HVAC furnace help

Hello all --

My furnace seems to be Yosty today and not providing heat to the house -- It is a Lennox Pulse 21, gas and electric ignition.

The blower doesn't seem to start up..

Any ideas?

Happy Thanksgiving!

This is kind of funny.

My furnace also just took a crap within the last 12 hours. Mine is a Carrier Weathermaker 9200 and is 10+ years old. When it clicks on it starts chaking a rattling and the blower never turns on.

When I bought my house in February the seller gave me a one year home warranty and luckily the furnace is covered. It will only cost me a $60 deductible no matter if it is just a small repair or if they have to replace the whole thing. I think it might cost me a bit more for a replacement but obviously much less than if I had to buy the whole thing myself. I would probably prefer that they just give me a new one since the existing furnace is so old.

Only problem is that my warranty company can't find anyone available in the FDL area to come service my furnace so I am sitting here freezing my butt off waiting for someone to call. It is 63 now and will probably drop pretty fast once the sun goes down.

I'm afraid I don't have advice for either of you, but if FTJ calls a heating company for help, and continues to describe the furnace as "Yosty," I hope he records the call so we can hear the reaction.
Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

Our hot water heater quit this summer, the auto ignition switch failed and had to be reset. Luckily, one of the neighbors is trained in plumbing and HVAC and fixed it in 30 seconds.

Well -- My son and I were looking at it, and it would clunk a number of times and then quit -- and my son said "It sounds like if it clunked one more time it would fire up", and I thought to myself, that sounds like something Ned Yost would have said "We were one clunk away from blowing heat" -- hence I thought "Yosty" was an apt adjective.

It's probably a control unit that will cost 1/4 of what you paid for the furnace. That's what mine was.

Thankfully it was a little diaphragm that needed to be replaced. Something that they check when they do service calls -- Thankfully it should cost me only ~$100 or so. Whew.

My furnace is 32 years old and is still keeping my home nice and toasty with no insulation and the thermostat set to 66. It's gonna be a sad day for my bank account when it finally decides to kick the bucket.
