Looks like it's actually Thornburg for the Manatees tonight.
  2. bretsky07
Matt Miller was just taken out of the Rattlers game after only facing two batters. I'm not listening so I don't know what happened, but it can't be a good thing.

Huntsville has grounded into a double play in each of the first three innings. Sean Halton has two of them, and an error that led to both of the Smokies' runs. Edit: Oof. Make that 4 for 4. Caufield lines into one in the 4th.

Brevard is going off in the early game. 9 runs in the first 4 innings. Ke Davis already with 2 doubles and his first HR of the year, Kh Davis with his 5th HR. Scooter has 2 hits and his average is well above .300 now.

Farris at SS, Green at 2B for Nashville tonight.

Dan Merklinger is actually starting game 2 for the Sounds today.

    Scooter returns!

You say gaudy, I say exactly what a decent 1B prospect needs to be doing. Also it's the exact same as Chris Dennis has been posting in the minors (with that much better walk rate you're looking for) for the past 3+ years. And only one of them is a Canadian. Free Chris Dennis!

I noticed Gamel was ejected from the last game he played in (Friday 8/20). Maybe he was suspended?
  10. bretsky07
Wow, the box score has Salome playing RIGHT FIELD in the second game in Brevard. Interesting to say the least.
  11. bretsky07
    Brandon Kintzler.
  12. bretsky07
While I love this Huntsville 1-5, Huntsville's 2008 1-6 of Brantley, Escobar, Gamel, Laporta, Gillespie, and Salome was even better. That first half was insane offensively.

Minor note from the Huntsville game: Chattanooga was 0-2 in stolen bases against Lucroy.
  14. bretsky07
They work for me. Gindl at the plate for Huntsville now replaces Gindl at the plate in Brevard as my background.

I'll go with a few sleeper types that haven't been mentioned much: Chris Dennis - dominated in Wisconsin before getting injured Dan Merklinger - put up some nice numbers between A and A+ last year Cody Adams - hopefully he comes back strong from his suspension Mike Jones - I have no idea what to expect from Mike, but it would be great if he earned a look in Milwaukee for #5, I can't decide between Brent Brewer, Chuck Lofgren, Chris Cody, Efrain Nieves, or R.J Seidel

They'll just piggyback, like they did this year. Looking through the first game logs of this year: Game 1: Scarpetta / Nieves Game 2: Frederickson / Watten Game 3: Merklinger Game 4: Peralta / Adams Game 5: Bowman So you sould definitely see Arnett, Odorizzi, Heckathorn, Lasker, Bucci, Howell, and maybe Burgos, plus a holdover or two from this year, like Cody Adams once his suspension is up.

You should probably add Patterson (still on team) to your list of woes (WOAHS) Seriously though, I kind of wish they'd just stick Gamel out in RF for the last few games.
  18. bretsky07
...and Mat Gamel silently cries in the corner.
  19. bretsky07
Steffan Wilson 3-run homer in the 8th! Stars now up 4-2!
  20. bretsky07
It's unlikely both would have co-winners, but Rivas/Anundsen and Gindl/Schafer all would work for me. Honorable mention for Butler, Axford, Heether and Farris (hard to deny how impressive 70/76 in stealing is). Or they could go for the comeback angle and give it to Jones or Rogers.
  21. bretsky07
Mark Rogers is the TBD for Brevard
  22. bretsky07
Looks like Capuano is starting for the Baby Brewers again. It would be great if he was in the mix for a spot somewhere in the pitching staff for next year.
  23. bretsky07
You have to love the Huntsville 4th inning. 2 quick outs followed by a Lucroy walk, Green double and rbi, and a two run homer for Cain.
  24. bretsky07
Apparently Jesus Colome reported to Nashville to fill Tim Dillard's spot, instead of to Helena as reported. He just pitched two scoreless innings, and struck out the side in his second inning, while working around a double and wild pitch. Edit: I just noticed this link at the Sounds site that details the move. Also noted in the link, Wes Littleton to Huntsville, Sam Narron back to Nashville.

Gindl with a granny! Amazingly, that's his 13th of the year, the same that he had in a full season in WV last year. Can we promote the majority of this team to Huntsville already?
