15. The network placement is a minor issue, but I do think it's kind of sad that unless you have cable/satellite you cannot watch a single NL playoff game at home. The only thing keeping the ALCS on over-the-air network TV is the fact that FOX will pay for it because they're comfortable with the bet that they will have the Yanks and/or Red Sox in the ALCS every season. I love football, and the NFL is a perfect fit for TV. But it makes me kind of sad that baseball now has a worse playoff TV deal than even the NBA.
  16. Can use an easier win for a change. What would really be nice is Lincecum helping out a bit and prividing a 1-game cushion on AZ.
  17. Anybody seen anything on broadcast booth assignments for the playoffs from TBS? I did a quick search, but didn't see anything. They probably won't be finalized until the match-ups are set. I know there are variety of opinions out there, but I'd be happy if BA got the Brewers series. As a side question, anybody else think it stinks that all these games are on TBS? It's the way of the world now, and there are many worse places to have them, but for some folks the games being on TBS means they can't watch them at home.
  18. Heck of a play by Stanton. Double written all overit.

  20. I posted it a long time ago, but I really do think my preferred rotation in the playoffs is Yo, Marcum, Greinke. Can trust him to stabilize his performance over a season. DOn't know if I want to trust him as my 1 or 2 in the postseason. Yo is your 1. Marcum is a bulldog.
