  1. My family and I will be at GABP the next four games. Here's hoping that this personal roadtrip from Milwaukee turns out with a 3-1 series win (or better). Harang will make it tough. Here's hoping Billy Hall joins us on Wednesday!!!!
  2. In a surprising event, the Cubs are going to win again today. Does anyone know if they will lose a game sometime soon? I remember the mathematicians on this sight earlier were saying that with the Brewers fast start, the Cubs would have to play like something like .650-.700 ball to get to like 88-90 wins and thus win the division. I think with today's win they will be like 19-5 (.791). It has got to turn around right? I mean we know Soriano, Ramirez, and Lee are studs, but the rest of their lineup looks like Brewer lineups of the past with average talent Theriot, Fontenot, Kendall/Hill, Jones, Pagan. They have speed for sure, but it seems that everyone is killing the ball. Pinella is putting hit and runs on at the right times, making the right pitching changes at the right times, etc, etc. I guess as they say, just win baby!!! I am just hoping for someone to put the Cubs down to earth a little because, .800 ball cannot be sustained!!! Oh, and is Marmol the next Cy Young? I never heard his name mentioned with the Homer Bailey's, Tim Lincecum's, Yo Gallardo's of the world. They have to be playing over the heads!!
  3. Ouch that hurts-mightily!!! I think that might put a nail in the Twins coffin for the season. Unless they bounce back quick, they might be sellers.
  4. Great Wise with a hit. Now the stats page will look all screwed up for the rest of the year. Wise BA 1.000 Hart BA .307 Congrats Matty!
  5. That's Yost's 55th new lineup of the year. It is his best, me thinks....
  6. What would be the outfield when Hall returns? Dunn Hall Hart Mench, Jenkins on bench (pending another trade)? That would be an awesome bench, putting egos aside. I personally find it hard to believe that the organizational soldier Jenkins will be traded now when the Brewers are so close.
  7. Balfour too up with the big club. Great to see!
  8. Sorry for the one sentence post- Weaken it!
  9. That really seems to be the jist of it, doesn't it? I didn't like what I read on brewers.com that Sheets couldn't bend the finger with some pain yet as of yesterday. This doesn't sound good to me.
  10. I just heard on WSSP 1250 AM from Adam McCalvy that it isn't for sure a done deal yet. Manny boarded a plane for Milwaukee, but the Spurling situation may resolve itself today and thus Chris could return to Milwaukee to "bolster" the bullpen in time for tonight. They are waiting awhile yet to be sure. Melvin will be on the Sparky show in the next half hour to an hour.
  11. Brewerfan.net, I will be finishing my basement recroom soon, so now it is finally time to get to the fun part and pick out a HDTV and other audio/stereo components for my new room. This thread isn't meant for me to find out what TV is best, I am doing my homework on that, but I want to ask the question about mounting options for the HDTV. Ideally, I had planned on mounting it to the wall, but lately I am starting to rethink it and was thinking of going toward using the standard TV stand that they give you and putting it on a TV Entertainment Center. Have any of you mounted an HDTV on the wall using the mounting brackets? WIth that said, please tell me your experiences with the following questions: 1). Was it an easy and safe task to mount it on the wall yourself? Is it secure by just mounting it to the wall studs? 2) Is having it professionally mounting to the wall the way to go? Best Buy and American TV wanted anywhere from $200-$300 to just mount the TV and that seems ridiculous. But they will do it right. 3) How about hiding the assorted cables from dangling on the wall as they climb up to the TV? (Anything from your video game console to your DVD player, satellite receiver, etc). Obviously you may change equipment later in life and you don't always want to have to fish these up the wall behind the dry wall (tough access in my basement long story) every time you want to make a change. They did mention to me a wall cable channel that you can run all the cables in a square tube that "looks" better. 4) Lastly, the sales guy I talked to today said to "do it right" is to just get a decent receiver and run a single HDMI cable to the HDTV so that I only have one more cable to fish through the wall permanently and then hook everything up to the receiver (video game console, dvd player, satellite receiver) Thanks for your assistance in helping me watch the Brew Crew in the beauty of HD win the NL Central title in my new entertainment room!
