  1. I guess when you're as fast as Gomez, that play is OK, right? Please, somebody tell me that's right. Please?
  2. What error? The scorer thought Braun did a great job reducing a triple to a double.
  3. Is it good news or bad news that Prince is arguably not the worst infield defender at this point? He hasn't been great, but he's been making plenty of very good (for him) plays.
  4. Agreed. On another note, my too idle brain was just imagining a Tony Plush rounding-3rd-and-heading-for home video vignette on the old County Stadium board, third base coach wildl windmilling, Tony and the unfortunate catcher disapperaing in a BAM! explosiong graphic, with the catcher then reappearing as scattered bowling pins falling from teh sky. It ends with the ump announcing via animated-spelled-out letters - "He's In There!". I bet having some retro-type stuff like that, but on the new board, would be a lot of fun for a lot of the long-time fans.
  5. Now that Brian and Rock have mentioned it, I'm really glad Ed got to stick around on the staff. Have to think it's good for the guys to have at least one familar face around in a time of change and Ed was a good guy to keep for a lot of reasons.
  6. OK, let's start printing up the shirts tonight. If we don't somebody else will.
  7. Bummer. Really looking forward to getting into "every day with the Brewers" mode. Much as I like listening to the radio, the spotty TV situation at the start of the season has sort of stunted my enthusiasm just a tad and consecutive off-days don't help either. The siliver-lining mode has me very happy the national face of the Brewers on ESPN Monday Night Baseball against Halladay won't be Randy Wolf (as presently pitching). Right? Or does Estrada get skipped now?
  8. This doesn't really fall on the MLB blackout rules. It falls on the Brewers not taking steps to make sure the game is seen in their own market. Don't get me wrong: the blackout rules are insane and outdated. But if the Brewers wanted to figure out a way to make sure the game was available to fans outside of Milwaukee, they coudl get it done (provided the content providers played along).
  9. In a way, it's oddly appropriate that the new Gameday view shows no defense on the field when the Brewers opposition is batting. Of course, the don't show it for anyone else either, but I won't let that spoil the thought.
  10. Don't even have it up on the mini-screen on the MLB Mix Channel on DTv. Guess I'll turn off all the lights, fire up the radio and appreciate what it was like to enjoy baseball the only way my grandpa had a chance to (as I post on the Internet).
  11. Blacked out for me in Wisconsin on DTV 646. One day MLB is going to figure out what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps. The blackout rules are simply as arcane and insane as they can possibly be.
  12. WMLW feed makes my eyes bleed. The more things change . . .
  13. I hate the Reds. I hate that bandbox more than I hate the atrocity of a left field in Houston. I hate Dusty Baker. I hate umpires. See you all on Saturday.
  14. OK, if they're gonna get runners in from third with less than two outs, this team will go undefeated.
  15. Ok, just to temper the enthusiasm, Rock stinks. Just wanted to be teh first to put that out there in a thred this season, even though I don't believe it.
  16. Being realistic I'd like to see the following: AL: Rays, Yanks, Twins, Rangers. Really not all that intersted in seeing any of the others butt their way into this. NL: Braves, Reds, and in the event the Crew doesn't win 30+, two from the West. Prefer Padres and Giants, but wouldn't mind seeing a big run from the Rockies again. Not a big fan of the Reds, but anyone other than STL makes me happy.
  17. Wouldn't say I hate them, but these teams I will root against versus just about any opponent: Yankees Red Sox Phillies generally but I like a lot about this particular group of guys they've had recently White Sox (carry over from the AL rivalry days) Cubs Cards Mostly I find myself rooting against fan bases, especially when they start getting chesty. Don't know why it is, because you'd expect these groups to be made up largely of the same people, but Vikings fans drive me nuts while Twins fans don't really bother me at all. Same folks, different sports, whole different attitudes. Weird. YMMV.
  18. More importantly, shouldn't Ken Macha have seen this coming? Won't bother me at all if Parra is not a part of the club next season.
  19. Well, if nothing else it's going to be touch-em all.
  20. When was the last time the Crew was only 5 under? May?
  21. Macha panics after the first misplay, defense lives down to its reputation, and now Macha panics again. Priceless. I'm about to give Cerrano's final Jobu talk to the Baseball Gods.
  22. Worse to lose it now, or lose it in extras? -Reverse jinx attempt-
  23. C'mon. I know you've watched the Brewers a lot this season. It's all too real, and all too predictable.
  24. I'm perilously close to using up a strike here. C'mon Baseball Gods, I asked nicely yesterday.
