Question for Whitefish Bay area residents

Hey everyone,

I will be interviewing for a teaching job in the Whitefish Bay School District. I am wondering if anyone on here would have some information about the School District and the Whitefish Bay area other than what I have found on websites. Post here or shoot me a PM. Any and all assistance appreciated.

I've been looking to buy a house in that area for the last few months, hopefully I'll be doing so next year. I haven't researched it much, but most of the north shore seems to be an incredibly good area for schools.

The WFB school district is definitely one of the best in the state. I'd love to send my kids there if I could.

As far as the area itself, it's a very nice area. The taxes might be a bit high but that would be expected.

Lived in Whitefolks Bay for about a year (five years ago), nice area with lots of retail around, easy highway access. Not a bad place to live.

Thanks for the information. I am hoping the Milwaukee Area would provide a much better place for my wife to get a job (she is in the human service field and has been a volunteer coordinator and worked with victims of domestic violence). Also, it will put me much closer to Miller Park which is a big pro, especially since I've recently lived in Marshfield and Oshkosh. Not to mention the fact that WFB HS is an amazing school and the position is pretty much a dream teaching job. If anyone else has any other info or advice about the schools or the area I would greatly appreciate it.

My dad graduated from Whitefish Bay HS, so it can't be that great. ;)

As for the area, it's very nice. My grandparents lived on Lake Drive (the non-lake side of the street, so not one of those mansions) for decades and I always liked going down there. It was ok hanging out with them, too.

I've lived in Whitefish Bay for almost 6 years now. A big part of why we moved here is for the schools. Our kids are only 4, so they haven't been in the actual school district yet, but anyone I've talked to has spoken well of it. My old neighbor grew up in Whitefish Bay and came back to teach in Whitefish Bay and really loved it.

If you're interviewing for the grade school, there are two different ones. Everyone speaks more highly about Richards than Cumberland, but I'm not really sure why. Our kids will be going to Cumberland next year and we've been through the school, it's a nice school.

Plus Craig Counsell went to Whitefish Bay, and now has a park named after him. So there's that!

Best of luck.

Had my interview yesterday. Thank you to all who provided some information.

Sorry I missed this topic earlier. I grew up in Whitefish Bay and went to Cumberland, WFBMS, and WFBHS. As everyone above said, it's a very good school district and nice town. If your kids score below 30 on the ACT they'll kick you out, though.
