Value (Sabathia vs Sheets vs Harden)

Watching ESPN tonight during the Phillies-Red Sox game (I know, I know) the comment was made that C.C. Sabathia has more value in terms of trade than Sheets or Haren. I am well aware of the injuries, but this just doesn't seem right to me. By the way, Sheets was on the right side (end) of the graphic in terms of trade possibility.

I would order them Sabathia-Sheets-Harden. I'll also predict that Harden is the only one who might move, if any.

Sabathia's younger, left-handed, and has no injury history...I think that makes him more valuable than guys like Sheets or Harden. Of course, if it was Steve Phillips talking about it, he probably rationalized it by saying that Sabathia has more career wins or he's had playoff experience or something like that.

He's also overweight, and has 200 more innings of wear and tear on his arm than Sheets, whose injury history is mostly non-arm related. I believe that offsets the 2 years difference in age. That being said, Sheets has earned that fragile label. Sabathia has the better career numbers but this year, Sheets has the decided edge.

Also, Harden would theoretically have two years on his contract, as he also has a club option for next year while CC and Sheets are gone after the year.

The only reason Sabathia has 200 more innings of "wear and tear" is that Sheets has missed about 200 innings over the past three years. Furthermore, Sheets' FIP in 2008 is 3.55. Sabathia's is 3.31. Not such a decided edge this year if you ask me.
