Wow, a Brewers pitcher averaging 11 pitches in two innings. I didn't think that was possible. Of course he's a new guy, the old guys will have to teach him how we do things here.
85, 86 is it really something to make a big deal about? His point was that he doesn't throw hard so he has to be perfect and when the whole staff minus Gallardo is built around those types of pitchers, it's most likely going to be ugly.
Why? He's getting those numbers against lefties (.361/.429/.694/1.123) and he's getting owned against righties (.213/.304/.377/.681) and he's still playing terrible defense. You don't pay a right handed platoon outfielder who's an awful defender anything, at least you shouldn't.
That's probably about right. Even if he only goes 5 innings per start (he went 5.19 last year), he would get about 26 starts the rest of the season. That would be 130 innings added on to the 20 he's already pitched and he's at 150 innings.
It's a good start. Just keep him in the rotation for the rest of the year. They have to find out sometime if he can be a starting pitcher, there's no better time than now when the team isn't very good and losses don't matter.
Count me in as not confident that Bush's 85 mph fastball and 68 mph curveball are going to not be sent into orbit by Victorino, Utley, Howard, Werth and Ibanez.
