Official Silver Lining Thread

why would anyone have a problem having it?

I don't know why either. But on just about every thread, no matter the subject, someone will inject a rip on either Graffy or Counsell.(or both at the same time). They have given the young guys days off when needed, and allowed for slight injuries to be rested, all while maintaining the flow. It is a big silver lining for this team, and I feel a few on this board just don't see it that way.( I relly relly relly am trying not to make this a vent)http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

if brewers play .500 ball the rest of the way winning 42 games and finish at 88-74 the cubs will need to win 50 of 85 games to tie.

Even if (somehow, but I don't think it will happen) the Brewers lose 2 of 3 to the Cubs, the Brewers only lose 1 game in their lead! I have a feeling it will be the other way around with the Brewer taking 2 out of 3!

You beat me to it Brian. This was a pound-of-flesh type victory for the Cubs.

Let's get 'em tomorrow or die trying!

At least we didn't listen to all of the posters who wanted to give Cordero 4 years and 40 million to stay with the Brewers past this year.

For those keeping score at home - Coco has 27 saves in 30 attempts. If you look at Turnbows game log, he would have a very similar save percentage.

So maybe Turnbow as a closer next year isn't so bad. You might throw your TV out of the window 10% of the time. But the results will be there the other 90%.

I agree with Brian. I was saying that all through the game. All I'm really worried about right now is that Marshall continues his hot streak.

Otherwise, I have to say....

1. Gallardo....still looking composed under pressure.

2. Mench added some trade value to his resume.

3. None of us are Cubs fans.

That is all.

I'm realizing this is the thread for me over the vent thread, so here goes:

-If I ever return to Wrigley, it will never be as disappointing as my first game.

-Yo looks great

-The Cubs used a lot of arms in their pen, so hopefully they'll be taxed a bit in the next two games.

-Sheets tomorrow

-We're still up 6 1/2

...And that's all I got.

I just got home from working at a psych hospital. One of the patients is a HUGE Cubs fan. She's crabby all the time but it was nice to see her smile and enjoy something.

I really wanted to vent but I checked it out and it's worn out over there. This is the best I could do.

At the end of the day, it's just another game.

Knowing that Sheets pitches on Saturday made this loss a heck of a lot easier to stomach. All I really wanted was at least one win this series and I feel like there's a good chance of getting it in a few hours.

I have already posted this link in the article tracker thread, but I think it is also worthy of the silver lining thread. It is from The Capital Times in Madison:

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

I agree. The only thing that worries me though is Marshall. He's been good since his call up.

That said, I have had a postive vibe about this series from the get-go. The loss yesterday was heartbreaking, but it's not like the Cubs whooped us or anything.

The Brewers have raised Marshall's ERA from 2.44 to 3.50 in two innings.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

The Cubs bullpen is going to be all used up for Sunday's rubber match (assuming Sheets can manage to hold a 7 run lead tonight). Ours on the other hand, will hopefully be better rested.

Not only for the rubber match. Using up their bullpen could be a gift that keeps on giving until the AS break, even if (god forbid) the Cubs win on Sunday. If losing Friday produces 2 Cubs losses next week because their pen is spent, it's the ultimate silver lining.

That we lost today annoys me, just because I had to be there for the Friday walk off HR. Also, I'm not happy about the Cubs owning the series 7-5 right now.

But, I just found this out: The Cubs announcers on WGN were crowing over the fact that they had a great June where they went 18-11. The Crew went 17-10. So, the Cubs had two extra games to gain ground, and didn't. On June 1st they were 6.5 back, and they are now as well after their great June.

I just hope their bullpen is a little tired going on the road this week. Ugh...I can't stand them winning.

4 hours after a tough loss against the 2nd place team in the division and the vent thread is on the second page. Maybe that somehow means people are starting to believe in the team!

Well, I didn't see or hear the game. So no venthttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif But it looked like we were taken to the woodshed. I am happy about being 6.5 up after the series. Now hopefully the Crew can make hay against these garbage teams.