  12. I'm still hoping for a swap of Gwynn Jr./Mid-Level Pitching Prospect for Kenny Lofton to take place. Probably not going to happen though http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  13. If Parra is coming up I would think that something is Brewing on the trade front? Or a DFA? Or an unknown injury? If you bring up Parra and DL Hall you would have 13 pitchers and 12 position players. Then you would have too many long reliever types in the pen struggling for their share of innings. Could Vargas be dealt? Is Shouse ailing??? Interesting news....
  14. I'm still for Lofton. He shouldn't cost a fortune. Go get him (if Billy is out 6-8 weeks) and plug him in the lead off spot. Move Hart to a run producing spot to take the place of where Billy was hitting in the 5-6 spot. Then when Billy gets back, you can ease him in the lineup again for the stretch run and you have the best 4th outfielder in the league on the bench in Lofton to pinch run, spot start, etc. Go get him Doug!
  15. This might just be a vent, but the last road trip the Crew went 5-4 versus the Rangers, Tigers and Twins, and won both of the last two series against the real tough teams. I am unhappy with the loss, but not embarrassed. The Pirates are not a 60 - 102 type of team anymore.
  16. Anyone want to kick the tires on Kenny Lofton as mentioned in many a threads if Billy is down for some serious time? Although this is where our depth might prove its worth. Mench, Jenkins, and Gross are left with some decent track record of success. Or of course, Mr. Lofton, might be available.
  17. My silver lining thoughts on this 5th of July: If the Crew wins 2 of 3 in Washington, they will be 50-38 at the break. Pretty nice! On this 9 game trip through Chicago, Pittsburgh, and Washington, the Crew is 2-0 when the score 10 or more runs in a game!!! (Should this be blue? I don't think so but it is true
  18. While Pittsburgh is an improved team, it isn't completely embarrasing to lose to them. They are not necessarily a 60 win team anymore. What does suck is as others mentioned losing to Youman the other day. They just didn't show up that game. Take that game and you split the series. I knew that if they didn't win against Youman, it would be real tough to beat Snell and Gorzelanny at that House of Horrors that is PNC Park. If we win two of three in Washington our record will stand at 50-38 at the break. Not bad. (silver lining thread?)
  19. Every year before the All-Star break it seems that the Crew tends to start the break a bit earlier than what the schedule actually says. I don't suppose a sweep will happen in Washington, could it?
  20. This place is indeed the house of horrors. Kenny Lofton anyone???
  21. As I mentioned on page one of this thread, I was rooting against starting the game today. I have a bad feeling about this one. Prove me wrong Sheeter!!! Hopefully the Cubs will stumble tonight and against the backend of the Pirates rotation this weekend!!!
  22. You know, if this game isn't played today, I am not sure that is a bad thing. Prince gets his day off, the team gets out of Pittsburgh with winning 1 out of 3 and goes on to the offensively challenged Nats with Ben Sheets getting the ball in game one. If they get 2 of 3 there a 4-5 road trip wouldn't be terrible. Plus then the Cubs will get Gorzelanny instead of the entrie back end of the Pirate rotation come this weekend.
  23. Late checking in here. Brewers sure look good today. The Cub Fan Boards are really fun to read today. Ivy and Northsidebaseball.com I swear is leading me to believe they will be jumping off the bridge today. We need a starter, no one is good besides Zambrano, etc. They hate Braun, he looks too cocky. They hate Fielder, cuz he is too cocky too. Well considering those two have burned you all day and most of the season, I guess I would expect that. Get use to it Cub fans, this young core will burn you time and time again over the course of many of the next seasons!!! Oh and by the way, the are complaining the Matt V and Grace are kissing too much Brewer behind. (LOL). Enjoy the game!
  24. The thing I have noticed most is with many a fly ball, Brian will say this: "This one won't carry". But then earlier in the game broadcast, he will make a comment that with the roof open at Miller Park the ball really carries. So which one is it? I've watch baseball for most of my 32 years and I must say that it is not always an issue of carry, it is how hard the ball is hit/squared up on the bat that determines the length of the flyball. All in all I don't mind Brian but pay attention to this, he does this ALOT. One ball carries and the other doesn't. I mean if it is windy and blowing out strong to left, all balls hit to left will carry more than the would on any other day. But when the roof is closed at Miller, how does one explain one ball carrying and the other not carrying? I just think he needs to refine how he explains a fly ball is hit to the outfield. I can see that by the outfielders reaction that the ball isn't mashed to the wall when it is a medium flyball and thus we don't have to worry about "carry".
