  1. A win tonight would make the Saturday night game in MPLS seem almost routine.
  2. Wow, huge thanks for not ringing up Casey. I'd be pretty upset if I were the Dbacks. But now I'd be really happy seeing Counsell.
  3. Unfortunately, some will use that stat to mask the more pressing, deeper problems with this team, writing this off as "just a rough patch".
  4. Did Coshun and Davey just give credit to Zach Duke? I guess he deserves some, but I wager we could have assembled a group of starters from AA and below that would have achieved similar results tonight.
  5. If the offense consisted only of Prince playing HR Derby for the next three innings, the Brewers would score more runs than they will playing conventional baseball.
  6. I can't recall the last time I was happy to hear the words "No TV tomorrow."
  7. Maybe Wolf can get into a fight with RR when RR brings the hook. If we're going to have turn-back-the-clock night we may as well make it a greatest-hits night as well.
  8. Thank you for mentioning Atlanta, BA. They are the easy wildcard winner this year. Everyone else is just fighting to win a division and hope they can win maybe a game in the playoffs. Win two and you've set a 5 year high in this division.
  9. One more run and they've got 'em right where they want 'em.
  10. I keep a graph that charts the Brewers record .500 over time. It's amazing how this season is dominated by long straight lines in one direction or the other. The trip after the break will be telling, but by then end of the night we may be saying the same thing about the rest of this homestand. If the Cinci monkey can't be thrown off the back, it could be a really long, depressing AS Break with the only light at the end of the tunnel appearing more and more to be like a train.
  11. Don't feel bad, I can't conceive of a way in which those 10 minutes could have been spent in a worse manner.
  12. Maybe this isn't the place for it, but with tonight's lineup being a potential lowpoint (and God I hope it is as I shudder to see things go lower), I have to ask: If the Brewers have been disappointing so far, what are the Cincinatti Reds? Their pitching has been about on par with Milwaukee's. They have scored more runs (not sure how a park adjustment factor would work here). They are the defending division champs. And yet they are bheind the Brewers and the Pirates in the standings. Hooray for the misery of others! Now let's see a Brewer victory.
  13. I don't want Braun to push it if he doesn't have to. I also don't want to be deprived of being able to say I once watched a major league game in which the 5-6-7 hitters were Betancourt, McGehee and Wilson.
  14. I saw that and adjusted my monitor because I thought the blue font wasn't working correctly.
  15. All you have to do is look at Arizona. There isn't anything very impressive about them at all. And they are ahead of Milwaukee in the standings. Being in first place is a function of the division you occupy. The Seattle Seahawks finished in first place, too. The idea is to be playing high-quality baseball. There are too many ways in which the team is not doing so, and in many of them they aren't even close.
  16. The brewers simply aren't good enough to play bad baseball and still win. It just gets worse on the road. Get T-Plush on here and maybe there will be some excitement.
  17. Loe would actually be a good fit in a LaRussa bullpen. Bring him in to face one guy and then get him out of there.
  18. Brewers make stupid baserunning decision vs simple throw. Score D'backs make stupid baserunning decision vs realtively harder play. Out. And now Arizona got shafted on that call I think. But the Brewers have been "unlucky" with their staff this year. Can we please find a new "8th inning guy"?
  19. I liked my "Fukushima has 1 shutdown and 2 meltdowns" line yesterday a lot better and got nothing, but TheCrew's response to this one was right on the money.
  20. Because the Brewers are at home and I'm feeling kind of chesty: Washington - Bottom of 10th Marcos Mateo pitching for Chicago M Mateo relieved J Russell. J Werth walked. L Hernandez hit for H Rodriguez. L Hernandez sacrificed to first, J Werth to second. C Marmol relieved M Mateo. J Werth stole third. J Werth scored on C Marmol's wild pitch. 1 Runs, 0 Hits, 0 Errors
