  1. I was just on MLBtraderumors.com and they had an article about him being a FA. I think he would be in interesting pickup depending on the cost.
  2. I think Boston would have to eat some cash for a deal to happen. The Brewers have to be getting close to being tapped out. As for Cameron the player, I would be all for him returning because the team seemed to be quite fond of him.
  3. If the Brewers sign Pavano that will be the end of the pitchers they bring in except for maybe resigning Capuano or someone like that. They won't be dealing for and other SP(unless Fielder gets traded for a young SP). Worst thing about possibly signing Pavano is that he is type A free agent so we would have to give a pick as well as blow money.
  4. Sure Garza is being overrated a bit, but he is a clear upgrade over what the Brewers have and also the options on the FA market. I still don't want to sell the farm to acquire him, but I would much rather deal the prospects for him than the ones that it would take to get Grienke who I feel is even more overrated.
  5. Yeah the more I hear about Fielder(and Boras) and their lack of willingness to talk contract or their unrealistic salary demands, the more I just want Fielder traded to be done with all of this. I am so sick and tired of hearing about it, that I just want a resolution one way or another. Heck trade Fielder for hitting prospects and then continue looking for a SP to trade for.
  6. I really hope that they do not sign Pavano, because I think everyone hear can see what the outcome is more than likely going to look like. Overpaying for an average pitcher at best. I would prefer the Brewers either bring Cappy back or take the approach of bringing in a couple "bounceback" players over signing Pavano for multiple years.
  7. This would be ideal in my mind if the Brewers could swing Fielder and ???? for Smoak and Pineda. If not Seattle then Baltimore is dying to make a splash and they are also looking for a 1B, and they have multiple young SPers that they may part with.
  8. I hope this is not true otherwise we are wasting our time talking about Grienke. "It's believed the Brewers were on Greinke's no-trade list last year, but the pitcher hasn't yet delivered his new list to the Royals" http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/story/14312978/royals-greinke-dbacks-upton-hot-topic-in-first-week-of-meetings
  9. I was thinking the same thing with Smoak, but I would try and get Tanner Scheppers in the deal as well even if it means sending something else back to Texas
  10. The team that I see as a dark horse is the Baltimore Orioles. They have shown a willingness to pay players in the past and are on the edge of fielding a good team. They also have a lot of good young SP to offer in the likes of Brian Matusz, Jake Arrieta, Chris Tillman among many others. The Orioles are the team that I would target being that they do have pitching to deal.
  11. I am going to start off by saying I know this is not going to happen, but I am just wondering if the deal was on the table would people do it. I was reading earlier today that Boston and San Diego were talking Adrian Gonzalez for Buchholz and Ellsbury. What would people think of a deal of Prince for Buchholz, Ellsbury, and Lars Anderson(possible future 1B)? Go out and sign a Nick Johnson, Jermaine Dye, or whomever else to play 1B(or possibly move Gamel or Hart(played 1B in minors) to 1B). This would give the Brewers another good young SPer, CF of the present and future and possibly their 1B of the future. Just a thought and I know it is not going to happen.
  12. I think that is pretty easy to answer. To get Capps in the bullpen you can either trade Villanueva off, so basically offsetting most of Capps salary, or you can just let Lofgren go back to the team the Brewers selected him from. To have the chance to get a 26 year old who could be our closer of the future(when Hoffman hangs it up) I really am not worried about fitting him into the bullpen. Yes he had a bad year, but his career stats are still very good.
  13. I could see Hardy as part of a package for King Felix, but as trwi7 said Salome and Jefferies would have to be replace. Probably needs to be Lawrie and someone like Ordozzi(spelling not right but you get the idea), and even that probably wouldn't get it done if you believe the reports of what the Red Sox were offering before the deadline.
