  1. With Weeks getting on, if's it's not happeneing this inning, it probably isn't going to happen. Hard truth with this lineup from 5 on down.
  2. Can't complain about bad luck not scoring Casey when the only reason he was on was the dumb luck of his pop-up dropping in for a single. All sort of evened out there.
  3. How are the Brewers outplaying the other team? The other team has more total bases, has made better defensive plays and has the lead. It might feel like the Brewers should be ahead, but I think that sums up the reason the Brewers aren't leading the division by about 5 games right now.
  4. Losing meekly to Scott Baker is the kind of game that gets BF.net up in arms. So, no matter the result on the field, tonight should be entertaining.
  5. Exhibit 245,677 in support of the contention that Wins and Losses are virtually worthless pitching stats: Estrada had the best line of any Brewer pitcher today. He took the loss.
  6. I think you can replace "power" with just about any positive baseball attribute (exception: grit) in the above post and the sentiment remains valid.
  7. Won't be at all surprised if the Brewers end up short of 3 combined victories in the two series. The Twins weren't as bad as their start, they play in a better league and are hot. The Brewers aren't hot right now. The best thing going into the weekend is that the Twins have to fly here from SF after what amounts to a late afternoon start (CT) while the Crew get a day off. Pitching lines up decently enough for the Twins. With a lefty (Liriano) going against him, Yo won't get much run support even if he pitches well. Baker v Wolf is probably the best matchup for the Crew. Pavano/Narveson is a push at best for the Crew.
  8. I just regained conciousness after hearing Kotsay introduced. I'm assuming it did not end well?
  9. Yes, he was sent down. The question is, why hasn't he come back up when the likes of Herrera and DiFelice have?
  10. Is Mike McClendon dead? Did anyone post his obituary? I know he's not an All-Star but his time up seemed more worthwhile than that of a few of his bullpen colleagues.
  11. Well, that killed that inning right quick. Don't understand that at all. Estrada's 3 inning line very similar to Marcum's.
  12. I'd be a heck of a lot more worried about them missing the ACL than Marcum's flexor. The muscle injury is much more of a tolerance deal on teh part of the player. The ACL is a structural issue that trainers can diagnose rather quickly and with a high degree of confidence in the vast majority of cases. Maybe baseball guys don't see as many knee injuries as others but that was bad miss.
  13. If he looks OK and he says he's OK, it's pretty hard not to let the guy pitch, especially if Dr. Raasch OKs it and you have absolutely nothing in the way of MRI imagery or other objective medical evidence to keep him from pitching. I may have erred on teh side of caution anyway, but it's not tantamount to baseball malpractice to let a guy play if the only reason for keeping him out is because you're scared.
  14. Ugh. At this point I just wnat JL to double Price's pitch count on the inning. Getting him to 8 would be nice.
  15. Yeah. Was a decent piece of hitting by Shoppach. Pitch was actually off the plate away, he just got it. Ball did seem to carry a bit better than it first appeared it would off the bat.
  16. Let's get one tomorrow boys and then take a well-deserved day off.
  17. Phils tie cards at 1 in 7th. Halladay out after 6IP, 97 pitches. Gload PH for him and scored tying run.
  18. And everyone in the dugout was having a great old time. Narveson had better be on the lookout for a come-backer. Karma will get you.
  19. I don't know why it's sad. They did a good job getting on base via the walk and then McGehee did what he needed to do to get a run home. Just because some guys get on base doesn't mean the next guy is going to smack one off the wall. Not asking for a grand slam in the first, but both Hart and Casey looked pretty bad on their ABs. I give Hellickson credit there, but there is some reciprocal blame, too.
  20. That half-inning makes me sad. They were fortunate to even score there. Edit: Ump keeps giving Greinke this strike zone and 1 should be all they need.
  21. The Brewers/Cards schedules are pretty similar from now until the break. They get Phils, O's, Jays and Rays. Crew gets Yanks, Twins, Twins and Rays. Both also have D-Backs and Reds going into break. With Crew a game back in the loss column right now I'd probably be happy enough with any gain at all, provided the Reds don't get hot and pass 'em both by when they play the Cards and Crew for 7 straight roadies before the break. If the Brewer keep on giving up runs like they have for the past week, just staying even will likely be too much to ask. The Brewer offense simply hasn't been as good as either of their main divisional competitors. Let's hope tonight proves in hindsight to be a pivotal game where the Crew got their swagger back a bit. They seem kind of beat down right now. Not having a day off in forever may have something to do with it, but it's big boy baseball and they need to just keep grinding until they get hot again.
  22. Well, with just under 1/3 of the month to go, the Crew sit at 10-9 so far despite being 2-3 in terms of series played (plus a dangling chad loss against the Reds). So just going 4-4 the rest of the way will put them at a good month by my pre-stated standard, but it sure does seems the momentum (such as there is any) is heading in the wrong direction. Hopefully the boys can put some electricity back in MP the next two days, take a well-earned rest on Thursday and then take the weekend series with the Twins. That would put them over .500 on the month with another opportunity to turn things around on the road in a big-time environment.
