  1. Provided we don't see something that would legitmately seem miraculous, given how the Brewers have never seemed to be in any of these games, I'm pulling for the Brewers to again outhit the Yankees. With 2 Brewer hits and no more Yankee hits or runs, the Brewers will have lost the series 21-4 despite having outhit the Yankees in every single game, and by an overall count of 27-23. If it happens, somebody need to send that one in to Kurkjian. Can't have happened all that often.
  2. It's not a great lineup. When you throw 3 left hand hitters out there to face CC it's worse.
  3. Well, technically the Brewers aren't the worst in MLB on the road. Just in the NL. Hey! At least we're not KC or Oakland! Heck of a slogan for a team that fancies itself a playoff team. Of course, somebody has to make the playoffs from the NL Central (AKA the division that has a grand total of 1 postseason win since the Cards won the World Series. At least it was a Brewer win)
  4. The Yankees can't be that great. They just picked up the Brewer bullpen refuse. Or maybe Milwaukee just doesn't know what they're doing in letting Mitre go. Pretty sure the Yanks wouldn't have picked up Dillard.
  5. Yes, much better to be in our 6 team division rather than even a 3 team division with Boston and the Yankees. There is not a single team in the AL East that wouldn't change places with the Brewers (in about a millisecond) in terms of simple competitive balance and post-season opportunity. The 6-team thing is a bunch of whining.
  6. If this gets out of hand later I honestly think Counsell and Kotsay should both pitch an inning. There is no sense using up pen innings any more in this series. It would be possibly the biggest on-field contribution either guy could make to the team at this point.
  7. All you can do is appreciate the fact that the Brewers play in a winnable division. Imagine being the Jays or Os and going into a season knowing you have virtually no chance of even competing for a wildcard.
  8. It's pretty hard to get upset about this when the Brewers have no more than two positions on the field, and none on the bench, that are better than the Yankees. And at first base it may be a push. Just the economic facts of life in MLB.
  9. Divisional scoreboard report: Cinci (2-1 t8), St Louis (4-0, t7) and Pittsburgh (6-4, b6) all leading in AL East ballparks.
  10. Not to get too armchair psych about it, but it almost seems like Greinke is more fatalistic about some of these outings than anything. This outing was not much different than the one againt the Cubs. It's like he throws the pitches and just sort of accepts what happens. That could be way off, and maybe it just comes down to him missing his spots, but he certainly does seem locked in to pitching a certain way and just letting the chips fall where they may. Right now those chips are being ejected from teh area of home plate at high velocity.
  11. The games are different, but the psychology isn't. Of course these teams are beatable. You have to figure out a way to do it, despite the fact that they are better than you. It happens all the time for lots of teams. The first step is beleiveing. The second step is giving yourself a chance so that you can keep on believing.
  12. I have no idea if this stat means anything, or how it compares with anyone else or the "average", but the Brewers have 21 wins in series sweeps. They are 23-35 otherwise, and 6-11-2 in those series.
  13. I see this same sort of thing every year in the HS football playoffs. A team will come in to a 2nd round playoff game unbeaten, but they were the champ of a weak league and then they get a little puffed up over beating another weak team in the first round. Then they play a team that won a conference that plays strong football. They are down 21-0 before they know it and facing a running clock the entire second half.
  14. He's not hurt. It's purely a RR move. Not sure it makes a difference one way or another anyway, unless Marcum only goes 2 tomorrow.
  15. On pace for 30 runs here. I hope they slow down and somebody wins the 21 contest on the radio.
  16. Perhaps it's just a reflection of the relative quality of the teams.
  17. Three aces, three not very good (or worse) first innings against Boston and New York. Purely coincidental.
  18. He fell over because he misjudged it so bad. He tried to stop suddenly and change his course and he slipped. Yeah that was my take on it. He ran so far back and then had to change directions suddenly and then slipped.Agreed. That was a classic case of contributing to your own bad luck. If it was a comparative negligence case the jury comes back at best 50/50 and Plush walks away with no recovery. Nice to give Greinke a breather after his million pitch first.
  19. Meet the new boss, same as the old. This team is a road implosion. If they don't take this golden opportunity to get Casey out of the lineup, they're nuts.
  20. At this point I'm just hoping Greinke's pitch count can get him through 5.
  21. Big win. How about winning the series tomorrow?
  22. The best part about that rally is that we'll see the top of the order again in the 9th if we need them.
  23. How much is it going to hurt to see that guy in another uni next season?
  24. I know what you're saying mtrebs. It seemed like, for a brief moment when the team was on its hot streak, that they had turned some sort of corner in terms of "maturing" in the sense that just getting the result was always in focus. It seems like they've regressed from that. There is a sort of cold-blooded, just-getting-it-done vibe to certain teams. The Brewers simply aren't there. Honestly, I don't know that they ever have been in teh past 25 years. That goodness for having CC in 2008.
