NY Post says Mets will go after Zambrano if availible

You know, it might be a good idea for them to trade Big Z. They have Lilly, Hill, and Marquis all throwing well for them, and they could really use some young talent to help them towards the future. Plus he is going to cost a fortune to resign and he is a total head case right now anyways. The Mets love players like Zambrano, and he will fit in very well with Delgado, Beltran, Pedro, Reyes, etc. So heres what I see happening:

 

Cubs get:

Lastings Milledge

Aaron Heilman

Phillip Humber

 

Mets get:

Carlos Zambrano

Jaque Jones

Bob Howry

 

Lots of character issues involved with this trade, but I think it works out pretty nice for both teams, especially if the Mets sign Big Z to an extension right away. Let's be honest, Big Z still has amazing stuff and he could be a monster in the playoffs.

 

Who gets the better deal?

Does make you fear the Cubs more or less for next year?

What should the deal look like if not this one?

I'd rather not see the Mets get better at this point, seeing as we may be playing them in October.

Zambrano to Milwaukee would be better. How about Bush, Turnbow, and Palmisano? Would that be enough for a 3 month rental or would the Cubs want more? Imagine Sheets and Zambrano at the front of an October rotation, even if it was for only one year.

The Mets would be giving up a lot in that scenario for a rental player... Especially one who's been shaky this season.
