RHP Donovan Hand has been activcated from the Stars' disabled list, and will take the spot recently opened up by corner IF/OF Steffan Wilson's placement on the DL.

This gives Huntsville an odd 13 pitcher / 11 position player balance on their full 24-man roster. Their next six games involve the designated hitter, so the bench is short, but pinch-hitters won't be needed for a week.

Lots of transactions today: 1B Sean Halton and OF Erik Miller swap places, the former going to Brevard County and the latter to Wisconsin. OF Lee Haydel and RHP Jim Henderson were put on the Huntsville DL, with IF/OF Juan Sanchez moving up Huntsville from Brevard and OF Scott Krieger coming up from extended spring training to replace them. Don't know who's replacing Sanchez at Brevard yet.

EDIT: They keep coming. Adam McCalvy reports that the team signed SS Justin Parker, who was Arizona's 6th-round pick in 2007. Parker hit .252/.349/.373 for South Bend in the Midwest League last year as a 22-year-old. McCalvy says he's been assigned to EST for now.

EDIT: It'll be a rehabbing David Riske taking Sanchez's roster spot at Brevard County.

EDIT: OF Adam Stern had his contract purchased by the Brewers and was called up from Nashville to replace Carlos Gomez.

LHP Chris Capuano has been transferred from Brevard County to Nashville. No official word on how the rotation will shake out, but Chris is back in AAA.

Capuano fills the roster spot vacated by Adam Stern. We should note that Capuano is not on the 40-man roster. This is not considered a rehab assignment, so it's open-ended and counts against the Sounds' roster limit.

On the other hand, the clock has begun on the 30 days for David Riske's assignment to Brevard. MLB rehabs don't count against minor league roster limits, so the Brewers could add another body to the Manatee roster if they wished at this time.

The Reds recently released 27-year-old AAA outfielder Josh Anderson, and the Brewers have signed him to help ou their depleted outfield situation in Nashville. He'll be added to the roster on Thursday, when a corresponding move will be made to make room.

Anderson spent all of 2009 in the majors, splitting time between the Tigers and Royals (career minor and major league stats prior to 2010). He has also seen the big league clubhouses of the Astros and Braves.

Are the Brewers trying to mess with us? Two Roberts at catcher. Two Davis' in the outfield. At least they are on different teams. But now two Andersons in the same outfield.

My mistake, no corresponding move, as Mitch Stetter's recall earlier in the week opened up a spot, so Anderson was officially added today, and the Sounds roster is at 24.

At Huntsville --

Good news: Lorenzo Cain is off the disabled list.

Bad news: Taylor Green is now on the list, injury issue still undisclosed.

Semi-good news: Green's entry is backdated to May 11th.

OF Adam Stern was optioned to Nashville and RHP John Axford recalled to Milwaukee. RHP Mike McClendon was also promoted from Huntsville to Nashville.

It looks like as Per Adam that Mike Jones has been bumped to Triple A to replace Estrada and Nick Green has moved up to Double A where he should have been.

OF Caleb Gindl was placed on the temporary inactive list at Huntsville, with OF Lee Haydel coming off the DL to replace him. LHP Mike Ramlow, who missed most of last year with arm surgery, was activated off the DL at Brevard County.

Rattler Radio Media Notes:

RHP Hiram Burgos, SS Carlos George, and RHP Chad Robinson have been transferred from Wisconsin to Helena.

INF Kyle Dhanani, RHP Santo Manzanillo, and RHP Andy Sauter have been transferred from Helena to Wisconsin. They will be in uniform for the Timber Rattlers today.

Here's the Wisconsin stat page so you can check the numbers on the now-Helena Brewers.

More was expected of Burgos, coming off his Puerto Rico Rookie of the Year winter ball season. Robinson has walked 14 in 12.1 innings as he works his way back from arm surgery, and George's defensive miscues (14 errors) aren't helping his case.

We need to see Manzanillo's near 100-MPH heat, and Sauter will be 24 in July, so needed to see full-season ball by now.

Hopefully that means Gennett is the SS for good now.
Michael Marseco (swinging a hot bat as well right now) started at shortstop Wednesday. Marseco will still see plenty of action at short. Should the discussion continue, we can pick the topic up in a Link Report, we'll try to limit posts in this thread to the actual roster moves.

McCalvy: "Outfield prospect Caleb Gindl was placed on the temporary inactive list at Double-A Huntsville on Wednesday because of a health issue in his family."

Reliever David Riske's injury rehab assignment has been transferred from Brevard County to Nashville, so expect to see Riske pitch in the Sounds' series in Fresno this week.

To give Nashville a second catcher behind Ben Johnson, Patrick Arlis makes his always-timely recovery from injury in time to be activated from the Huntsville DL and moved to the Sounds.

It seems like Arlis has spent more time on the "DL" than he has spent active, during his time with the Brewers

At Huntsville, Caleb Gindl activated from the temporary inactive list and Brent Brewer placed on the restricted list. I wonder what that's about.

Well no offense to Agent 39 intended, Brewer just hasn't put it together in baseball, but could still have a football career if he enrolls in the fall. All things considered it might be best for him if he walked away from Baseball. I was really excited about him again after his AFL stint but it just hasn't worked out for him. I wouldn't be surprised if he was walking away from the game, the flip side is that his current BA at Huntsville is the highest of his career, so it would be a shame to walk away now when he's performing relatively well at the plate in AA. Obviously I don't have any inside information either way but I would definitely understand if he was walking away from baseball.
