  1. DOH, watching too many things at once. Took Yuni's RBI from him. It's pretty sad.
  2. Ryan Zimmerman is 3 for 3 for the Nats with 3 HR thru 5. Something interesting to watch baseball-wise. Also, Jordan Zimmerman is pitching. Really wish the Crew had drafted that Wisconsin kid.
  3. With a hockey game 7 and a USMNT friendly on tonight, the Brewers are in 3rd for my attention early tonight. Maybe the end will be worth watching.
  4. 12 wins, not quite 20 games out of first Note: this would constitute IMPROVEMENT over their current pace.
  5. Some bored observations on the month inspired by the feeling that we've all seen this before: The Brewers have played (not counting tonight) 220 innings of baseball this month. They have held the lead at the end of only 53 complete innings. 34 of those 53 complete inning leads came in a total of 4 games (all wins). In their 19 losses to date, the Crew never lead at the end of a complete inning in 14 of the 19 losses.
  6. This is a team that should at least have a puncher's chance in games with the offense that they have on paper. They don't even have that right now. It's going to be a struggle to maintain any semblance of enthusiasm until the 4th of July, much less the AS Break.
  7. I know the Brewers aren't good right now, but there is a lot of soul-crushing going on too. Not being good enough is one thing, but it really seems like it's not just an issue of getting crushed overall. They get crushed situationally as much as I can ever remember. So many 2-out rallies surrendered and so few clutch plays made in what seems to be a more than fair share of opportunities.
  8. Just looked this up, and it's really kind of shocking: The Brewers have just TWO losing streaks of exactly 1-game this season. They lost to the Dodgers on April 28, then bet the Pirates on the 29th. They lost to the Dodgers on WED and beat the Pirates on FRI. Other than that, every 'single' Brewer loss this season has been followed by another loss and turned into at least a two game streak.
  9. Sums up my experience as well, with the same qualifiers. My wife is a quality manager in an industry where quality of product is everything. And yet she struggles and struggles to get people at all levels of her organization, their suppliers and their customers to understand that it's not really the main point of her job to "catch" things that compromise quality or to babysit production and inventory. It's everybody's job to make sure that everything they do is about quality. It feels like way too many people are only worried about what they can "get away with" if it's to their short term advantage to do so. People want to win battles instead of winning wars.
  10. The last time the Crew won 2 games in a row was April 30, against the Pirates.
  11. Thumbs up! I very rarely post in the MiLB forum, mostly because I have little to offer when compared to the often excellent, informed stuff like this.
  12. You can see multiple looks and hear multiple calls of that missed call here: http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=27410615&topic_id=11493214&c_id=mlb&tcid=vpp_copy_27410615&v=3 At first you can see Grimm is looking to see what's up with the runner at third after the play. Then he realizes that he got the call on the DP and he casually walks away and pretends like everything is right. I get it that virtually nobody at this level going to willingly give up that gift, but at some level it bothers me just a little that the guys themselves can't take care of this in the most obvious cases. If they're going to accept the obviously bad calls to their advantage knowing that it's a bad call, I don't ever want to hear the players whine about the umps in connection with the integrity of the game. Integrity starts at home. The ump made a mistake, as people are going to do from time to time. Texas knowingly took advantage of an easily fixable mistake. It's telling that so many today will spend time scrutinizing the umps and not spend one second thinking about the other people who have some level of responsibility to the game.
  13. It looked to me like he stubbed his foot into the ground funny on his release. I think he may have tweaked it there.
  14. Not trying to jinx this, but they're 3 outs away from leading the Cubs in the win column AND the loss column. Baby steps. Baby steps.
  15. Can you see expletives or do they show up as **** for you? I was kinda hoping to find out . . .
  16. The last lunch break this bad involved some tainted shrimp salad and several hours of ensuing GI tract rebellion.
  17. ESPN just echoed this earlier report as well.
  18. Just looking at the Dodger numbers to compare their woes with the Crew's and this stood out to me: Coming into tonight they are 13-4 when Kershaw and ZG start. They are 5-21 when their other guys start. The back end of the Brewer rotation is 11-12. Of course Gallardo and Lohse have been chalking up losses, though Lohse has fared worse than he deserves.
