  1. Yesterday, after searching the internet for a few hours without any success, I broke down and actually bought CD's for the first time in at least five years. I bought: The Reigning Sound - Break Up, Break Down The Reigning Sound - Live at Maxwells Yesterday's Kids - Can't Hear Nothin' The Obsoletes - Is This Progress? ... I think Reigning Sound is now on my all-time favorite band list, joining Superdrag and the Descendents
  2. What's the deal with Gwynn not playing the last few days in Nashville?
  3. Rickie has OPS'd higher than Biggio, Giles and the awful tandem of Miles/Kennedy in St. Louis this yer... so bad, but not even the worst at his position. And their excuses aren't as good (other than Biggio being too old). Minor side note... wow the Padres should have taken Graffanino. Giles has been terrible to the tune of .232/.303/.320/.624 (his OPS is lower than Braun's SLG)
  4. Dillon can play the outfield too, so might have some value with us next year.
  5. Is Gagne going to be a Type A free agent? Type is determined by stats from the last two years and Gagne, though having a great year this year, only pitched two innings last year. Will that push him down to a lower Type?
  6. If Gwynn is a starter next year, he will be in center, and Billy will shift to left. Gwynn's defense is just too good to move him out of center. That said, I don't want him starting anywhere next year.
  7. so you're saying Juan Pierre (.284 AVG) and Prince Fielder (.284 AVG) are pretty comparable players?
  8. then what are good ways to judge a player?
  9. that may be the first time Juan Pierre has ever been called underrated... that .316 OBP coupled with a .337 slugging makes me think he's usually rated correctly, as awful. also, you can't swear in any form, even covered with fun symbols, as I'm sure the mods will tell you.
  10. how does Brantley compare to Brady Clark? your description sounds similar.
  11. Somebody needs to go from AA to AAA This one's a no brainer. Stetter replaces Thatcher.
  12. I agree 100%. I think what we need is for Laporta to come in and dominate immediately. That should help.
  13. The next Power 50 should be interesting. How does Salome's suspension affect his standing with us? Who jumps into the top spot (likely Parra)? And where, oh where has Will Inman (and Garrison and Thatcher) gone?! At least this might finally give the older guys in WV a few spots in the 50.
  14. If we don't make the playoffs this year, I am putting 100% of my anger and disappointment on Doug. I may even call his moustache stupid, and him stupid for having it on his face. ... really though, I've never been this disappointed about a trade (though it will make the bullpen much better this year), and it's sad that I won't be seeing these three in the good guys' box scores anymore. I hope Thatcher strikes us out in the playoffs this year a ton. (But only if we're already up by at least 5) Best of luck to them all, I'm sure we'll see all three in the majors sooner rather than later.
  15. seems steep. Inman for Linebrink straight up would have seemed steep to me, but definitely more palatable. ...I'm still waiting for a new report that says "Brewers get Linebrink and..." insert moderate prospect here.
  16. ...and probably Graffanino in left field again.
  17. adding another IF would just be ludacris. We need another GOOD bat and/or pitcher. We do not need to fill our roster up with more mediocre players who are nearing the end of their career. http://www.tradebit.com/usr/djmixtapez/pub/9002/Ludacris-The-Def.A.Nition.jpg Especially if it was this guy.
  18. I think we need to get another reliever as clearly Grant Ballfour is a AAAA pitcher. Clearly It was one bad inning. He looked good in his other inning, and his AAA numbers are good enough that he needs to be given a few chances. I think we've all become spoiled by Braun and Gallardo's immediate success after their callups this year.
  19. I used to play Tetris on Nintendo for ours, but I cannot get the Nintendo to work anymore even when I got it hooked up right. Nintendo 8 Tetris is under the Puzzle category. Pretty much every old school Nintendo game of all time right on your computer, no downloads needed... hours of fun!
  20. I too worked in the cafeteria (Pop's Club) but managed to make it through 3 years without ever working the hot food line. Mainly cashier and dish room, with a couple times manning the sandwich bar. Could have been worse. I worked there my freshman year at UW-Madison. Also worked the dish room. I went to Madison for 2 years, then transferred to Oshkosh because my 2.7 GPA was not even close to being good enough for Madison's business school, but well above the required GPA for Oshkosh's business school. There I switched from Accounting to MIS, and I should graduate this fall, if I can actually get an internship (interview this Thursday with Oshkosh Truck will be it hopefully). I think I've had a job for all but one semester so far during college. I've worked the last two years at a bike store in Oshkosh where I do everything (I have the most sales, I run the store website, I do repairs, I create and check in pretty much all orders) for a whopping $7.25. There's a pretty decent chance I can get a job with Trek Bikes in Waterloo in some capacity after I graduate.
  21. Wasn't Gindl supposed to be back in action last night? He's not in the lineup again tonight either....
  22. Oh, so that's why Bell is batting cleanup for Brevard! EDIT: Remove accidental emoticon.
  23. I'm not sure why, but I do a lot of pairing in my head as well. -I stopped pairing up Jones and Parra this year, and instead pair up Parra and Thatcher who will hopefully be dominant lefties out of the pen this September in the majors. -I usually pair up Gallardo and Inman, as I see them taking pretty much the same path to the majors, with Will a year behind. -Rogers and Jeffress, as twin 1st round fireballing high schoolers. -And this year, Braddock and McClendon, low level guys I knew nothing about before the year but who have so far dominated A ball.
  24. And here I was wishing for a Spurling cut/trade and a Balfour callup to make room for DiFelice... too bad.
  25. Some friends and I are planning a trip to St. Louis for the the weekend of July 27-29. Does anyone have any suggestions for cheapish hotels and any personal experiences that could be helpful to share? Thanks!
