New Roof

Thanks to a hail storm, I get a new roof on my house. I was talking to a friend of mine about it, and he mentioned that his dad went with a metal roof instead of a traditional asphalt shingle roof (yes, he lives in WI). This got me thinking about a different option for our house. I did some research...and while metal roofs seem nice, I am still a bit skeptical. I can't tell how much more/less they cost, how they deal with expansion and contraction during different seasons, and how good they look on houses.

 

My question to BF.net...does anyone have a metal roof on their house, or can anyone tell me if they are any good? I like options, but sometimes it makes it hard to make a decision.

There's a newish metal roof in our neighborhood (on Monroe St near the Edgewood schools), but it's orange. Just promise me you won't get an orange roof.
