I know that he was with Ben Sheets for the draft to hand in who they were picking.....

Short doesn't give a lot but must have been pretty valued by staff previously and now. You don't become senior director of baseball ops at 32 if not. The fact he was a Brewer bat boy and has been part of the Brewers since he was 16 I think is something they value a lot as well. You look at CC, Sedar, and now Flannigan, they all are extremely loyal and want to be/see the Brewers succeed.

 

Edit correction: He added the senior title in 2012, was just director of baseball operations prior to that.

He's a really nice guy and well regarded around baseball. That doesn't mean he'll automatically be good at this, but it's a good start.