  14. Depending on the price I would have no problem taking a flier on Myers, but as trwi7 said I would also prefer to add a Sheets or Hudson(not big on Smoltz(age) and Bedard(think price will be to high)). My ideal would be to add say Sheets and then sign Myers also. Have a rotation of Gallardo, Sheets, Bush, Myers, and the best of Parra, Suppan, and Looper(if back). I would feel much better about the Brewers chances with this rotation and you would also have some depth for when Sheets gets injured.
  15. I think you would have to add something along with Gamel to get Baumgarner. This is the type of trade that I personally would like the Brewers to do. Get a young pitcher that they would have under control for a while.
  16. I appears that Dye is not in the White Sox plans for next year, and now with Rios coming over the OF is quite crowded. That being said, if the Brewers are going to try to compete Dye would look very good in RF and hitting 5th. Maybe the Brewers could get him somewhat cheap.
  17. My gut feeling is that the Brewers were one of the teams going hard after King Felix. Supposedly the Mariners were talking about King Felix with a few teams and he would make sense for the Brewers. He wouldn't of been a rental player, he is young enough form a nice duo with Yo, and he is also a top of the rotation SP.
  18. Don't think it would happen, but I would prefer the Brewers deal Hardy to the Mariners for Morrow and some other prospects(not familar with the M's farm system). I look at it like reloading for next year by shoring up your pitching, and the Brewers would get some major league playing time for Escobar. I would prefer the Brewers do a modest sell this season(shop Cameron, Suppan, Hardy, Hart, maybe Hoffman etc.) and look to gear up for possibly one last run with Prince(yes I know he is under contract the following season, but if the Brewers want anything in return trade wise they will have to deal him next offseason at the latest).
  19. Just wondering what the chances are that Felipe resigns with the Brewers at the end of the season. If Felipe resigns then the Brewers could move Rickie to CF, RF(trade Hart) or 3B if the choose. I would like to see Lopez and Weeks hitting 1 and 2 next season. Any chance?
  20. Bad contract for bad contract? Snell for B.Hall, we could have to either eat some salary or send something else with Hall but it could solve 2 problems in one trade.
  21. I think this is the type of player/move that the Brewers really should be looking at. Yes Halladay would be great, but the cost is so high in both prospects and salary that it may actually be better to take a flier on a couple of guys like Snell that have talent but just haven't put it together. Maybe Snell pitching in games that actually mean something might help him produce.
  22. Going by Baseball America prospect rankings by team they have F.Martinez(#1 rated prospect in Mets system), Niese(#3), Parnell(#5) and Tejada(I could only find top 10 and he wasn't in it). So by going off the Brewers rankings we would be offering Escobar, Lawrie, Salome and ???. They only difference is that Niese and Parnell are pitchers which it seems that Toronto is after.
  23. Looking around the only guys that I thought MIGHT be a possibility would be Gary Matthews Jr., Brian Giles, Randy Winn, Miguel Batista, Nate Robertson, and Khalil Greene. I didn't really check into length of contract, but I am pretty sure Matthews signed something like a 5 year 50M contract a year or two ago, so he is probably off the list. I guess I would like to take the chance with Batista or Robertson(because he is a lefty). Matthews, Giles and Winn are really just getting up there in age so a bounce back is less likely. Anyone else have any names?
  24. My concern is that lets say the Brewers do pull off a Halladay deal, and then at the end of the season Halladay demands a trade(as he has the right to do by being traded in the middle of a multi year deal). The Brewers would be hoping to recover what they gave up for Halladay being that they have lost all leverage with Halladay's trade demand. I guess I would prefer going the more conservative approach and trade for more of a gamble SP and see if it works out. The Brewers wouldn't have to give up their top prospects, and it may work out positively. I just don't see the Brewers being only 1 or 2 players away, especially with the way the hitters(outside of Braun and Fielder) are hitting.
  25. That is not a bad idea, and pretty much what I want the Brewers to do. My thought was more dealing Hart and Hardy for a SP, and then trying to get Jermaine Dye from the White Sox for prospects.
