Economic Stimulus Check

The wife and I received it today.

Wasn't it supposed to be $600 per adult?

We received $848 - what a strange amount and less than anticipated!

 

Any idea why the strange number??

I would guess yoiu were supposed to get $900...and for some reason, they had you as underpaying by $52.

2hoophead, what date was yours supposed to be sent? I'm hoping for $300-600, but it was supposed to be sent on June 6th. When I left for the US Open on the 12th, it hadn't arrived.

i was due one this week, no luck yet. I assume it will come next week. hope I didn't do something dumb like toss it with junk mail.

If you owe taxes, you won't get your check. They apply it toward what you owe. Or at least they did that with me. Thanks government!

or if you made over a certain amount, the amount of the check was lowered gradually until you got zero because you are so darn rich already.

i got my letter yesterday to say they were sending it. i don't want a letter--just send the check!

Our taxes are simple and we do direct deposti for them so we had our check in early May. That direct deposit stuff is sweet.

My taxes are tricky due to a family company. We have a lot of phantom income because of how the company is set up, even though we get virtually nothing out of the company in a dividend. So I had expected a lower amount, but for it to be $0 would be rather unfortunate. I got the letter in March or so that indicated that people would be getting stimulus checks starting soon

 

Just found a "tracker" on the IRS site. Says my gross income was too high..so I guess the phantom income was the key.
